  • Are we doomed as a country to failure and need to divorce or is there hope if we all just stop siding with our selected political party?

We're screwed, it's been a good run, but it's game over. We have completed the cycle, no where to go now.
This is the circle civilizations have repeated for thousands of years.
    Faith
(People search for deep moral gatherings)
    Courage
    (People fight for freedom)
    Liberty
    (Prosperity and freedom achieved)
    Abundance
    (Focus turns on material things)
    Selfishness
    (Entitlement and self absorption)
    Complacency
    (Loss of responsibility)
    Apathy
    (Freedom centralized, Independence controlled)
    Dependence
    (Govt achieves complete control)
    Bondage
(People oppose conditions, they turn back to faith and it starts over... (hopefully!)

You sure know how to get the wheels turning in my head.

I found your words very interesting.
I watched a series of three videos many years ago called "zeitgeist" and was most impressed. Don't get me wrong, there is no doubt a lot wrong there and much debate could be had. However, the overriding principle that I took from them was "The love of money".
If we could remove money or personal gain from the equation, then we would all be in better place. Politics (such as it would exist) would no longer be profitable for the Politicians. Theft would be wiped out. Why steal a car when transport is freely available to all.
Try the thought experiment by removing the money aspect from every problem.
You rightly mentioned those who would become lazy.... and you are right, there would be some no doubt. But the vast majority would gravitate to doing that which they enjoy.
What job would you do for the benefit of Society, if you were not paid to do so. I personally would be happy to sing and play guitar in open concerts for the pleasure of Mankind, because I AM a musician at heart. I just can't afford to be one.
This last summer I spent many afternoons in a local park practicing guitar, and so many were thrilled including the children. Music is a wonderful thing we all enjoy, but many are lain waste by the system.
I saw a RUclipsr (post10) who really enjoys unblocking drain pipes during the rains. He gets a real kick out of doing this and completely free of charge!
    Anyhow, food for thought!

I think the real problem you run into could be equated to me personally. If there was no chance of me getting to a point in my life where I could own airplanes and do what I really love to do then I would never have stepped up.
At some point you have to admit that every single person on this planet is different and should be provided the opportunity to not ride public transportation if they don't want to. The problem with the entire argument about money is that it starts off on the wrong foot.
We can't remove money, what we need to remove is corruption. If you visit the goals page on constitutionalcounty.us there is a section there about a constitutional council that over rides EVERY LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT and is made up of us. Add that to a new tweak to our constitution and capitalism that it is illegal for one company to purchase another company and I think you'd be getting close to what both of us really want.
To be left alone to live the way we want and to help those we want to help. Taking my money by a group of mafia leaders so they can decide who they'll bribe to hand it out to has to stop.

Glenn Hancock: Yes indeed, I agree that if we can have money without the corruption then we've hit the Jackpot. I'm just not sure we can have one without the other. People in general are greedy. If we can overcome selfish desire... Well, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Of course, here I am talking the talk, but give me a Million Dollars and I'd no doubt become that which I find so repulsive.....
"I'm alright Jack, pull the ladder up."
I am interested in your perspective on the difference between, in your case, having let's say "perfect access to" or, owning an aircraft?
Why is the material possession so important?
Of course I understand on some level.... I spent hours waxing and polishing my first car. Proud as a button I was! Yet somehow looking back, it was pride that I had something that my peers didn't. I had become.... Better than them!
Don't get me wrong, I make no judgement. You've worked hard and suffered long, and you well deserve that which you have. Indeed I commend you on your singleminded determination. I wish I possessed such character.
Anyhow, writing can become tiresome and I'd much rather talk. If you find yourself in Berlin, Germany. Gladly would I shell out the shekels for a fine whiskey, and spend a few hours in good conversation. Even if at the end, we didn't agree the memory of good company would last.

@@hugglebear69 I would love to talk any time. We can do a zoom meeting sometime or something.
As for your question, it is hard I guess to give you a perspective you'd understand if you are not from the US but I'll try.
It comes down to humans and the fact that no matter what position you place them, they will be corrupt. This is the primary reason I've said and will continue to say, that anyone that believes socialism could work is at heart a fool. Why?
For Capitalism to thrive you need the smallest possible government but just enough rules to keep companies from getting too large and buying everything up. In Socialism, you need a very large and powerful government that is tasked with themselves deciding what is fair and what is not. Then, taking from those that have succeeded more than others and distributed that wealth with everyone else.
In that environment you cause EVERYONE to see quickly that there is no point to working hard. It is better to just be happy and let everyone else work. But the problem is, over time, everyone quits working hard and waiting instead for their handouts from the government.
So it isn't about me having my own airplanes or renting. It is about working hard and being able to go fly when I want and know my plane is in great condition, rather than having to rent it for some time in the future and having no idea what the condition of it will be when I load my family into it.

I'm the last year of Boomer. We knew how to communicate. Remember when we had debate in school? Do they still have that? I haven't called myself a Republican in years, I'm a conservative.

Great point about the loss of power with a state only solution. RSS needs to come back so we can self host, worst case your content is streamed from your own server.
