    @all:
    Sorry that I did/do not reply to all your comments. I rarely use G+, I only use RUclips to upload videos but I don't like Google's "attempt" of social networking. Since I'm forced to use G+ to comment videos I pretty much don't use the comment feature anymore. I hope you'll understand that. :)

    Glad to see you own a few of the Bambinos. They all had VFD displays, and were among the first makers of these sorts of games with VFD. :)

    Just happen to stumble upon ur humongous collection and its just awesome. I ve also been collecting this kind of stuff the past years till now ( only if the price is right). Dunno why i got facinated by them. But got to say. Its just great having them around. Ur collections are top of the line and in very very good condition.

      Thanks a lot! Meanwhile I own more than 50 VFD games but I had to stop collecting due to running out of space and WAF (wife's acceptance factor). I just love those glowing VF displays! :)

    Currently I own about 40 VFDs. You're right, I had to use more sockets than actually necessary due to the width of the adapters - but it's still a cheaper solution than buying tons of batteries. ;) Furthermore I was lucky to find a box with 30 adapters (for only 30 bucks!) on Ebay.

    Now that is just EPIC! You could open up an arcade with all those games!
    I have the Tomytronic Rambler, but here in the States it's called Scramble (a little confusing since you have a different game called Scramble).

    Unbelievable! What an amazing collection and all of them working? How long have you been collecting? Also, love the Tomy Robot collection. I own a Crackbot.

    What I meant is that game is the most popular one out of all of them. Once you play you want to keep on playing forever. I checked on those rare games you mentioned...yep they cannot be found anywhere, lol.

      Thanks buddy! :)
      My version of Super Cobra is made/released by Gakken. As far as I know Tandy just licensed it. I will add the year in the video description (can't change that in the video though), thanks for this information!

    Well, there are several quite rare ones. Just try to find Bandai's "Hyper Olympic Challenge 5" or "Kampf der Monster" (which is just the German version of "Go Go Dynaman"). I even saw the Entex Adventure Vision more often on Ebay than "Kampf der Monster/Go Go Dynaman). "Crazy Kong" by Gakken and Epoch's "Fights of the Titan" are also hard find. And btw: "Lupin" is the reason why I started collecting, a buddy owned it back then in my childhood, since then I fell in love with those VFD games. ;)

    Brilliant! It's like the color version of Game & Watch or Tiger Electronics. These were a little before my time. All I had was the aforementioned B&W handhelds. Although these were less portable. I'm guessing they also ran on those larger D or C cell batteries, correct? They probably sucked them down faster than you could sneeze a pickle.

      They mostly use 4 C cells and surprisingly don't suck them down that much, imho. :)

    Thanks! I'm collecting since a couple years, not that long. Since my budget doesn't allow to buy/bid on those boxed/complete/mint/etc. ones I'm glad to get them loose for a lower price. ;)
    Keep an eye on your Crackbot, it's a highly collectible one. I try to get one but somehow I always failed so far. :P Btw: my personal pr0n sites are handheldmuseum[DOT]com and theoldrobots[DOT]com. *lol* Those websites are the best resources regarding to tabletops/handhelds and robots.

      Can't tell you the very last year the were produced, but it must be around 1988/1989 or so....

    I have Tomy's Rambler too. Except mine is called Scramble (also by Tomy). I wonder why there's two different names for the same game? I wonder if it's a licensing issue with Konami?
    Also, which of all these games is your favourite?

    • @PiepsiPanic
      @PiepsiPanic  7 лет назад

      Well, hard to say which one is my favourite VFD game, actually there are lots of like Firefox F-7, Rambler/Scramble, Amidar, Galaxians, Defender, Pair Match, Tron, Caveman, Frogger, Super Cobra (Entex)...cheez, I can't even stop to name some! A bit underrated among collectors but which has very beautiful sprites and comes in a special tabletop shape is "Kampf der Monster" (German version name...internationally better known as "Go Go Dynaman") which is EXTREMELY rare! Oddly this one is not among the most wanted VFD games but still one of my favourites. The "Star Trek Enterprise" shaped "Super Space Jack" by Onko (not shown in my video since I purchased it after making this video) is also very interesting - not because of its gameplay (simple Space Invaders clone like Epoch's "Galaxy II / Astro Wars" or Bambino's "UFO Master Blaster" or Gakken's "Galaxy Invader 1000") but because of its Enterprise shaped case and rarity. The one I was a bit disappointed (but I really love the case and its sprites!) is "Fights of the titan": the gameplay of this one really sucks somehow... (but it's quite rare, too).
      And last but not least: The ignition of collecting these VFD games was "Lupin" by Tomy since a school mate back then (at least before 1986) had this game and I fell in love with that "glowing" VFD and I was always playing it when I visited him. I never owned a VFD game back then by myself. And unfortunately now I stopped collecting them due to running out of space... :P
