Before we left he said he would slowly drive back to Reykjavik and sleep in his van when needed. I hope he was okay too 😊 See you then! 😉 let’s goooooo!
Great video! Yeah, that was a good decision on your part. Now you have some practice for the next time you try it and you're familiar with the area. You'll get it accomplished someday. I really enjoyed watching this!
I bet the guide appreciated that you were telling him to turn round. You now have a good excuse to go back! It's a great country to visit, we went round route one a few years ago and it has been our best holiday yet. Enjoying the channel, keep the videos coming.
Wow! It’s so good to hear you had an amazing time! Best holiday eh? I can only imagine what you got up to 🙌 Yes hopefully 2025 will work out and now it’ll be even easier to plan :) I’m glad you like the videos!
I think what you’re doing is super awesome. Last summer I hiked some of the fjords in Norway, and did a challenge I came up with myself: touching the ocean in northern Tromsø Norway, and going all the way down to Alicante in Spain to touch the sea there. I had this weird urge to touch the northern and southern most bodies of water on the European continent and your 50 summit journey reminds me of it, and I’m so glad you took the time to document it all and share it with the world. I wish I had thought to do the same! Keep up the great work
Well done Natasha, you are a very wise woman. "Everything that happens is meant to happen". There is a reason for everything. I am quite sure you will understand it later. Love you three guys 🙏❤ Lots of love from Sweden 🥰❤✌
Watching this after failing to hike the Laugavegur trail and it's honestly comforting to see someone with much more experience than me (albeit on a way harder project) have to leave it uncompleted too. I was worried the whole week leading up because there constantly were storm warnings for different parts of the trail. When I arrived in Landmannalaugar there was no storm warning on the Safe Travels app anymore but the rangers told us there were snow winds and they wouldn't recommend starting the hike, especially if you wanted to camp at the next hut 12 km away. The whole day and the day after people were coming from the other direction, talking about the snow winds, unexpected snow laying on the trail and at the first hut and how many had to leave with a rescue bus. The ones that pushed through were usually in bigger groups, 2 people I spoke to turned back in the snow winds not far from the hut and managed to get some sort of taxi. I camped in Landmannalaugar for one night and by 5am the snow winds had reached the valley, only getting stronger by the hour. Since it was basically just me and my tent, I decided to not even attempt the trail which I have been bummed out about a lot the past few days but I'm trying to find the good in the situation. I'm sorry you didn't get to summit that day but it was definitely the right decision. Thank you for the video and I hope you will be successful on your next attempt! Be safe :)
What a crazy situation to be in. It sounds like you ultimately made the best decision even though it was hard. Totally out of your control but get I how you’re feeling. Do you think you’ll attempt again another time? I’ve heard great things from this trail! If you do go, I hope you get some better luck 🤞Maybe see you out there one day!
Next time you’ll absolutely destroy it, I’ve got some additions for you, are you gonna add in the peaks of Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Falklands? Puts more hikes on the board. Sorry for adding more potential miles, could be fun though.
😁😁😂😂😅😅🤣🤣😆😆😂😂 That smoke break killed me It's just way too funny. O M G..... 😂😂. Hey, I'm a hiker! I'm just gotta hava smoke... I love your Iceland videos. Maby it's because I've been there too? Stod in the same exact spots as you guys did. I also loved the icebeach. Got some really good photographs from there. Well, you didn't get it this time, but the time will come. Take it slow, do it right and be safe! (Why couldn't you have chosen the lowest peaks in Europe instead? It's way safer and alot easier eyy..? 😂😂. Operation Just the bottom or something...? Just kidding 😅😅) Pliz be safe my friend
Ahahaha oh I’m glad I put that in there then! It’s so funny I just don’t get it. There have been two other hikes where hikers took a smoke break 😂 It gets me everytime! I mean Iceland is hard to dislike but I’m soooo happy it’s bringing you some nostalgia 😁 Mission accomplished 💪 If I did the lowest peaks I’d get so bored 🤣 but I might do it for the Netherlands since I’ve had so many requests 😂
Hi Natasha! What a bummer! You looked sooo stoked🤸♀! That guide should have cancelled the climb. That was not responsible. He looked like he had a hangover🤮from the night before! Hope you got your money back💰. I admire your empathy🧚♀! At next attempt do a research on the guides! Until then you have a lot of other peaks to conquer👑! Best of luck to you😊
On average it was every 12 steps. Oh yesh, I do feel it was unresponsible of the guide not to step aside and let a colleague take over, or just cancel. It’s a big part of the guides job. You are to kind, I’m not sure I would be as understanding and kind as you are, at least towards the guide company. 🏔️
Awesome adventure. I was in Iceland in July and it was such a beautiful country. I can’t place your accent, I saw you are from Canada, do you also have another accent influence?
Oooo I bet time of year was incredible! I hope you got lucky with the weather! It’s a mix now after years of being abroad I think. Most of my everyday friends are non native English speakers. 😊
Sadly, you didn’t make it (this time!) - but if it was easy, there would be more people doing what you do, and then it wouldn’t be a ‘challenge’. You don’t need me to tell you it won’t always go to plan 😂😂. You helped your guide make the right decision, and despite not summiting, you got to spend some quality time with someone you really care about. That’s more important! Hvannadalshnúkur will still be there next year…and the year after. Fingers crossed for next time…
Yeah it’s all good and super excited for the next attempt 😂 I think you’re right, it was special to spend more time with her, we’ve only got this life. I know you make the most of it too ☺️

Hope you enjoyed my home country!
The land of Ice and Fire has a lot to offer
This is where you’re from?! That’s so cool! I can only imagine the awesome places you could explore while growing up! 🤩

Yes for sure! Onwards and upwards! Super happy you liked it 😄
@NatashaBergen Yes, definitely! It was fun to watch!

You made the right call.
A healthy guide is a lot better and safer for everyone!
100% agree! 😄
You definitely made the right call! The mountain will always be there, there will always be another time 🙂. Taking it all in was great 😂.
Gotta soak up that earth 😂
@@NatashaBergen oh definitely 🤣

Love the enthusiasm! At the minute they’re not part of the project but hey if I’m in the area I’ll check them out. 😁 I’ve got a plan after the 50 😉
Love your attitude and that you took care of the guide :)
Hmmm, what a bad luck that was, but you def made the right call !! Wishing you better luck for the next time !! Greetings from Norway

I agree it wasn’t the right approach from the guide company 🙈so I’m hoping next year I have another option to choose from 🤞

Not a 'Peak Performance' by your local guide...🙄 Better luck next time, Natasha 🙂
Oooo I love a good pun 😂🙌
