    I think this is the most I've ever learned from a single video. I think I'm way stronger than the grad I climb at, I've been doing calisthenics for a few years now, never realized how inefficient my movement really was.

    Wow, so good to see someone who wants to focus on climbing efficiency and becoming a truly better climber. Feels like everyone puts so much focus on gaining strength that things like flexibility and technique have fallen by the wayside. Incredible video Hannah. I’m learning a lot, Thankyou for this.

      @@hannahmorrisbouldering credit to you as well for even wanting to improve your climbing this way. Most people never even consider technique but instead focus purely on strength, which while important, isn’t nearly as important as crafting stellar technique. Great video Hannah ✌🏽😃👍🏽

    climbing efficiency coaches are going to be the future because at this point everyone seems to be stronger than what they should be climbing. This woman is the boss for showing it so clearly, and she's very professional aswell.
    I never thought about this difference between the inside/outside flags, i knew they both existed but i thought they served the same purpose so i've stick with the outside for everything. I'm sure gonna try the inside one and give it a good chance. Thanks Hannah!

  • @gunnaruppstad3574

    This was such a refreshing watch. Brilliant coach, could listen for hours, and really nicely edited. The 25 minutes went by in a flash. I would imagine using the support arm as a lever through the entire movement feels awkward, but your movements look so dialled and effortless that way.
    For sure gonna apply these drills in my next sessions. Compared to Be, my biceps-dependency makes me look like a brute gym rat misplaced on a climbing wall. :o

    This right here i why i keep telling people "anyone can do bouldering" if you lack the strength then you require more technique, people like myself who have the strength often use it to compensate for the lack of technique. This video is incredibly informative and i'm definitely going to try and use these techniques when i go climbing next, i'm still fairly new and i think i may have accidentally used the hip swing into the wall a few times. Hopefully i can get this ingrained into my head while i'm still new so i can save my strength and boulder for a longer period of time

    These videos are SO good. I love the common sense explanations of these techniques. I never took a class or coaching session. Joined a partner in their intro climbing class and the staff pulled me aside after my first couple climbs, they commented on how good my technique was and were surprised by how little experience I had. Thanks so much to Hannah and Coach Be! These videos helped me go from 5.7 to 5.11a and now lead certified in just a year.

    It's small amount of corrections that make the biggest difference in her climbing! That change from the habit of back flagging to now, using the inside edge and an inside flag gave her so much more reach! Very cool to see the technique and the immediate feedback of why it works better than just muscle-ing through things. Much appreciated video!

    I wish I could get a lesson like this because I feel like being such a large climber there are a lot of things that most climbers do that I should be doing differently but I don’t know what I should be doing. Nobody makes technique videos for people over 200 lbs and it is sometimes pretty frustrating having no clue how to use my strength in an efficient way.

    • @livingaia4844

      I am a climber who doesn't have the most efficient movement patterns, but I think watching other people and then trying to apply that to my climbing helps a bit

    • @StudioHannah
      @StudioHannah 2 года назад

      If you can climb at over 200lb you must be STRONG! That’s awesome! I can see how you might need different techniques. I climbed with a friend recently (first time, very new at this) who is half a foot shorter than I am and also very thin, and it was amazing how differently we had to solve some of the problems, not because she was shorter, but because I was heavier. She’d shimmy up certain areas that were a lot harder for me because I had to carry more weight, even though my reach was much longer.

      My husband is also a big dude and we started climbing together recently and he has the same problem. He's just very tall and solid but this whole sport and the materials therein are so geared towards thinness that i wish I could find him better resources.
