Why is there such a big deal on making sure there’s no contamination. Does that mean bacteria will prevent the shrooms from growing or does it make a different type of mushroom
Meemerz Gaming It's because you want to prevent other fungi from colonizing your growth environment! The air we normally breathe often has a variety of fungal spores, and they can easily sit unnoticed in our food, the air that we breathe, anything really. When you're growing mushrooms, you're creating the perfect environment for them and any other unwanted fungi.
Meemerz Gaming So basically, yes, you might end up growing a different type of mushroom that you don't want! It's not bacteria you're worried about, its common mold.
This is just a guess, but cotton is organic. It used to be alive. Mushroom(fungus) are decomposers. They break down organic things. If you use cotton, it could likely be "eaten up" during the process. Polyfil is from an inorganic compound and so it will be more resistant to decomposition. I used to tutor my friends son in science lessons and we talked a lot about worms, bugs, mold and fungus and how they help recycle organic compounds locked into higher order life ,like plants and dead animals, so that they can be recycled and used again by roots of plants that will eventually be eaten by animals, etc. The circle of life and all that...He liked the GRIM stuff a lot, LOL

@@mobilisq Nope, just saturate your vermiculite substrate, and nuke it. You should also cover it whilst doing this, but either way, microwaving it will not dry it all out and even in that, just....add boiled water after nuking the substrate ??? The point is just to make sure its a sterilized environment. That can most easily be achieved with a microwave as any microorganisms in the substrate are killed by the radiation. The vermiculite has good water retention regardless of the evaporation.
Of course it will work. The only thing that is a factor is the substrate. Primordia have just as much medicinal value as the fully developed mushroom and so you will want to have a container that allows you to access the primordia without bruising them. That is why glass jars with a wider top than bottom is ideal. Take the lid off and all slides out.
Thank you ! I hope I will cultivate my PLEUROTUS in my parisian house. I will protect the bottles in a vivarium to have the same humidity as long as they grow!

Thanx for the video. What are the conditions like in your grow room in terms of lighting and temperature? Do you get a lager yield in the jars compared to the growing bags? Do you eat a lot of musshrooms your self? What 's your favourite enoki recipe?

Liberty caps are one of the hardest to cultivate Indoors, they need very specific conditions to fruit. I've never seen anyone successful with cultivating them indoors
It's awesome! Honestly though, the grow bags get better yields and easier overall for sure. The Enoki that I have grown in bags was way more efficient and easier. But the bottles are reuseable which is cool. The major advantage that I can see is if you can get the mechanization equipment- then it is 100% worth it.
Great video! Left me wondering, in what kind of environment do you store the jars during the inoculation and fruiting processes? Since there is an air filter on the jars, I assume they need to inoculate in a well-ventilated area? I've tried growing them in my cellar before but that didn't really work out...
the idea is that during colonisation of the jars you want the co2 levels to build up, you dont need much gas exchange during the colonisation period, during fruiting you would allow for a healthy amount of fresh air exchange, temp: 24c
@@MikeHunt420 all right, thanks! As far as ventilation and fruiting goes, do you think it would be possible to fruit the mushrooms in a small, closed greenhouse together with some plants such that the air remains warm and moist but the plants provide fresh oxygen?
Mike Kennedy I've heard that depending on the type of mushroom, this can be very successful! In my experience though the wood tends to take longer than grain or compost.

This is interesting, I thank you for your teachings.
RUclips really wants me to harvest some shrooms
It's doing the same thing for me
Thank you ! I hope I will cultivate my PLEUROTUS in my parisian house. I will protect the bottles in a vivarium to have the same humidity as long as they grow!
Do you think I could get a clean culture from grocery store enoki?
Possible for sure. I have done it with Shiitake from the grocery store- haven't done Enoki...
Hey, What's up, Professor!? thx for all your teaching.
Thanks for watching!
Hy my friend ! ! ! .... Nice idea ! ! ! I discover your channel today and i subscribed ! ! ! ! Hello from FRANCE ! ! ! ! 🌴🌱🍀🍏🌲🌳☘🌿🎋🌻
while using mason jars, can i sterilize them in a pressure cooker.. and during mycelium run how many times a day i need to water it and also what about light exposure
Where can I buy a spawn bag?
I would like to know too.. :)
You make it using a medium and the mushroom type on an agar based substance. (He has more videos that explain it)
Thanx for the video. What are the conditions like in your grow room in terms of lighting and temperature? Do you get a lager yield in the jars compared to the growing bags?
Do you eat a lot of musshrooms your self? What 's your favourite enoki recipe?
I'm looking for anyone out there that would be able to help me find a way to successfully grow Liberty caps indoors, I've successfully got them to where the cakes are completely white I just don't know what they need to kick off they will not start pinning. if anyone can Point me in the right direction that would be great ty.
Look up dunking of cakes
Liberty caps are one of the hardest to cultivate Indoors, they need very specific conditions to fruit. I've never seen anyone successful with cultivating them indoors
Wow never knew it would be that much work, i have no reason to grow mushrooms but it looks like a fun experiment
Could you just squirt some LC into the slot? Or colonize grain with the LC then fill?
Yes, you can 100% do this with LC... that is how some of the large bottle farms do it (not all, but some)
That looks like alot of fun cant wait to try this :)
@@EctoMorpheus that should be fine but be weary of dormant pests and mold
I’ve seen people inoculate bags of wood pellets that are used for wood stoves. Have you ever tried it?
Mike Kennedy I've heard that depending on the type of mushroom, this can be very successful! In my experience though the wood tends to take longer
than grain or compost.
1:38 I been done like this before
Went to the thrift store bought mason jars!!!!!! I really need to try growing mushrooms. I have not had time. I have been canning soup. I have a husband with a wound and two dogs with limps ACI or CCI in dogs and just put my fourth dog a mutt down for kidney failure . Been a hard few months.
everytime i hear that song it makes me feel like im watching a lost pause video
you are cool by the way
Haha thanks :)
Thanks for the uploads, just found your channel looking forward to hearing more!
There isn't mushroom left in those bottles
Hey Tony. Another great video !! Thanks agian for sharing your knowledge.
those bottles are called jars...
😂
hello, i need more information what is this soil your using exactly ? where to buy it what i have to do exactly ? where do i buy the seeds from?
ΑΛΕΚΟΣ ΚΑΡΑΤΖΑΣ , it’s not soil. It’s a substrate. I think he said it was hardwood sawdust and wheat. And they grow from spores/spawn. You need to perhaps start with a Bastin kit to teach yourself.
Notice the one thing he didn't say in this video was psilocybin
why would he? he operates a legal edible farm
Some people inoculate the inside wall of the grow jar as well, to see if mycelium forms.
Hey guys it's Tony from fresh cat mushrooms. Subtitles at the very beginning
I like it haha, doesn't have the same ring to it though :)
Love all your videos . In China , they grow their mushrooms in clear bags . They keep the bags for many many years forever giving mushrooms . Of course they do this more as a famine food , as they live off the land in the very high deep mountains. I’m sure this is not what should be done . None the less they are currently doing this . If your interested I’ll send you the link to the incredible sight . Thank you for your videos ♥️( Hawaii)
*Drinking game*
Every time the dude says Contamination you take a shot.
clear dixie cup might work also if you put on the bottle with some holes
