Hard water shouldn't be used on your hair but my friend, soft water is not suitable for drinking as it does not contain essential minerals and TDS value is also lesser than required. Filtered or RO processed water is suitable for drinking but can't be called soft water. Though it is comparatively softer than unfiltered hard water.
