Motion Control - Lord of The Rings: Galadriel Forest

In this sequence we see our actors traversing towards a large tree house network. This environment could not be created to scale, so only half of the set was built up. The rest of it would be filled in by digital animators.
With the use of the Genuflex MK3, we were able to match up many different passes of this scene to achieve the final shot of the actors walking up into a large tree house network.

I’m still not entirely sure how they blended the live action set with the physical miniature, in the very first shot. I’m guessing they used a little cgi to blend the two?
