      It's a formal 'you', but it's also what married couples call each other

      in normal, day to day life, yes it does. it only gains a different meaning when it comes to couples, who use it instead of calling their partner by their actually name.
      think of it like how we use 'honey' in different contexts. could be the thing bees make or the nickname you use for your SO

      I think the saying is different like an'ta in general & anata between couples, even though perhaps written with same Japanese characters?

      Anta is like “anata”: it means “you” but anta is more casual and can sound a bit rude so be careful when you use it.
      Anata means you but in a formal way but if it is used in a romantic relationship then it means dear, darling, honey, et cetera
