Wow! Thanks so much for this! The biggest breath of fresh air I've had in a long long time... Including paddling on the lake, taking the ferry or hiking a mountain in Beautiful (but very capitalist) BC. Structures mean so much, I agree... And problematization, asking the right questions, and figuring tactical strategy is so important, and being willing to keep the powder dry and fight and invest when it's more worthwhile for the collective to make a move in a given situation-opportunity. For the capacity to make the struggle possible, but also to get a taste of the sweet fruit we're trying to plant seeds for... Mortgage Investment Corporation buying land for participatory co-ops that constitute collectives/communes so we have a daily base for practicing participatory methodology, that saves time and lends capacity (three people cooking for 20, 4 cars shared by 20, one large heating and internet system to provide for 20) to then move for wider and wider structures that can protect socialist, participatory methodology. Without a new methodology for remuneration, for self-management, for decision making,,, methodology for how you federate a series of participatory co-ops (especially free of a coordinator class).

Easy for a socialist union guy to throw stones at actual working examples of socialism - workers owning the means of production. Also cherry picking the bad examples: New Era Windows is flailing *because* of the union boss style leadership, not from lack of capital or access to markets. Gin seems unaware of the breadth of solidarity economy economy organizing in North America and the role of worker cooperatives as one part of that.
