I must admit that i love the 1x setup. I’m riding a Sram Red AXS 46 chainring with a 10-28 or 10-33 depending the terrain. I never felt that I needed a 2x system again. I live in Flanders (Belgium) so it’s just some short steep hills but nothing i could not do with a 46/33. Also I don’t understand the negative comments about the range. In the past (first generation 11 speed campagnolo) my smallest gear was a 39/25 which is a bigger gear than 46/33. I find that the 46 in combination with the 17/16/15/14/13/12/11/10 teeth (10-28 cassette) has a nice build up in speed with 90rpm. Read this like not huge gaps. Where with a normal 52, one gear change can be a lot. I can understand when you are racing or being a pro that a bigger chainring makes sense but if your not a pro or not racing 46-10 can make you fast enough. The combination 46-10 with 90rpm = 52km/h. Also it’s more quiet, better rear shifting, lighter and not to be afraid off chaindrops. My only complaint is that Sram needs to make normal 48 and 50 chainrings and no aero direct mount versions. It cost more and to replace it, with power meter, it also cost a lot more. But I think with the new Sram res groupset coming they will follow more the design of the Rival groupset.
Also wanna say I appreciate how seriously you take this channel. I see you replying all questions and looking up answers to detail questions. That is an sworks level of customer service. Sucks you aren't my LBS. People in your area would be crazy to buy elsewhere

Tarmac SL7 Di2 with 52/36 chainring and 11-30 cassette gives a ratio range of 1.20-4.7. The Tarmac SL7 SRAM eTap 1x with 46 chainring and 10-36 cassette gives a ratio range of 1.28-4.6 The lower number is best for climbing and the higher number is best for sprinting so basically Di2 is a better option both for climbing and for sprinting but the differences are pretty small. Besides the gaps between gear shifts (more dramatic changes with x1) and weight (with vs without front derailleur and extra chainring) what are the other things to consider? and most importantly, the 1x bike has about the same overall range, but bigger jumps? How does this affect cadence when shifting?
okay.... yes like you said on the 2x setup with the shimano your going to get more gear maximums and minimums then the 1x setup but what the sram one buy does so well is that its so specific to whatever terrain that you can make it better for your location. Like if your flat then you can run a 48 or 50t front chain ring and have a 10-26 or 10-28 back and have a lot hard top end gear but still have enough gear to climb the small hills because 50-28 is a very easy gear for Florida and that's all we need. same goes for hill climbing if you like but if your more in the middle and run into some big climbs but also some long flats then maybe you want to stick with a 2x setup if your competitive in the group rides but this all could not matter as well if you just ride by yourself and go at your own pace you might have the perfect setup.... but its all preference to that rider and what they feel comfortable for gearing if they like to run more cadence pedal stroke or they run a more power setup and have massive quads and just like top push through pain... its all up to the rider...... i hope this help[ed and a lot of it is just preference riding but it all comes down to what feels more comfortable to you..

@@aivarb no they make another cover to compensate that, its a cap cover that has a circular cut out top so you can drop the stem and still cover that area up, its very simple and the bike comes with the piece
I don't think the one chainring is a downside... in a very standard scenario, e.g. (700x25c Tyres) 46x10 @ 90rpm = 32.6 mph | I think it depends how fast you ride. I think 32mph is fairly quick on a flat. - I obtained the calculation from the mobile app, 'GearCalculator' nice tool to have.
Not a downside at all I just have a lot of customers who sprint at like 40-45 not a flex or nothing but there the ones saying that. You spin out on the lead out. It’s not bad at all

