That´s a good looking SG-guitar mr.Fritz. Congrats on the new addition to your collection.
I enjoy seeing your cool videos reviews alot.
Just a few days ago I was looking and researching about this SG version from Harley-B. It is indeed a fine guitar, but it seems the previous
version might be the better version. The DC-580 CH Vintage Series which comes with 2 x Volume- and 2 x Tone controls. It is even cheaper than
this version, but comes with a Roseacer Fretboard (thermally treated maple wood), instead of roasted Jatoba (Brazilian hardwood Cherry).
It is a difficult decision to make which one to buy. Both look and sound great.

Hi Max, thanks a lot for your kind words. DC-580 is on my list, and as soon I can get it for a good deal, even used, I will try it. DC Custom I ended to return it, you might have seen and heared the fret buzz. Greets

I have the cheaper version and it does not have the neck dive issue. It sounds great and it is visually closer to the Gibson version. It does not have the headstock enforcement though. I was considering dc-custom but now I don't.

I have this guitar and it nearly drove me mad with 'neck dive'. I tried filling the back control cavity with lead wheel weights to try to add weight to the body in order to counterbalance the heavy neck. It made little difference, I then bought a very wide strap, but it just kept slipping with the neck dive. Then it dawned on me, the machine heads are at the end of the neck (headstock), so if I removed the ridiculously heavy Grover tuners, and replaced them with Wilkinson Kluson type tuners, it might just make a difference. In the end, the replacement Wilkinson tuners did help dramatically with the neck dive, but it still drops slightly, but it is much better. No problems at all with the guitar (after a set up), pickups are fine, although the 24 fret neck is a little too long for my liking, though it has a great action, The finish is superb though.

Good idea to replace the heavy tuners with lighter ones. :). I will keep this in mind for the next neck diving guitar

Put the strap button on the upper horn . Problem solved . Just be careful to put a masking tape before making the hole .

@@jea783 Hi, the strap button is already on the upper horn, that is where it was originally situated. The problem is the 2 octave neck, made worse with the heavy Grover tuners, and the lightweight body. It is not too bad now I have changed the tuners, but the things you have to do to get a balanced, playable guitar!

I need to see the DC 580, 22 frets are enough for me :)

The guitar looks better «in person» than on Thomann website.
Compared to the Gibson SG, the DC is less symmetric through a lot less than it seems on the picture on their website.
I always discarded that model for that reason.
Great review as usual, I like the format, a couple lines is all it takes to sum up the guitar pro/con, the video tells the rest of the story.

Thank you very much for your kind words :). The a symetric body shape for me was no road blocker, anyway some major issue kept me staying away from it.

I just received my DC 580 lefty ( Custom not available). The guitar shape is more like a LTD Viper 201 with 24 frets . I installed a Seymour Duncan 59 ( SH 1 ) at the bridge and this make it play like a very good instrument at least 3 times cheaper than the Epiphone including pick up. Sorry for my «perfectible english».
