My Dearest William,
I hope that my sudden absence has not frightened you terribly. I regret to have left your side without a moment's notice, but I suppose it cannot be helped. Such is the nature of my work. I have left for you a gift beside this letter, an exquisite rarity, as are you. Accept it as a token of my apology. My work will have me away for the upcoming weeks. I know the days will seem long while I am gone, but I promise to return sooner than you expect. If there is anything you need in my absence, do not hesitate to ask Fiddleford. I will write again soon.
