Beautiful and clear for a restored black and white. Lighting fantastic for all the tree scenes. This would have been spectacular scenes in color. Good old classic and John Carradine cut a character role for himself. George O’Brien such a strikingly fantastic actor. Thanks AWOW and Rob for a superb Friday Nite Movie!🤠Yippie! Giddap!
I believe this film is interestingly educational, especially for schools. It is so important to learn how America was built and how much sacrifice it has taken to become such a great country. ❤ One must value what one has and build upon it. Otherwise those who take it for granted and those who just want the food on the plate, they will ruin this wonderful nation. 😮 America needs especially now Patriots more than ever ❤🎉
Hmm. I thought all of the Eastern Indians innColonial times were afoot? They didn’t have horses. And, when did Boone trade in his flintlock gun for a cap and ball model? Movie makers of the 30s took some unwarranted leniency. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
My how movies have changed over the past 88 years! Although it is very entertaining to watch such an antique, I doubt if it would attract much theater attention these days. It is interesting to see what 1930s moviemakers thought important for motion picture presentation. Thanks for posting.
Heather Angel was one of the five Bennet sisters with Greer Garson, Maureen O'Sullivan, Ann Rutherford, and Marsha Hunt in the 1940 classic Pride and Prejudice (w/ Lawrence Olivier, Edna May Oliver, Mary Boland, Edmund Gwenn).
George O'Brien (1899-1985) lived to be 86... he served in the US Navy in WWI & WWII... serving in the Pacific... he reached the rank of Commander (same as a Lieutant Colonel), later he joined the Naval reserves and retired in 1962 as a Captain (same rank as a Colonel). Sadly, he spent the last four years of his life bedridden due to a stroke. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_O'Brien_(actor)
trivia - The great Bamboo "forests" of America were located just west of Virginia. America called it the Cane Breaks. And they were "tucked" in everywhere that nothing else grew. The region was nick name Cane Tucky. The name stuck and in 1792 when the region gained statehood the name came along for the ride - Cane Tucky.
@@AWordonWesternsThanks for this movie, it caused me to check out the Wikipedia article on Simon Girty, an amazing life story indeed, well worth reading!
Yes, they were, gayla. Check out our episodes 12 WHO DIED TO YOUNG and UNLUCKY 13. We give several unheralded silent stars special biographical treatment with lots of cool posters and stills.
Thank you ever so much for sharing this wonderful old movie! Thank you again Rob Word❤❤❤
ONE of MY favorites .. George O'Brien .. Good actor & very Attractive .. just my opinion.😋
John Carradine was among the best of the Hollywood villains. O'Brien every bit a hero, & Dickie Jones to boot. Lots of fun. Thanks, Rob.
Thank you for your amazing narratives! Respect!

Wow. Thanks for that terrific bit of info. I remember Daniel Day-Lewis pronounced it like that as Hawkeye.

I totally agree, pearl. Thanks.
Could you draw attention to western silent movies? There were good actors.

John was doing a good job acting because I hated that sob in his role. Glad he met his doom.
Ugliest rendition of a birch bark canoe I’ve ever seen.