sorry i dindt mean that the 1x setup is not good for flat terrain. Its actually a really good setup for flat terrain.... i just meant that specific gear combination that came on that pro.... i believe its a 46 front chain ring and a rear 10 cassette so that's almost about the same power as a 52 front and a 11 rear.... but a lot of the guys down here in Florida want at least a 48 front or even a 50 front and run a 10 tooth cog in the back.... the sprinters are spinning out in the high end speeds and not having enough gear in the 46/10 configure. I hope that clears it up and thanks so much for watching
specialized make great bike, but these new bikes prices are just insane. Same spec on the gaint tcr advance pro 0, you get dual side power meter for 5400, still expensive but better value. Considering they make this in the same factory by the same team of guys. And we all know they don't change out the machine tolerance for just specialized or trek. so all the added cost are just pure profit for Specialized which is already a lot. considering the margin on these high end bikes are crazy.
Louie Go it’s not inferior. They both will give you very accurate power. Just the benefit to a dual side is you can get power reading per left and right leg which can see if you favor a side more and maybe fix it and make you more efficient rider
Actually this is Sram Force AXS WIDE rear derailleur... It can handle 10-36, 10-33, 10-28... But not the 10-26. As of now they have 2 rear derailleurs. Short and medium cage. Short goes from 10-26 to 10-33 cassette.
andy4g63 wow okay awesome I didn’t know that. I saw someone put in there that they had a 36tooth now which didn’t look familiar but very cool, learned something new
I am not close to being a pro so this 1x chainring still worries me. For pros it wouldn't represent a challenge having a 1x but for normal cyclist like me those big step changes might actually impact my overall performance. I believe pro team Aqua Blue Sport had a 1x chainring in their 3T bikes and they actually faced issues.

GC Performance many thanks for the quick response. I was thinking about a 48/35 with the 10-36 and wasn’t sure if that was something that worked with the Force set, but to your experience it does?
15lb 8oz... are you sure? That's 7,030g... a whopping 320g less than what Specialized says the 56cm weighs. 15lb 8oz sounds way too low. You said the 56cm Ultegra Di2 red one weighed 16lb 9oz and Ultegra Di2 2x should weigh about 120g less than SRAM Force AXS 1x.
yea, I'm not making it up, that's what my park tool stand weighed it in at. It could be off a little, or maybe malfunctioned or maybe the red paint is heavier to achieve that real cool looking gloss red. But i mean the 1x doesn't have a second chain ring, doesn't have a braze on mount for the front derailleur.... doesn't have a front derailleur, also doesn't have a junction box or a bigger battery or wires running through it. It could be off a little bit off. where does specialize list the weights of there bikes???
@@GCPerformance18 In all the press releases that I read which mentioned weight, they had manufacturer's claimed weight of 7.3kg. For example: www.bikeradar.com/news/2021-specialized-tarmac/ and granfondo-cycling.com/specialized-s-works-tarmac-sl7-review/ Granted, they only quote the Di2 bike, but Ultegra Di2 2x should be about 120g less than SRAM Force AXS 1x, all things considered. I can't imagine the difference in paint would be more than 100g, and certainly not 390g (difference of your measured weight and groupsets). What's more, the Di2 bike you measured was 200g over specified weight... something I'd expect from a manufacturer not 300g below weight. Just bizarre. Can't wait for you to weigh a second one to see if you get the same result. If so, this is a ringer.

Pricing the bike in a way that only creates access via stupid amounts of debt is so AMERICAN. Way to go, Specialized and all the boot lickers who push their products.
@@GCPerformance18 It's the result of cheap credit, and it is a major source of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer in the U.S. The research supports this. Marketers and influencers, retailers, exacerbate the problem. Sellers can inflate the price of goods and services, then bait buyers with cheap credit which makes them think they can afford it. Less experienced (aka, younger) users of credit think leveraging purchases is the norm. Then the unexpected happens, like a virus, or a bubble burst in the economy. Bankruptcy among millennials is an epidemic. Just because Specialized and other bike manufacturers can get away with it, doesn't make it right.

