The fact that they not only put so much work into their music, but also touring and making music videos all on their own without a record label really shows you how much Men I Trust cares about their fans and the music they create. They will be in the history books.
"Tree Among Shrubs" by Men I Trust is about introspection and hidden personal pain that others might not see. It uses metaphors like "tree among shrubs" to symbolize the struggle to stand out and be understood despite confusion or surroundings. The song explores how past suffering shapes one’s strength and identity, and how this pain and strength are not always recognized by others.
There’s an interview with Chester from Linkin Park where he mentions his depression, and the interviewer laughs in disbelief. As if someone of his caliber couldn’t have issues. The strongest souls actually deal with the biggest demons
That's the wonderful mystique of Men I Trust. There's an enriching, enlivening, elevating quality to all of their music. Doesn't matter what I listen to in their catalog, I always feel deeply rewarded thereafter!
"the pain to match your strength" it's the admiration you have for people you love once you learn how they've overcome struggle that makes this line so resonant
You make no sound As folks gather 'round Like shadow hounds Eyes seem unsound As folks gather 'round And please you aloud And I now believe that no one asked About your secret past The pain to match your strength And I now believe that no one thought You had a lonely past The pain and strengths so vast From mellow seas To houses on wheels To slabs in West lands Hand in hand From yellow bills To slabs in West lands Like bones in your hands But I see a tree that's standing high among the shrubs So only one hand may rest its palm upon my cheeks The only one that I'll need To know why no one asked About your secret past The pain to match your strength And I now believe that no one thought You had a lonely past And pain to match your vein When it rains

Starting a new phase in my life, I can't handle listening to the music I once loved so much. I'm glad I found this after being done with what is now my past, good music for the new days ahead.
I actually feel the same. I used to be into a lot heavier stuff but this does it better for me nowadays. I still listen to heavy music every now and then though. What kind of music were you into if you don't mind us asking?
loved seeing you guys on this tour; the level of happiness on-stage was palpable. they have reached what many artists strive for, few achieve, and fewer still manage to hold on to; being happy with who you are and the content you create.
My husband totally cried with when we saw them live a couples of years back. He’s NOT the crying type. So yeah, it’s an experience! She’s an experience! Both mesmerized.
I wonder if kids my age(16) listens to this type of music, and I highly suggest that they should because there's something about Men I Trust that gives this feeling of inner peace and escape from the cruel reality once you've listened to their songs.

Recently me and this one girl who i had been talking to since last year ended things. It mainly wasnt working out bc we didnt live close but we really loved each other a lot, then like a week after all that my mom wanted to go to some church event and she brought me and it ended up being at where she lived. My heart dropped when i realized where we were and i felt like i would see her at the church bc it was literally in her neighborhood and she would go to church. Kinda like "I hope to be around". The song encapsulates what it's like to be on the streets but almost invisible to the general public

You make no sound
As folks gather 'round
Like shadow hounds
Eyes seem unsound
As folks gather 'round
And please you aloud
And I now believe that no one asked
About your secret past
The pain to match your strength
And I now believe that no one thought
You had a lonely past
The pain and strengths so vast
From mellow seas
To houses on wheels
To slabs in West lands
Hand in hand
From yellow bills
To slabs in West lands
Like bones in your hands
But I see a tree that's standing high among the shrubs
So only one hand may rest its palm upon my cheeks
The only one that I'll need
To know why no one asked
About your secret past
The pain to match your strength
And I now believe that no one thought
You had a lonely past
And pain to match your vein
When it rains
blessing people exist with this depth and creativity, much needed in this weird covid world
