That opening bass line is so iconic in the genre. If you want to hear them live, anything from Filmore East album is going to be great.

Great rock band from the 70's that mixed blues, jazz & country music in their sound. They had lots of great songs such as "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", "Statesboro Blues", "Melissa", "Blue Sky", "Ramblin' Man" etc. One of my favorites is their instrumental "Jessica" which was written by guitarist Dickey Betts & named after his daughter.

Founded by brothers Greg Allman (singing and playing keyboard in this one) and Duane Allman on guitar. He's famous for playing slide guitar..or was before he died RIP.

My brother, I really enjoyed your reaction to this great Allman Brothers song. You are right, the singer, Gregg Allman, wrote this song. Also, you are spot on when you say you can feel his pain. The pain and hurt of this song really come through loud and clear in his voice, the lyrics and the guitars. IMHO The Allman Brothers are the greatest blues rock band. Gregg Allman is arguably the greatest blues singer and his brother, Duane, is the greatest slide guitar player of all time. I recommend One Way Out (make sure it’s from their Eat A Peach album) by them next. It’s live from Fillmore East in 1971. They have many great songs to explore!!

The Allman Brothers were Blues, Country, Jazz, and always Southern Rock. Gregg's iconic voice, one of the best Rock guitarists Gregg and Dickey Betts, two drummers, a bass, and so much tragedy tied to the Allman Brothers. Watch their live version at Fillmore East, since it is one of the best live performances of any Rock band.

They were, and still are, ICONIC. But I think you missed the mark calling them "ironic". They did not use words or phrases that meant the opposite of what they were trying to convey.

I was fortunate enough to see this Band in New Orleans many times as they basically made New Orleans their home away from home. They were the most talented and masters of their instruments I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen many. Top that with Greg’s gritty, soulful, bluesy voice and it didn’t get any better.

I was turned on to these guys way back in 1971 during my tour in Vietnam. Best Blues Band ever. Duane Allman's slide guitar was the best in the world before he was killed. Brother Greg, on the keyboards and lead vocals, has so much damned soul in his voice.

It's mind blowing ❤ Another favorite Allman Brothers tune is Melissa. Beautiful. There's a video with lyrics done in a similar style to the one you just watched.
And I think you'd really enjoy one of the brothers, guitarist Duane Allman, along with the exceedingly talented Boz Skaggs, playing Loan Me a Dime. (However, as much as I'd like to see your reaction, I'd really rather you listen to it off-line without interruption so you can get lost in all that delicious sauce.)

Now days most people call their style Southern Rock. But that descriptor wasn't even coined until a few years later. They considered themselves a blues band. And the lead singer, Gregg Allman, was only 21 years, 8 months when he recorded this. His older brother, Duane, was the leader of the band and played slide guitar. He was killed in a motorcycle wreck about 15 months later.

2 rules to show respect of the music during reactions, don’t pause during solos (you ruin the experience for yourself and annoy your audience) and always play the song to the end, which you didn’t in this case.
