    If you cap the ends of the pump before you remove it you can let it tip back easier to get the float arm out without spilling so much gasoline inside the vehicle.

    Dear pistonshack. I have a 2004 Volvo S80 2.5 turbo all-wheel drive. I'm having two fueling issues. First one is I will fill my tank up in the needle reads full but once it gets past halfway it sticks and it doesn't move until the car runs completely out of gas this has happened to me twice while driving down the road. Second issue is that while feeling the fuel spews back at me unless I pump the fuel extremely slowly. Where it should take me just a 5 minutes or less to fill my tank it takes me almost 20 to 30 minutes to fill. What are your suggestions on fixing these issues. Thank you for your video and I hope to hear from you soon have a blessed day evening afternoon whatever time it is in your area.

    I have no clue about cars really. I watched this as I thought my fuel pump had gone. I also checked the fuse for the fuel pump which was ok. But thanks to this video which showed how to test the fuel pump from the battery I done this and pump was ok. I then realised the connector had no power. I eventually found out that the fuel pump relay was located above the drivers footwell behind the steering wheel. So hard to find. So changed relay and all was fine. But glad I seen this video about testing the pump otherwise I would have thrown it away and bought a new one. Thank you for a great video.

    Can I ask a question? I could route the wiring as instructed just couldn't get it to feed through. So i used a metal coat hanger. Fed the wire hanger through till it came up then the other end of the hanger I attached to the cabling and just dragged it through. I assume it doesn't matter if I done this or not. The car is running but does it matter if the cable has been just dragged across the middle of the fuel tank as I have done??? Advice appreciated

    Nice video. What were the results from computer scan before? I have some issues at engine start and i think they are related with the fuel pump. It started to happens lately and often that when i push hard the car ( hard start in trafic) it gives me starts engine with problems, not normally as usual engine starts. Sometimes ( at mornings after the car stayed all night and cold engine) it doesnt start for the first and second time. It cranks, and it takes long to start engine, after that during day it starts but i can feel that the engine start has something wrong, not normal as before. Can you give me an idea. Hi, After I OBD2 scanning, I got nothing what can cause crank no start issue. I would recommend to check prime, idle and 2000 rpm fuel pressure. Check for any vacuum and turbocharger leaks as well. Do you have any data from your Vida Dice scan? Let me know, I will try to get back to you soon as I can. Cheers.

      @@PistonShack I made an OBD2 scan since vida vice is on the way...it shows misfire for 4 and 5. I changed sparks, coils (all of 5 both) and still that misfire. Anyway ill wait for vida to see if it catches more info. Checked battery, alternator, all electrical i ok. No vacuum leaks, fuel pump presion not checked ( this week will) and the injector, maybe number 4 and 5 are letting down. Many thanks for the feed back. I’ll write if it is something new.

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  3 года назад

      Oh, okay. I will start with basics:
      Check wiring down to spark plug coils, very often it could get jammed or damaged while screwing down plastic cover.
      Check injectors pulse and resistance and compare 3 and 5 with 1-2-and 3.
      Take spark plug out check for any oil leaks inside plug well. Check spark plug for gap, deposits and wear.
      Check spark jump with test light - should be min 1'' spark jump from coil to the ground.
      Check wet and dry engine compression on 4-5 and 1-2-3. I have a video when I did compression test on VW Golf MK4 (check red Golf MK4 playlist)
      I don't want blame ECU right now but it could be one of the driver failure but it's too early to say.
      Let me know how everything is going.

I purchased a Bosch 30761742 (Website said it was compatible with my 2002 v70 xc AWD) and the new pump has an electrical plug on the top and only one connection to the sender while the old pump had two. I have the same issue with no fuel. How do you check the fuel pump relay. I cant find it in any of the fuse boxes. Mine is a 2003 S60. Please help !!

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  4 года назад

      Hello. Fuel pump relay located near the CEM deep under the steering column. Look for CMI 12 relay - fuel pump. To get that relay out use bend long needle nose pliers. If you have any questions, let me know.

    Where can I find the emotions code to match right fuel pump

    • @PistonShack
      @PistonShack  5 лет назад

      Hi, Trone.
      What you mean by "emotion code"?
      The easiest way to find a right fuel pump is to compare visually electrical connectors and fuel lines location and shapes on pumps. Also you can pull Volvo part number form VIDA or ask your local Volvo dealer .
      Cheers!

      @@PistonShack Hi! I have managed to put the pump back together by pausing your video at a certain point and looking where the various pipes went. I disassembled the pump and housing as the fuel had been contaminated with grit and had blocked the fuel pump strainer meaning my V70 kept going into limp mode and cutting out. With the tank and pump cleaned and reinstalled my V70 drives great. Thankyou!

    Before you make your car smell like a gas tank, if you have a fuel pump control module located underneath the car attached on the side of the car or on top of the gas tank. disconnect and bypass to see if you can start the car before even thinking of replacing the fuel pump. If it fires up when you bypass, its the unit. Why am I saying this? Because $400 for a fuel pump and then $400 for the fuel pump control module adds up quickly. I recommend watching this video as well... ruclips.net/video/Dx6vLRBxErw/видео.html
