She was an amazing singer. It's such a shame that she has lost her ability to sing now, but I'm glad that her music is still around for everyone to enjoy.
She's one of the greatest singers ever. Started with the Stone Poneys late 60s with Different Drum, went on her own Long Long Time is very good. Her and Dusty Springfield r noted to do covers as good as the original or better. Tumbling Dice (Stones,,) Heat Wave ( Vandellas). Did two great covers of Smokey songs. OOO OOO Baby and Tracks of my Tears, also did a great duet with him. She's in Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and sure deserves it.
And forgot recorded best selling non English album in US history (to this day still true),great duets, trio with Dolly and ELH, and so much more. She could sing any genre, no one in recording history comes close to so many hits across such diverse genres of music. And, nice part of founding of the Eagles too.
YAH... THIS AGE GROUP DON'T KNOW THE GOOD MUSIC. THEY HAVE BEEN CRIPPLED WITH FAKE, CRUMMY SOUNDS...RAPCRAP AND NOTHIN' TO WRITE HOME ABOUT MUSIC. NOT MUSIC... JUNK. POUNDING JUNK... WE'VE GOT TO TURN THIS WHOLE BOAT AROUND AND BRING BACK THE MELODIC, HEALING AND HAPPY MUSIC,..FOR THE CHILDREN'S SAKE AND HUMANITY'S SAKE. THIS HIP HOP AND RAP-CRAP MURDERED REAL MUSIC. AND I HOPE IT HANGS WITH ITS HEADS PLACED ON SPIKES. AND GROSS, SATANIC METAL. ROCK IS STILL FINE. POP, MUSICALS, ETC. NOT METAL.
Welcome to the magic of Linda Ronstadt. Now you need to hear her rock records, her country records, her Spanish-language records, her covers of big-band era classics from the Great American Songbook, and her arias in the light opera "Pirates of Penzance." Oh, and her trio recordings with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. They're all amazing.
Clear as a bell. Authentic power, robust tenderness. Rare combination of pipes on this songbird. Linda was one of a kind and she didn't bathe in her own reflection. Thanks for your appreciation folks.
Linda never sang a wrong note. I just love how she scaled that last note in this Roy Orbison cover. I think you'd like her live performance on "The Midnight Special" show singing "You're No Good".
Wow, I don't think I ever knew this was a Roy Orbison song... I just heard Linda's version constantly in the late 70's... I appreciate it much more now, with much more musical experience under my belt. 👍😎
She could sing in any genre and did. You should investigate her exploration of the Great American Songbook on the three albums she made with conductor Nelson Riddle. Every song they did together is a gem but "What's New", "I'm a Fool to Want You" or "What'll I Do" are good starting places.
Linda was not only an extraordinary vocalist, but such a wonderful woman. Don Henley and Glenn Frey of the Eagles played in her band in the late 60's. When they wanted to leave the band to pursue their own careers, she gave them both her blessings and even through in some good words to her music contacts that helped them very much. Unfortunately, Linda cannot perform anymore. She's got multiple sclerosis and it's afected her voice. My wife Janine passed away on April 28th,]p 2019 from complications of MS at a young age. Linda is now into her 70s, I'm happy that she's remaining strong. God bless Linda, and God bless you also. You remind me of Janine and I. So much in love. Great reaction as always, thank you both so very much!
One of the greatest singers ever! So many hits. Try her version of you're no good live on the midnight special. She did a song with dolly Parton and emmylou Harris called the sweetest gift. She is Hispanic and has a great song live with a mariachi band called LA chearadda . It is incredible
What I love about this song is that it paints a complete picture , we can all see the blue Bayou. We know it’s home where we feel good where we have a love and we LONG to be there. The song is THE definition of “bittersweet,“ because she’s pining and missing and yet she has this beautiful place to go to where she’s loved.
It's an old Roy Orbison song. Linda did it justice, and then some. She covered a lot of the greats, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, etc... Mad respect for her.
For a special treat, listen to Linda Ronstadt, Emmy Lou Harris and Dolly Parton sing from their album TRIO, “my dear companion “, “a mother’s smile “, etc
Don Henley and Glenn Frey were in her back up band from 1971-73. They left to form some unknown band called The Eagles.😁 Linda has a bunch of hit songs. She also did a couple albums with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris under the name of Trio. Check out the song The Sweetest Gift. Haunting harmonies.
If you search the dictionary for the word awesome, you'll see Linda Ronstadt's beautiful, smiling face. I have followed her since the 70's and one thing is crystal clear; she nails every single genre she attempts. She has given the world her heart and soul, and will continue to be listened to by future generations...You can bank that!
The lovely Linda no one can touch her, she was one of the top female artists of the 70's and 80's, she did this live, no auto tune artists don't perform like this anymore. She was a pure musical genius who explored multiple musical genres and was a smashing success in all of them!
Love Linda Ronstadt so much. She is of Mexican descent and has recorded at least one Mexican album that I know of, but probably more. Her Mexican album that I really like is called Canciones de Mi Padre. You can't go wrong with Linda! My heart broke for her now because she has Parkinson's disease and can no longer sing. I'm so grateful we have her music to listen to for decades to come! LadyGator1983
I saw her in concert in the 79’s with Journey and the Eagles and she impressed the most. Just like that excellence on each and every song! The other two bands were great and then there is Linda great!
The most beautiful female voice on the planet. Sweet and powerful is a perfect description. She has a forty year catalogue spanning multiple genres and she does everything with perfection. That’s a pedal steel guitar. Great reaction “Long Long Time” is another one of her great early songs or if you want something more gritty you can try “You’re No Good” or her ripping cover of the Stones “Tumbling Dice “. Enjoy that rabbit hole 🌺✌️
