Congrats on your new job! Things happen for a reason so just because you didn’t land your first choice doesn’t mean you should’t feel optimistic about the future. I’m also a nurse and currently in anesthesia school and I remember starting off as a new grad I didn’t get my first choice in the icu, but it was a blessing in disguise and I’m glad things worked out the way they have. Just gaining any kind of experience in the field as a new graduate is valuable and it increase your chances in working in a public hospital with your experience in the future. Good luck!!!

Congrats~! Been in nursing for more than 10 years already in private hospital and seriously you won't regret it. I know i do so don't be so sad. Gain experience first and i wish all the best for you. Nursing is not an easy job field out there, i'm glad i do came across someone young as you that felt so excited to be a nurse 💕

Interesting perspective. Here in the United states, people tend to pursue private hospital jobs because the pay tends to be a bit higher than public hospital. Regardless, congratulations on your new role!

Congratulations. New RN I take it? Private hospital is better than a public hospital in the US usually. But you can always transfer after 1-2 years. Hospitals always like experience. Here in US, you can start NP school as well as soon as you get your bachelor nursing degree.

Be patience and work your way up the ladder. Do you know how difficult it is to get a nursing job in Australia when you just graduate? It's like striking lottery! On top of that you are a foreigner which makes it much harder.
As long as you are happy, your mom will be happy. Appreciate what you have in life and you will learn to love yourself more.
Labour union is very strong in Australia. So, one thing great is you will not have to work over time and get yourself exhausted. Make sure you have a balance life.

Working as a Nurse in Singapore for 5 years now as well, your years of experience will be the next most valuable thing when u want to jump to government sector again , all the best 💪
Here in Singapore, ppl would prefer to work in a private hospital then public.. public hospitals tend to be very crowded and always very busy, as it's the cheaper option most ppl goto for medical needs.
While private hospitals tend to pay better also.

Congrats on the first appointment. Just go for it and gain valuable experience. If you ever wanted a nursing job in public , private or mixed across in New Zealand . Just let me know, we are growing rapidly in Dunedin (South Island) and will be looking for those most dedicated to join.
No you misunderstood the Public Hospital response. It says that you are accepted and remain on the list of suitable candidates but that there are no vacancies in your preferred areas of interest. This is how the public system works; you don’t just apply for one job but they interview for a pool of suitable applicants then as positions become available they make offers. I know this because I worked in this system until recent retirement. Repeat the public response hospital is NOT a rejection but you are on a wait list. From an employer’s point of view it is far more efficient to interview many candidates in one single tranche rather than each time a position needs filling.
Nahyun, don't worry to much about not getting the pubic hospital job. Sometime it is better to just get the experience first before you get the job you want.

Nice work, take the plan B job as a chance to thicken up your resume and experience so when you do re-apply for Plan A hospital or another hospital you have a good reference/referral.

Nursing is a difficult job. Being a Nurse really is a calling.
good for you. Once you get a few years experience you can go to plan A. But I always find private are well funded and less administration. It may be a blessing in disguise
