This is literally one of my brush hogging combos. My '50 has been in the shop as it is getting a new engine (making it a '52 after finding a cracks in the block when I was rebuilding it) so the mower has been getting used behind my '54 NAA. We do not have a large property, so my original plan was to get an older one in reasonable shape. I started looking and I struggled to find anything that was not going to require a sizeable investment in welding rod and metal. Ran across one of these (I believe Titan makes them) used, but it had only been purchased to clear a lot before the previous owner built a house. I spent a little more than I planned on, but much less than new and have not been dissapointed. Yes, there are more heavy duty mowers out there, but the hydraulics on the 8n are only good for about 600lbs in good working order, so I did not want to push it. I also know some like 6 ft. mowers, which would be a struggle in some of the areas I mower, and 4ft. might be more maneuverable in the woods, but a little too small. With the offset of the tires on both tractors, 5 ft. was perfect. And, yes, overrun clutch is a must. I do prefer the easily removable variety so I can take it off and over PTO when not in use and keep it out of the weather. Just remember, you can not over grease them. They really should get grease, all the way around, every 20-30 min. of use. Nice rig.

I have a 53 ford. Just got the 5 foot square back brush hog. Got it all set up and ready. If it ever stops raining I will give it a try!

Great set up man, my goal is to get an 8N with a brush hog and a tiller. Great idea having the slip clutch for the PTO I've seen that somewhere before too I will definitely do that to mine when I get it.

County Line is the same as a Tarter. I just put a new Tarter on my 1949 8N.

Straight up meat and potatoes. Talk to an old farmer, and they always say that this tractor with a 2 bottom plow was their first equipment purchase.

is it fully raised in the vid? I have a 51 and when fully raised the pto shaft hits and rubs the brush hog frame. I've adjusted the top link and can't seem to figure it out. I was told when fully raised the tail wheel should be higher. mine is level like yours raised 3/4 the way. I'm using a category 1 top link

@@scottt89 I actually had to cut the pto shaft In order for it to fit mine and not rub.

@@NFarmer I figured that would be my next move. I just bought the brush hog a few weeks ago and apparently the shaft was used on a 80's Chinese made tractor. forgot the model he told me. it fits my pto though. do you know what length?