Linda is my all-time favorite singer--her voice is the best at conveying emotion that I've ever heard. I will second other commenters' suggestions for either "Long Long Time" or "I Will Always Love You". The instrument that was played during the interlude is a pedal steel guitar.
She is the GOAT of female singers - she sings it all - no reverb, smoke machines, lights, auto pitch, dancers, videos, etc - just her amazing voice & her band - her most famous backup band later became The Eagles!!!!! Sadly, her health has silenced her voice now, but we still have her works!!!
This beautiful lady of Mexican/American heritage embrace the Rock & Roll genre like no other. In her later years she did an album in Spanish title "Canciones De Mi Padre." "Songs of My Father." It went triple platinum. She was a once in a generational singer. Who helped introduce the world to the legendary rock group "The Eagles." They were her opening act in her early days at her concerts. They of course went on to superstardom. And the rest is history.
I had my "Love that Linda Ronstadt" bumper sticker on my VW van back in the early 70's. She was the crush of many guys (when we were lusting after Stevie Nicks).
Any fans of Linda on here that love her crystal clear tone but never saw her go full unleashed, beast mode on a song? ...Try "Poor wandering one" from Pirates of Penzance. Wow! She goes for it and crushes it
Linda is a legend, with a tremendous catalog of great songs in many different styles. Well worth exploring, but you started off with one of her very best. Thanks.
How can you not be blown away by her God given greatness? Definitely one of the greatest singers this world has seen. Check out her music with the Stone Poneys, "Different Drum" for example. Enjoyed this and you two. Keep on reacting and I'll be there.Peace
Thank you for letting her to sing the whole number before commenting. She had such a wonderful voice. I don't know why so many who never heard her before have to stop the performance and make comments. Love listening to her.
"Blue Bayou" was my late mother's favorite song back in the 70's when I was a kid. It was a huge hit for Linda Ronstadt. "Blue Bayou" was written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson way back in 1961. A few other Linda Ronstadt songs to check out are "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "When Will I Be Loved", "It's So Easy", and "Tumbling Dice".
back in the 70s linda was the QUEEN...everyone's sweetheart. just an incredible talent. she's taken on SO many different styles of music and nailed it every single time. unreal. so sad that she is no longer able to sing, but, she is handling that with class and grace. God bless her. There is a fantastic documentary out...the name escapes me, but it's really really good. her autobiography is also a very good read
Linda is the tops of the tops. She was an amazing artist with a terrific voice. The way she sang was totally amazing. Her voice was soulful and spectacular.
Linda has had success singing any genre you can think of. Country, oldies, standards, opera, pop, spanish, rock. She is a member of the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame
To hear more of that achingly beautiful voice check out "Desperado", "Somewhere Out There" & "Long Long Time". To see Linda having a little fun watch her live performance of "You're No Good" on The Midnight Special".💙☮💙
Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock. She has had so many hits such as "Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Long Long Time", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Desperado" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs.
Chills on that last lovely note. And I've heard this song a 1000+ times.
She was an amazing singer. It's such a shame that she has lost her ability to sing now, but I'm glad that her music is still around for everyone to enjoy.
She has an incurable disease
She retired in 2012 after learning she had degenerative supranuclear palsy. Such a precious voice and human being.
Doesn’t she now suffer from some type of Parkinson’s disease?
@@inekebaalman3320 She was diagnosed with degenerative supranuclear palsy.
Her voice is still good. Remember, she said she can hear every fault of her voice on the recording of Blue Bayou
She's one of the greatest singers ever. Started with the Stone Poneys late 60s with Different Drum, went on her own Long Long Time is very good. I agree with you whole heartedly. Such a great voice and IMHO, Linda, Karen Carpenter and Whitney Houston have the best female voices ever!
Different Drum written by the late, great Mike Nesmith of Monkees fame
One of a kind, she could sing anything with her range...that's how amazing she was!!!
And forgot recorded best selling non English album in US history (to this day still true),great duets, trio with Dolly and ELH, and so much more. Live and completely untouched by any sound improvements. That's how good she was.
The voice of an angel. One of my favorites. I’ve read she’s lost that beautiful voice. How sad.
So sad, due to Parkinson's disease
Listen to Sissel Kyrkjebo, You won't be disappointed.
She also sings beautifully in Spanish. You should look up some of her Spanish songs.
very true, greetings from Mexico.

The most incredible female singing voice God ever created
Yeah, I've always considered her to be Freddie Mercury's female counterpart.

She was pure dynamite back in her days!

She owned the 70's!!!!! ❤️

Linda Ronstadt could sing any genre of music, and she did! Flawlessly!
Linda Rondstat was a trained mezzo-soprano. The best mezzo-soprano ever to grace pop music with her talent.
She’s magnificent. Time to go down the rabbit hole!
Powerful or tender.,...Linda sang many genres. Her versatility was stunning. Great reaction. More Linda, please!
She sang a duet with Aaron Neville," I don't know much but I know I love you" - one of the most beautiful love song ever. You both might love it!
