Aaah! Now the penny dropped! 13 years after conpleting my CCNA. I just thought of the port numbers on the server side and never thought of the port numbers on the client side. It is nice to just go through the content, refresh my memory and see what changed. (Without the stress of exams in my case ;) ) Wish I came across your channel earlier.
I have been taking your CCNA course on your website, I booked my exam and have been doing some practice tests, most of the time I have no problem verifying why some answer is not what I thought it would be but this one sticks in my side and I wanted to know what your feeling on it is: The question is quite simple really: What command configures a switchport using the default Vlan? I think because all ports are in vlan 1 by default that just making it an access port is all that you need to do, and that is debatable as it is usually by default an access port anyway. So I said "switchport mode access", rather than "switchport access vlan 1" because the ports are in vlan 1 by default. Any other vlan, I would say "switchport access vlan X". The answer is supposed to be "switchport access vlan 1" but to me that is redundant, and unless specifically stated it is in another vlan, this would be unnecessary. Am I over-complicating this question?
-Great video...!!! -I was studying for a few years how to make a system for monitoring servers and equipment in my corporate network at the time, that was almost 10 years ago, and I used two Xeon servers one with Nagios installed and another Xeon Database server to then assemble with pcs with the system Linux acting as probes on each monitored network and with that all set up a map with all servers and service statuses running on them and create a map for monitoring all systems. -But now I run the full Nagios server on my Linux desktop and if I wanted I could install a full server \ probe running on a 40 dollar Raspberry Pi instead of using a Xeon server that costs 10 to 1000 times more. -Funny how the technology evolves but the monitoring protocol that I studied at the time to set up this server is still the same SNMP. -Thanks for the video please continue ... !!!

Can I ask a newbie question about your example? Suppose I’m 192.168.1.1 and I want to communicate with 192.168.1.2, connected to the same switch. Why would I need to use ARP to get 192.168.1.2’s MAC address? Surely the switch knows this already, as it has to build up an internal lookup table of IP addresses versus MAC addresses, so it knows where to send my communication? Wouldn’t such a lookup table be built up when each device is first assigned an IP address, either by DHCP or manually. Doesn’t each device on power up do something like broadcast “Hi I’m here and my MAC address is blah, please give me an IP address”.

Many test teaker complain that ccna exam question was too tricky and tha5s why they failed the first exam so because of this an exam practice tool is essential before go to exam.... i really dont know...

I had this error with version 7.2.2 of PT. Just get the lastest version available. It works fine with 7.3.1.
