These analysis help gamers who are also tweaking & testing and changing files configuration of such games.
Saddly, i wasn't able to force high resolution on the following games and i don't know why:
a.) Enemy Infestation (1998) PC
b.) Galactic Civilizations 1 (PC game)
I like my PS2, childhood made awesome. Awesome video and every joke made me laugh! Solid job.
It's quite a pleasure to simply listen to you. This way of clever speaking is a rare thing these days.
in 2029 i can predict integrated gpu's were stronk enough to ran pcsx2 at 60fps
1:18 I know that this isn’t PAL footage because the last number of timer keeps switching between 6 and something (maybe 0). It’s possible at 60Hz but not at 50Hz
@AlezanderNX It didn't
My dad drove a Volvo 240. That’s a real MAN’S car. He even kept a Yorkie bar in the glove box. What a bloke.
That would of been back when Yorkie bars were good eh. Can't remember the last time I bought one, but I do recall them having less pieces with slightly chunkier pieces, then the chunkier pieces getting flatter.
I love going back to old games just to scale them upto 4k. This is what these games would of truly looked like and its amazing being able to even go into VR with some of these titles!
Why does it still look so good?
I still have my copy also. Even though my PS2 is long gone. This video brought back so many good memories. Thanks!
I remember when this game was released, the pc master racers had no pc games to compare with. Then in 2007 when Crysis was released, they started comparisons between GT4 and Crysis. Lol
João Paulo And ten years later PS2 hasn't evolved at all. >:)
This is beautiful and impressive. I wish you'd keep doing SERIES after SERIES of comparisons like this. I can't believe how great old games look now on emulators.
Mad to think Crysis was released on PC only 2 and bit years after this... shows just how ahead PC gaming was at that point (it's much closer now, obviously!).
Comparing it to the PS2 is unfair since 2005/2006 started the seven generation. You should compare it to a PS3 game.
This is probably my favorite video from you.
Now you have to try grab turismo 5 in 1080P on the PS3 emulator
@Lucas Gawor but not impossible
GT Concept works a lot better on RPCS3, 100% playable. Even upscaled
Metal Gear Solid 2 with texture filtering and at 4K is absolutely mental. It holds up way better than it honestly should and hugely benefits from the fine detail gain.
Real chads cut across the grass at 1:15 every time
man this is absolutely crazy coming from 2004
*distant BK4 earrape noises*
I kinda miss emulating my PS2/1 games... sadly I haven't had a CD/DVD drove in my PC for the better part of the past decade.
Buy a CRT and hook up your PS2
Sit on the cold floor close to the TV
Don't forget to bring snacks too
BAM it will look good
I do exactly that myself 😁
But with RGB Scart or Component and forced 1080i or 480p
A crt isn't enough, you we're in the states you need a crt with component video and PS2 or 3 component cables. Composite is ass even on a PS2 with a crt (even worst on a flat screen). Keep in mind PS2 composite image quality in particular, is very poor. Compared to Dreamcast or GameCube for example.
@@retrosoul8770 Or RGB. Or a CRT with a good comb filter, which improves the composite signal.
@@ManOfAttitudeLP1998 Sadly in my country the best I can get is Svideo.
or just use emulator on old PC and hook it up to CRT monitor.
Great video man, totally get your sense of humour. Subscribed
I've been able to play it on a q9550 and a rx470 at 1080p. I'm listing the settings here, if someone wants to try.
Download the last beta of pcsx2 (1.5.0-dev);
Set EE/IOP Clamping to Extra;
Set VU Clamping to Extra;
In SpeedHacks, set EE Cyclerate to +2;
In SpeedHacks, set EE Cycle Skipping to 1 (play around with these last two settings to find your best combination);
In SpeedHacks, set MTVU to active.
Under video plugin settings:
Set Interlacing to: Bob tff (use blend if shaking);
Allow 8 bit textures and set Internal Resolution to 1080p or 720p;
Under Audio plugin settings:
Set Interpolation to 1 - Linear;
Set "Disable Effect Processing" to active;
Set Synchronizing Mode to Async Mix;
While In-game, change brightness to 0.
This worked for me, although there are occasional drops, it's playable.
Great input sir

Just realized that this game has some kind of "dynamic crowd AI" that can run to the middle of the road, just like real rally. I've never even see this in Dirt Rally or Dirt Rally 2.0, the crowds are just standing still like statues
Please make a detailed guide on how to upscale PS2 on the pc with exact settings for PCSX2, I've tried and I can't get it to work, the games are always in their native resolution.
