Im a brazilian doctor fighting COVID, its like living the AIDS epidemic all over again, with so many patients dying. Its so sad. Dr Francis is a inspiration for all of us. We have to know our history and our true heroes. May God bless all of the doctors fighting these virus!

I really don't see how they are very similar , for instance COVID is killing a bunch of old people. AIDS was so tragic because it destroyed the lives of so many people in their prime. I don't know one single young person that has died from the coof.

@@replecon1408 You are very lucky. Here in South America we have lost a lot of patients of all ages. And the massive death of elderly people should matter equaly as the death of the young ones.

Don was portrayed in a play I wrote called Hi I'm Vince, some years ago, and he was kind enough to write to the actor portraying him. I really nice man. Humanity could do with more like him.

Don is such a wonderful gentleman. I actually met him once as an undergrad when I was doing an internship for infectious disease. A great guy that speaks plainly and directly on his experience who is not in the least bit pretentious. Looking at the comments section below really sickens me considering the content of this video, and makes me value my education. Who let the infantile intellectual lightweights out of their cages?

@@TheM2heavy that movie changed me. Changed my life and how i interacted with people infected. I was in grade 6 when Rock Hudson died.. i was terrified. My mother was a nurse and i wanted to be as far away from this as possible. I was 12 and I was stupid. This movie changed everything. I learnt so much. I empathized so much. The best way to get smarter is to admit when you were an idiot. I now work actively to support all persons with hiv / aids. And that is now the good chapter of my life , 1994 til now and continues.

Reagan didn’t hate gays. This is what made it worse. He wasn’t religious. But he kowtowed to religious nuts 🥜 he’d conned to support him.
Even threw his friend Rock Hudson under the bus

That moment when in the film and the band played on when this man totally dismissed that Poppers had anything to do with HIV , a silly joke about dancing mice in the film completely shows of the many mistakes & flaws in the HIV leading to Aids theory, oh the jokes & the humour that amuse the people who haven’t got a clue about what really has been going on

I watched "And The Band Played On." I was touched by Matthew Modine's character of Don Francis which led me to this video because I wanted to hear him speak. I marvel at the actor's portrayal of the doctor because he hit him right on the mark. The humor in Don Francis was a extra mention because I get his humor, especially in a field where it is a grave topic. Thanks!

There are too many people now who have been diagnosed so called HIV antibody positive & don’t take any medication & are completely ok well after the ever changing latent period. ,
The fact they won’t say that it’s anything to do with toxic lifestyle in those early days , the poverty trap & there is no real spread heterosexually in UK , none of these things make sense , it’s sad how when they talk that so many people listen to there confident talking style as though they can’t possibly be wrong , they are stuck in there ways unable to even discuss the huge flaws in this theory, sad how they have become trapped like this , the truth will come to the masses but unfortunately it will take these people to die before that happens , they are in denial about there terrible mistake, so very sad & so driven by the pharmaceutical billions being made😔

3 questions for Dr. Francis 1. looking back now, is there anything you could have done differently to perhaps find the cause of Hiv/Aids sooner(other theories),thereby lowering the death toll? 2. do you possibly see some other new virus(related or unrelated to hiv) coming down the road that could be worse than hiv? 3. do you see a cure(?) for hiv/aids in perhaps the next 50 to 100 years?

Reagan helped weaken the Soviet Union without directly going to war with them, and THIS is all you have to say? I guess Reagan should also be panned for not speaking out on the tampon problem that killed women in the upper midwest.
