Those wonderful golfers who criticise a 2 handicapper's golf swing on what is purely an entertainment video are just showing jealousy because they probably paid a fortune in lessons to get someone to tell them they'll never be as good. Seb played some great golf and you were both great to watch.
What Guy said at 45.00 is a point we discuss regularly amongst my playing group at our club. We're mid-high handicappers and we often win our club Texas Scrambles comps and we put it down to this. 4x mid-high handicappers are much more likely to hit shots they can't always replicate than a low handicapper is to play out of their skin and hit shots they don't often hit. We think if there was a maximum team handicap in the scramble comps it would help this but we're often thought of as bandits because of this even though all of our handicaps are accurate.
Re Guy's comment at 11.10 about Dunstanburgh being a bit remote, you don't need to travel far to find a range of lovely courses in the area such as Bamburgh and the two in Alnmouth; such a great part of the world.
I did NOT expect that podcast ending. Kind of nice you guys can keep it light and keep it going with interesting topics. Have you guys ever consider discussing the topic of golf and value/cost in various countries? For example, I'm from Czech Republic, my parents got me into golf, but I now live in the US. The amount of money that the sport costs in Europe is lot higher than in the US, at least from my experience. Do you feel this leads to popularity differences and potentially why the sport still has a snobby appearance to others?
I'm lucky to live not too far away from Dunstanburgh so I've played it a few times. Agree it's a cracking course. Westwood likes to play it also. I can highly recommended Goswick as well, which is near by.
Funny, was in Airlie Beach recently contemplating a round of golf on Hamilton Island. Googled the course and came across your old video on the Hamilton Island. 👌
Loved the action man eyes Rick gives Guy after he calls him out about the fittings 😂 Dunstanburgh is a quality track and in a lovely part of the country with welcoming locals also. We stayed in Seahouses when we went up there

I LOVE odd/different golf swings. For me, Jim Furyk's swing is the most graceful beautiful swing I have ever seen. Yeh you can appreciate the perfect "classic swing", but if you have a funky swing and still crush it, that for me is perfection.
I live in Alnwick which isn't far from Dunstanburgh. I used to be a member there, its an awesome course and for the price, excellent. It gets very busy with visitors, especially in the winter, when other courses are a soggy mess or closed. There are some very good courses not far from Dunstanburgh. Alnmouth Foxton, Bamburgh Castle, and Goswick Links. All are great courses with the cost of green fees still being reasonable, Goswick is probably the most expensive at around £100.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Perth boys chat. I’m also from Perth. Very down to earth interview. Guy that’s what you were alluding to re golf clubhouse - you felt at ease and comfortable because the atmosphere was down to earth. I love SEB for that reason too.
Tuesday: slept in too long but still woke up in time to listen to this wonderful podcast on the way to work. COVID got me in the clubhouse and here I will stay!

My local Top Tracer is the other way around - says I hit the ball X distance but I normally hit it 20-30yds further on the course. The one I use has a hole that runs alongside one of the sides of the driving range, the tee-box is pretty much in line with the range mats. The range ball obv goes nowhere but corrected the distances still seem off.
My local golf club has a Trackman driving range where you can calibrate the shots to adjust as if you were hitting a ProV1 and also if there were no wind/rain etc. So the tech is definitely there
Yes, my taylormade set was 64 dollars brand new p-3 iron. The course I play have player improvement memberships for 50 a month, with a minimum of three months upfront. Which include unlimited range, free clinics, and free walking rounds after 3pm. I played a round for 11 dollars on the executive course, and can play the championship course for 30 with cart after 2. Its can be as expensive or inexpensive as you choose.
i live in Johnson City Tennessee and, yes, golf can be affordable to play. at a local public course operated by the city, Pine Oaks Golf Course, they have what is called "health imitative" play. for $10 U.S. dollars you can get in 9 holes. the requirement is that you walk. it starts after the last cart goes out for the day. this is usually 2 hours before twilight begins. they also have all day walking for about, i think $15. either of them is a good deal. most of the cost of any course goes into maintenance, keep tee boxes, fairways and greens pristine, a way i think can cut down on cost, in the long run, is too convert tee boxes and greens to artificial turf, no pitch or divots to repair to slow the rate of play. i would also get rid of raking the bunkers. anormal game of 18 with a cart is i think 28 weekly and 33 from Friday-Saturday and Sunday and on any holiday linked to a weekend. another good deal. private and members only courses will have to open up to the general public if they are to survive. this is one way to do it.
Guy is right, i started playing golf in july and i was so nervous just going to the driving range until i realised nearly no one hits its consistently or well even
Dunstanburgh is unreal. I played it first about 8 years ago for £15! My other half is from the NE (I'm a Midlander) so anytime we head North I like to take the sticks and play some links! Would recommend Warkworth too, only a 9 holer but lovely little track!

My recipe for cheap golf... 1- If you have a buddy with a membership and free guest passes...PLAY THERE! 2- Never buy "new" clubs. Buy them next year on clearance. And if you look around there can still be fitting options for those clubs. 3- Find an affordable non-premium ball that can suit your game and stick with it. Always look for sales on that ball and buy volumes when you find them. 4- Assuming you don't have a buddy where you can play free golf then find 3 or 4 courses near you that have reasonable greens fees. May not be the best but are certainly adequate. Also, check in the clubhouse if they have days with reduced greens fees or in some cases they'll have days where perhaps you can "win" something. I have 2 course near me, both of them on Wednesdays have what they call casino day. You basically roll dice and can win anything from a free round or even apparel or balls. You always win something.
Just had ball fitting very interesting as sometime slightly hitting up on 7 iron but spin low but got the height to save it went from tp5 to titleist tour soft as for results

I can't stand Pro V1 balls. I hit straighter drives and hit spinny-er wedges with the Vice balls. Both the Pro and Pro Plus. I don't get the hype behind the Pro V1. I'd rather play a TP5, Srixon Z Star or Vice TBH.

Talk about playing other sports, how was your darts game?
Putter is number 1 the only club you use every hole
But Rick & Guy, where's your poppy?
Rick - as an avid Northumberland visitor and Dunstanburgh player… please remove all evidence! Need to gatekeep my favourite place 😂
£120.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My goodness, that's insane. Especially for a United shirt.
haha I know
U should give it back till the glazers are out of the club
I’d trade every pretty and/or athletic part of my swing to score like Seb.
DON'T GIVE THE GLAZERS YOUR MONEY RICK!!!!!!! #GLAZERSOUT
I can't stand Pro V1 balls. I hit straighter drives and hit spinny-er wedges with the Vice balls. Both the Pro and Pro Plus. I don't get the hype behind the Pro V1. I'd rather play a TP5, Srixon Z Star or Vice TBH.
LA golf is two blocks from my place, I went In and asked the price of their putters and never went back! Way out of my range. Cute girls work there though. 😍
What was the name of the artist… Joe ???