@@GCPerformance18 yea, it won't be possible to put the cover back on with those top spacers, it looks like water would have a higher chance to enter the stem without the cover. I'd say it may pose a concern for owners who might chose not to cut the steerers for resale reasons.
It’s not bad at all
Love the white one!! But I also loved the red one you showed in the previous video - wish I could see them both live!
Which color you prefer?
Cheers
Only color wise..... the red all day, if they made the red in a 1x Sram Build I would take in a heart beat
@@GCPerformance18 how you seen the silver and blue one, I am been debating. but it seems all are out of stock now.
Richard zhang I’m trying to get one in and as soon as I have one coming in I’ll do a video on it.
Heys. Does that mean that, if I wanted to change the chainring, I can’t reuse the current power meter?
no you can use it you just have to get the right chainring for that spider that fits it
What is the biggest chainring you can use. 48,50?
For one by they have an aero chainring that can be a 52t
These wheels Tubeless compatible or not like the new ones?
They are not tubeless. Do not make them tubeless
Can the Specialized Venge clip-on aero bar be attached to the Specialized Tarmac SL7 stem?
Yes they make an attachment for them
@@GCPerformance18 but is is the same or a different one? I have a Venge clip-on aero bar, will I be able to attach it to the Tarmac SL7?
Daniel Villa yes they will work on the tarmac
This is the hottest looking!! And 1X.
The white is beautiful
Oh wow now I am so excited as I’ve got one on order here in UK - collecting next week. I’m going to put Turbo Cotton gummies on her
just to break up the black/white combo.
Cottons on a white bike always looks amazing!!!!
Congratulations on the new bike!!!
Whats the benefit of going with a 1x setup?
SoleFreak just a cleaner look, not a real benefit but if you do want the front derailleur on there and you want to save some weight you can too but that’s really it
@@GCPerformance18 How about gearing? Does having a 2x help with steep hills?
How much does it weigh?
I do not have this bike anymore i am sorry
Best bike ever 🤘🏼🔥
You would know..... lmao
Please tell me more! I’m dreaming about this bike and it’s unique specs. How is the 1x on the road? And GC Performance when will these bikes be available again?? I want one. I’m in California but still I want it haha.
@@turnerdrywallrestoration8077 lol i think i did an update video on the bike too on my channel....... the 1 by on the road is so smooth, you dont have to worry about an rubbing on the front derailleur and yes these bikes will be available again, hopefully your local bike shop has them on back order because right now there saying late September.
I wanna buy this frameset which is available separately in belgium. Does this really fitna 30mm tire on a wide rim ?
The white frames I have not seen yet by them selves. Only the black frames and yes a 30 can fit on there

you mentioned this 1x isn’t good for flat terrain? why’s that and what can you do to fix that?
sorry i dindt mean that the 1x setup is not good for flat terrain.
GC Performance yes. very clear and helpful explanation. thank you and keep up these great vids
Justa Rando thanks so much for the support!!
Do you have this is size 54cm. Lmk
What is the crank arm length?
There standard
52cm 170mm
54-56cm 172.5mm
58cm 175
Yes I would hope if I pay 7000 that they include a pp
specialized make great bike, but these new bikes prices are just insane.
I was thinking the same thing. At this price point, I would buy a TCR. So much cheaper
Nice bike like the white
The white is pretty my dude
Is the power meter dual sided?
the power meter is not dual sided, its jsut for the spider
@@GCPerformance18 , is the power meter on this inferior to the dual sided?, please explain the difference
Louie Go it’s not inferior. They both will give you very accurate power. Just the benefit to a dual side is you can get power reading per left and right leg which can see if you favor a side more and maybe fix it and make you more efficient rider
5”7 what size for me ?
I would go medium 😁😁
52cm
@@georgefarrowgreen01 yesshh
Is a 48 available for the front ring?
I don’t know I have to try it but if I do figure it out i will let you know. I know they sell a 1x aero 48t power meter chainring but it’s expensive
Also, is that rear derailleur able to handle the 10X36 cassette?
Robert Whyte yes it can, the derailers on the 12 speed Sram are a one size
You won’t have any of those issues I promise you. These have been worked on and made more efficient. There is no worries.
Hi GCP, did you have a chance to weight the 56 again to confirm that it was only 15 pounds 6oz?, really interested in this bike if this is in fact the weight, also interested in the weight of a 52 if you have any, thanks again man
I have a 52 sworks at my store i can weight and get the results for you...... I dont have that model anymore but i am getting in more pros and I will weigh again for you
Hi, are you in Miami? do you have a store? I would like to pass by and take a look. Thanks

About 400 $ for update tot 2*12 and rolling rolling
Plus the front derailleur too
GC Performance do you need to change the chain also when changing to 2x?
@@sanderjiesamfoek1697 depends if your going up a size to like a 48t front chaninring if not and your keeping the 46t then no you shouldn't need to, and to be honest you might be able to get away with it for the 48t as well but you have to try. you might be able to adjust the b limit screw and get away wqith it
GC Performance many thanks for the quick response. I was thinking about a 48/35 with the 10-36 and wasn’t sure if that was something that worked with the Force set, but to your experience it does?
Or should I even go for a 50/37 so that I don’t run out of gear when going downhill fast
15lb 8oz... are you sure?
I’m gonna get more in stock and I will re way for you
GC Performance thanks for the video! Did you get the chance to weigh another version? The slim weight of this version seems amazing

Pricing the bike in a way that only creates access via stupid amounts of debt is so AMERICAN. Way to go, Specialized and all the boot lickers who push their products.
Sorry for helping the problem
