The late Joseph Simote had a very similar aproach with his supported elbow frame. Basically its all you need.

    Speaking from experience.
    Highly effective
Easy to do because let's be honest.
Despite all the available targets people are striking to the face. Constantly
This WILL hurt them regardless of size or skill level.

One wont always have even the simplest of weapons BUT almost everyone always has they limbs. An few know what to do with them effectively. More open unarmed moves are always a plus an help. Just get the timing right

Thank you bro. In Kali, the limbs are weapons. 👍🏼

Blocking with your elbow looks stellar, but with your arms so high, aren't you then leaving your midsection open for a big kick?

There are more things one can do than this technique alone. This is an isolated drill.

Was thinking that also,I remember in middle school some kid who knew boxing was beating the other guy who wasn't a boxer, the other guy simply kicked him in the balls and dropped the boxer and ended the fight.

True BUT THIS is a COUNTER move.. you throw up your arm in response to their ALREADY in motion punch attacks.. it's basically impossible to launch a committed punch AND a kick at the EXACT SAME time.. I've never heard of or seen anyone in any art or level of experience do it. Our brains often can't an don't do more then a couple things well at same time. Especially fight sequences that can get complex fast. There's likely nothing else to worry about atm if they're committed to a punch. If that's not what they intend it's not gonna have hardly any true power or effect if your hit anyway an probably wasn't meant to

💥💣These are very effective blocking techniques with the elbow. There are various blocking techniques that you can use to block with the elbow. This will destroy your opponent's fist and wrist and the opponent will be destroyed within a few seconds, and you can go home safely...

Gotta laugh @ how unreal this training is… punch ur mates elbow instead of his face…punch in kicking range , then move backwards after the strike…how can you counter attack if moving back…with an elbow…when you destroy Knuckles you go forward with elbows, it’s an entrance

You should have been here for the real training. 🤷🏻‍♂️. This is a very beginner step drill. All training is unreal. That’s why it’s called “training”. If you don’t like it then simply skip it, don’t do it. Do what you want too. I’m sure you know best. 👍🏼

Great instruction. This seems very reminiscent to the 52 Blocks system that I've come across on RUclips...

Yes, many take things from Kali. Kali came first. 😉👍🏼

WHAT IF, he feints to the face and then hooks to the body with either hand?

    • @kalicenter
      @kalicenter  3 месяца назад

Then you do something slightly else. This is one technique / one drill. Kali is an entire art that deals with all that. If you ask a hypothetical question like that then also ask, what if the art already has answers for that? 👍🏼

Hmm…. Interesting because that hasn’t happened to me yet through the 25 years I’ve been training in FMA. Maybe if the elbow is not all the way in flexion? Then that would be the fault of improper technique 🤔
