- Football time in the Bluegrass in April? What could be better than that? KSR had boots on the ground in the press box at Kroger Field as Mark Stoops‘ 12th spring as the head football coach in Lexington came to a close. After some morning tailgating in the parking lot, the 2024 version of Kentucky’s annual intrasquad scrimmage was unique.
Kentucky held more of a practice inside the stadium during Moving Day at Augusta National, but we did get to see a long 11-on-11 team period in front of fans. New quarterback Brock Vandagriff looked the part. Jason Patterson and Hardley Gilmore IV shined with the second-team offense. The defense is still dealing with a massive injury bug. There was actual legitimate tempo and some pace of play from the offense.

Brock vandagriff will be a monster
Well he's used to practicing against stars at georgia. This team is tiny. The games probably moving very slow for brock going from playing against 5 stars to 2 stars . 😂
Came here to see how Brock did (I'm a UGA fan) but now I'm wondering why there is no tackling going on?

This is a spring game, just a scrimmage, college football season starts in September so this isn't a real game, just an open practice really, hope this helps 😃

@@tizzo2 it's the risk you gotta take to get meaningful reps in the spring. As a UGA fan I watched our spring game and it was full contact. Also watched a little of the LSU spring game and it was full contact so I'm wondering why Kentucky is playing two hand tag.

I'm not 12, but the band playing in the beginning and stoops walking across the field sounds like fart noises...

It wasn’t a blue/ white game. It was just an open practice. Stoops said to many defensive linemen were out hurt or recovering from injuries to have an actual game. I think Stoops is liking this not having a game. It’s been what now 4 years?

It was pretty bad, maybe 1500 tops, likely closer to 1000

@@truevfl6556you do realize it wasn’t a real game? That’s why it wasn’t aired on anything it was more like a practice even had a 7on7 period. Also why would you not have those in spring and risk injury

I didn’t even know it was going on or I would’ve went. Made me realize how Cal mediocrity had helped the football team. With the new bball head coach announcement, I hadn’t heard anything about football.
