Bow down was about how record company’s change a band to fit what they want and not the band. And how bands change sounds to be mainstream, basically them saying they aren’t going that route and they are gonna do what they want.
I gotte say that even though they got more in the direction of mainstream in their second record they didn't really sound like pop. Because rock and metal are genres that get associated with violence and death pretty often, Rock and pop don't quite mix and that's because of the texts. I Prevail didn't go mainstream with their texts and also only a little with their style. That can be seen in the singles "Pull the Plug" or "Already Dead". Multiple rock and metal bands that get famous and sign a contract with a label loose a little bit of their original style and try to evolve to be seen by a much bigger crowd. That's the only way they know to keep themselves from drowning in this cutthroat industry. A good example would be Linkin Park. They were categorized as Nu/New Metal and got famous through that. As soon as the hype began altering its direction to pop they altered their style.

I was born in 87 and I grew up listening to linkin park disturbed korn tool. Etc. I have to admit this has quickly become one of my faves extremely fast. I prevail has something unique to offer I absolutely love these guys and plan on seeing them this summer on tour🤘

Their first album “heart vs. mind” was a lot harder than “lifelines” however, they were indie and a lot of people didn’t get into them until they did a tour with pierce the veil. Eric’s screams are out of this world and yes, they are AMAZING live.

Hey I'm a vocalist but not a screamer. I know the different types of screaming like Frye, gutterals, ect. I would love to learn whatever technique the screamer uses. Its absolutely captivating.
