Great footage and music...thank you for taking the time and energy into capturing the aesthetics and concept of a town of the future..also for creating a digital record for posterity...its obvious that gross neglect and the ravages of time and entropy..abetted by harsh Scottish weathering..will signal the end for this fine old lady..that served most of us soo well over the years.....hundreds of thousands of people from every corner of the globe will have a vivid memory's of this futuristic landscape..echoes of simpler times.... crumbling to dust before our eyes..soo sad to see...well done for keeping the town in the public consciousness.
My first years were spent in this area, in Seafar and Abron Hill, before I moved to England when I was 4. I would go back to visit family when I was a child and I absolutely adored Cumbernauld. I loved the huge clock at the bottom of the steps near Woolco and the statue/ornament things on the other side of the centre near the indoor shops. I watch Gregory’s Girl at least a couple of times a year, just for the nostalgia. Thank you for this video, I really enjoyed it
Good afternoon Tanya. Thank you for uploading this video. Could you please do a video what the tower blocks and all the housing estates look like today? Pure.
People will be looking for footage of the centre once it is demolished. These videos are and will be a great source and reminder for people. Do you have any idea what they are planning to replace it with ? have not heard anything in that regard. It's not all bad news, found out Fleming house is to be demolished, that is an eyesore. Thanks again.
The Town in 1970 was still in it's Full Developmemt, it took years to finish and actually it never was anyway. Much of Centre phase 1 era in 60's was never finished and to this day it has been through so much with part demolitions and sheer neglect from local Authorities
@@user-Tanya1973Brutalist I remember visiting Cumbernauld, forty years ago, to sell double glazing around the various estates. It was beginning to look tired and deprived then, and that was only twenty years after its inception.
❤ the escalator music at doors to mall changing at moment doors open automaticlly Tanya.. nice 😊

I remember it named as “Snake Bridge”
Never heard it before called Spaghetti bridge
Outstanding work, the music complements it perfectly.

Pure.
Next time when a return to Cumbernauld i will have a look at other parts of town and see what i can find out.
All the tower blocks have been demolished, houses and flats have been built on the land.
Another great video and time why they did not keep it up looks so futuristic such a better time than what we have become.
Gotta love the motorway sequences with less than half a dozen vehicles on 'em 😂
Where has that desire to create gone, did it just not work or do we not dream big enough anymore?
Thank you @Tanya Clark
I Love your content and its well partnered with the music. Can I ask what the artist is? Sounds Warp like...Autechre maybe?

Love the lack of street furniture; signs and lines to keep us all in check.

Soviet planning just doesn’t work in Scotland.
More Swiss-French than Soviet, Le Corbusier, for example. 🤔
Where the big syeps
Scotland doesn't do "tomorrow." Scotland can only do 50 years ago.
