Hi We had a badger visit in the night (from viewing on our house CCTV) however the CY50 didn't record, it did last week when a cat went passed. Do you know why this didn't record the badger was in the garden for over 15 mins and no recording or photos at all? What are the best settings to have and how high should the camera be off the ground? thank you :)
I am not sure why it would not record it, but come to think of it, out of the millions of captures I have gotten on my trail cameras over the past 20 years, I do not recall a single one of a badger, and I know badgers were in the area. Just a crazy, unfounded, guess here, but maybe there is something with their hair that makes them undetectable by the Passive Infrared sensor system on trail cameras. Like a Klingon cloaking device. LOL! Wouldn't that be cool if science discovered something like that? If they ever do, remember you heard it here first! I honestly don't know, friend. I can't remember ever getting a picture of one on a trail camera, so maybe there is a reason for that.

Your welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it. The video speed issue may be caused by your player. Try using the VLC Player and see if the videos play at normal speed.
Question about motion detector activation time (not trigger time from detecting to recording). It shows in your video the lowest time interval after the last pic would be 10 minutes before the motion detector would get activated again. That seems a bit odd to me. I sometimes have bears hanging out for several minutes in the view field of the camera, so even though my video length is set to 30 seconds, I want to have the motion detector to be activ immediately after last pic or video, so it can trigger the camera right away again to continue recording the same animal immediately after the last video recording ended.
10 minutes is my preference, not the minimum PIR interval. I do not have this camera anymore, if you watch the video closely you see that there is a setting for 30 seconds. There may be a short time then that, but I did not scroll to then end in the video, so I am not sure. But there is at least a 30 second delay, which is a lot less than 10 minutes.

This is a common issue because the camera records to the AVI format. Try downloading the VLC Player app and use it to watch the videos. www.videolan.org/vlc/
I see there is a socket underneath where you can use a 6 volt battery but there is no info on the pin size, do you know this connector size? Any thoughts on using this?

The only danger is that cheaper solar battery banks may not have overcharge protection and since the trail camera uses less power than what the bank receives during the day when it is charging, it is possible that it will eventually overcharge the battery and ruin it. I normally run trail cameras really hard when I use this system so that battery is drained down a little at night. More costly solar power banks will include overcharge protection and reduce the possibility of this overcharge situation, but these can be pretty expensive.
Got this 3 days ago and im having trouble, the video is going supersonic and the hedgehogs are just a blur.This is my 1st camera so any help will be gratefully received thank you. #
😂 Sorry for laughing but your opening line had my rolling on the floor. Fortunately, it is a simple problem to solve. The problem is the player you are using to watch the videos. Use the VLC Player and you get normal speed videos. Most trail cameras record in the AVI format, which is an old format and most modern players have trouble with it for some reason. VLC Player will fix your problem.
@@sambird3050 Well, you have to install it and then open the video file in VLC. If you are on a Windows computer, just right-click on the video file you want to watch and then choose Open With. This will bring up a selection of apps to open the file. Select VLC from the list.
There is a playback button below the screen for this. Move the switch to Setup mode and press the playback button. Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the images.
I’ve just gone one of these - I’ve tried to set recording time (to record from 1am to 6.30am but for some reason nothing recorded? It recorded fine the night before without the timer? Not sure if I’ve gone something wrong?
Maybe nothing moved in front of it? I would taste it out by moving around in front of the camera while it is set to record and make sure it is detecting motion.
@@kjrann2527 If you are not used to using military time, it can be easy to get it mixed up. If you want to set it to run from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, your need to set the start time to 18:00 and the stop time to 6:00.
This camera uses a 24-hour time system. The AM and PM designations are for a 12-hour time system. In a 24-hour time system, there is no AM or PM. Time starts at Midnight or 00:00 and then makes a 24-hour loop. So, 06:00 = 6:00 AM 18:00 = 6:00 PM The simplest way for people who have never used a 24-hour time system to understand it is to add 12 hours to any AM time. For example. 5:00 am + 12 hours = 17:00 which the same as 5:00 pm 9:30 am + 12 hours = 21:30 which the same as 9:30 pm 1:15 am + 12 hours = 13:15 which the same as 1:15 pm You can also just subtract 2 hours from the afternoon time like this. If the trail camera reads, 16:54 subtract two hours and you know that the pictures were taken at 4:54 pm Just try to remember that everything is the same in the 12-hour and the 24-hours time system up until NOON. 05:00 is 5:00 am and 11:00 is 11:00 am. Once you pass NOON, you just need to subtract 2-hours from the time stamp to get the PM equivalent. I hope this helps.

I have the cy50 but I don't have the loop recording feature...can anyone give me any suggestions
It should be in the settings, but the name may not be Loop Recording. Different firmware versions may have different names for it.
