Mafia 3 was so good fr bro. One of my all time favorites. Pretty rough around the edges sometimes, but still a great game. Mafia Old Country though will be a more linear experience like Mafia Definitive Edition, they said.
I think i would love a Vegas game too but i see why they went this route one Italy Mafia is wayyy different then one in America and more brutal and it’s going show us the Don when he was young everyone said he wasn’t someone to fuck with
Mafia 3 had so many good elements. Lincoln was fuckin dope, voice acting, story, map, dlcs, shooting, driving… The one bad thing for me was how repetitive it was. Wished they could make a new version of the game where it’s less repetitive. Also would have been nice if it was a little more connected to the mafia series but maybe it could if some gets a cameo here and there
I honestly would have preferred if this new game was in 1970s Las Vegas instead of going back in time again. The problem with an early 1900s Sicily setting is that the cars were very slow and the farmland villages in Sicily were very barren and empty. And I doubt that the rural parts of Sicily even had cars in the 1900s, so we'll probably be on horseback for the majority of this game and it just doesnt fit the feel for a Mafia game. If I wanted to play a game where I ride horses in the countryside then I'll just play RDR2. But we'll see how it turns out. Im going to keep an open mind until we see more in December. But i just wished they went with a Vegas setting instead. Vegas as a setting is just way more appealing with the flashy casinos, bright lights everywhere, gambling, hotels, strips clubs, night clubs, arenas, restaurants, nightlife activity, (etc...). Sicily just feels like a very lifeless and empty setting. But again, we'll see how this turns out, only time will tell......
The only way I see this game being a success is if they rebuild the combat system from the ground up. especially the melee. The story needs to be ground breaking considering we don't have a lot of material on this setting as opposed to the American setting(Goodfellas, Mobsters, Casino, Road to Perdition etc). It will probably be linear with a sandbox element, which is good. However, they should give us choices on how we tackle certain missions with each choice having positive or negative outcomes.
I agree they should have continued after mafia 3 we don't know what happened to Lincoln Clay but the same time I'm excited for the old country if they do it right
Honestly, I'm not confident that this game will be a success. They should have just set it in the 1920s in the US and create a city that's obviously in the northern region. Maybe include a portion of the city that resembles Vegas, which would give the players a small taste of what's to come in Mafia 5. But that's just my opinion.
Yeah I would've bought 100 copies if Vegas route was first! I know its on the way but, damn! I was really itching for Vegas route with the Legendary "LINCOLN CLAY"! as protagonists again!...YESSIRR!
I'm thinking that it's not Mafia 4 because it's a prequel and a smaller game. Mafia 4 would be a flagship title and maybe they need to make bank on this game to pay for licensing of music for Mafia 4 and the setting. If GTA VI's budget is 2 million this is probably why.

I really want an open world game set in the 70's. I hope Mafia goes there one day, or even GTA if they ever go back in time.

Mafia 3 is fantastic game thats better as you play, but did have a lot of padding. I was hoping for a 70s Vegas setting, but ill take the old country

Mafia 4 will not be open world like 3, itll be more like Mafia 1 DE. The dev spoke on it right after the teaser reveal at gamescom.