From GPU settings, choose hardware rendering. Then you'll find a dropdown menu of resolutions. You can either go for custom, or preset ones. 3x is 1080p
@@mariozenarju6461 also it's generally recommended to use the multipliers.
@@jc_dogen Eh, both are meant for same purpose. If the game is well supported on the emulator and if you know how to apply various hacks, 0 visual issues
@@mariozenarju6461 multipliers will require fewer hacks. custom resolutions are pretty messy and don't even give you the resolution you put in. they just don't really work well with how the ps2 works.
The PS2 is as indestructible as that Volvo 240 wagon , trust me it went through hell in my childhood , people passing by tripping on the controller's cable was a nightmare , still the game continues working like nthg happened.
it really looks like the first Juiced
Damn that game was good
I'm pretty sure I got annoyed with the first Juiced, because of the autosave/pink slip races.
I've been playing 100s of hours of GT3 lately. Well timed video
I am going to emulate my old games
* looks at new gaming PC
Oh crap I dont have a CD/DVD drive
doodskie999 *iso’s 🙄
Unless you plan on getting the equipment to dump GameBoy, NDS, PSP games and others... there's the other option, you know what.
This was the pinnacle of PS2 game history, one of the best race simulator back in the days. GT5, its successor, brought the most realistic game to PS3 platform, the reflection, numbers of polygons and physical engine was unrivalled. i can't remember how many hours i spent on the games, it was just pure good memories.
But this visual fidelity is how I remember it... oh how the mind plays tricks
@Al Masih Ad Dajjal you're right, with CRT's you did'nt notice the aliasing as easily.
@@oinker4290 you actually do notice the aliasing, but at least it's not blurry :p
how did i miss this video? awesome stuff
I'm a simple man
I see a Volvo and I click
Quick information from a car enthusiast: Citroen Xsara was for multiple years the car that Sebastian Loeb drove in WRC earning consecutive titles. Great car.
absolutely loving all the content you're coming out with, this one of my favorite computer channels on RUclips.
Massive props for the cars you picked.
Xsara is actually a really nice car to drive.
Bangernomics at its best.

This game was my childhood, I remember my dad and I both playing this game in the living room. Good memories :)
I like the new thing you've done to your video rendering, it feels like I'm watching 60fps video even when I'm using 480p.
Please make your content like this
I've been currently playing through GT4 in 4k with extra shaders. It's shocking how nice you can make PS2 games look. Final Fantasy 12 has also been amazing in 4k.
I'm playing like this MG3 for years, last few finaly in 4K without lags and it always amazes me how much detail was hidden in low res of PS2 and how incredible the game is for a 2004 game.
I'm getting a flat 60 fps maxed out with my 3700x and 1060 6gb. Love this game! Awesome video
at 3:02 you are experiencing what I had while emulating GT3. a few tracks just couldn't use any kind of hardware gpu plugin, instead I need to revert to software Direct3D9 on those particular tracks. do some searches on GT3 A-Spec as that title has a few forum threads on this issue!
3:46 also if you are using PCSX2, in the video settings there is a checkbox for "Hardware Depth". Use that to make the smoke and dust from the wheels not visible through the car!
I was so nostalgic today about GT4 and now that I saw your video about emulating it I will try it lol
Switch the resolution to 480 in GT4 Settings.
love it, would love to see a video of you setting it up.
Looks nice, but what stood out the most to me was when you had the audience during the rally race, they actually looked really sharp, I'm surprised they used such high-res assets for them given that they weren't even remotely fathoming the game running in 4k at the time. Albeit you can still tell they're flat sprites but they were good looking ones.
Thanks for making this video. This inspired me to emulate all my old Xbox games on my PC. SEGA gt 2002 is still super fun to play and splinter cell is great as always. Anyways also emulated some ps3 and played some incredibly cursed GTA 5 lol
Bro I've been subbed to you for more than a year, but I'm a Volvo nerd so seeing the wagon in the thumbnail made sure I'll be subbed forever lol
I remember playing this game and thinking how good the graphics were in comparison to anything else I'd played, I thought the reflections were on point and the scenery just amazing.
Now the aliasing gets to me and I'm like ergh but I can still see how I thought what I thought back then.
It was a great game.
I like that you can see the wear on the road, so you know what the fastest path is
Great video, man! Still sporting that moustache? I am.
"Leave a dislike if you didnt" bold, never heard that before
A while back I tried emulating Midnight Club 3 DUB - 1440p @ 50FPS, it was amazing!
Crazy...had no idea. Thanks for the interesting video.
