For the disallowed Palace goal, City stopped playing because the whistle went as soon as he touched the ball. The player who did it, isn't the one who scored, Dias puts his hand up and Ederson doesn't even dive. There's no way you can give it after that after the whistle has gone during play. As for seeing no justification for the ref blowing the whistle. There's a few actually. Gallagher states that the player raised his leg to challenge for the ball, before it left the keepers hands which is an infringement in itself. I've checked the replay again and he does raise his leg and step across, as Ederson is still swinging his arm. Others have said the attacker ran from the keeper's blind side before he did that too, which is not allowed either(Ederson is looking the other way and doesn't see him coming). If you watch it back in that context it's against the spirit of the game to have players doing that in the penalty box, get out of the way so the game can continue. I know people want City to drop points but do we really want goals like that in what we call the best league in world football? I don't think so. I've also said in another comment that their second goal shouldn't have counted either because deliberate or not, a forearm to the face with the ball in play, should have a been a City freekick. There's no two ways about it, hand or arm to the face is a freekick anywhere on the pitch, regardless of intent.

I love how the none City fans are adamant about the decision that went City's way against Palace, for the disallowed goal. Yet nothing was said about Palace's second goal before that, which came after a corner that should never have been given. The ref clearly saw that forearm to the face of Cancelo, everyone in the stadium did and he was much closer, he didn't blow because he didn't want to make a decision on the red card. That's always a free kick at the very least, anywhere on the pitch, then you look at the intent after, to decide if a card is due. So no, Palace never even nearly "deserved" to be 0-3 up at any point of that game, when it comes down to the correct decision being made. As for excuses for VAR not being able to bail the ref out for not giving the freekick, isn't it time we apply some common sense to VAR? It makes sense that you only do a VAR check for certain scenarios, I get that. But if the ref has made another mistake(not giving a free kick in this case) AND they have done a check for something else(eg red card)... If the whole point of VAR is to get the correct decisions when it's used, isn't it a ridiculous thing to say: "Ah but it's not a red card, so we have to ignore he made another obvious error by not giving a free kick to City". Where is the common sense in that? You've done the check, you know what call should have been made... So tell the ref to award a free kick. Stop leaving these grey areas when it's obvious what VAR should be telling the ref, it takes no extra time. "We don't think it was deliberate, but the ball was still in play and he's fouled the player while trying to hold him off for the corner. Freekick City".
