I travelled on premium economy recently too (nothing to do with China or Air China). Those were the only seats left, I had airmiles to use, so I thought why not. Like you, the seats on my row were empty, but as you know, you can't lift up the armrests, so I couldn't lie down. Coming back I got ordinary economy. My row was empty again, but this time the armrests were moveable. I was able to lie down across 4 seats and relax. Premium isn't always better.

It's my travel day so haven't been able to watch the whole video.,but as soon as you showed Shanghai's skyline it brought back such wonderful memories for me. I look forward to seeing the night view...it's so spectacular. Will talk to you again when I get back. Have the BEST time, Ben😊
@@ychaps no problem Yvonne, it ended up being a longer video than I expected! I will never ever get bored of looking at the Shanghai skyline, just incredible! I saw the lights turn on later in the evening so come back and see that 😁 thanks so much, Yvonne!
Thank you for this video. It was wonderful to watch and listen to your passion for Shanghai and travel. I was really touched listening to you and agree people and politics are two different things. When I lived in Japan, my blonde hair friend and her blonde haired children were always the center of attention wherever we went. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks!!
@@sgalligan thank you so much, Sue! I’m glad you enjoyed this video, I am nervous to see the reaction to this video so hopefully people have an open mind and are curious about seeing China. Many people for the first time. You’re right about blonde hair! I’ve seen it too, lines of people waiting to take a photo with a blonde haired foreigner 😂 it’s all fun and games! Thanks again, Sue!
@ Don’t be nervous! You can’t control what others think-keep being open and honest and those who don’t appreciate it will go elsewhere. You said “amazing” so many times I now have a new Amazon game. BTW - it did look amazing !

I found this a very interesting and fascinating and informative vlog. Thank you. X

Ben, thank you for sharing, it's a beautiful place and your life in Shanghai sounds like it was amazing. Premium Economy is really a must for long flights. I just got home after total 14 hour flights from Rome to Texas!
@@DonaldYoung-b7x my life in Shanghai was great, Donald! So many stories to tell. Wow, 14 hours is a long flight. I could have split this flight with a layover but I just decided to upgrade and go direct, great decision!
I flew with Air China economy class at a recent flight to Singapore from Beijing, and I was genuinely impressed by how they have improved. I used to have pretty bad image about them. They still have a way to go compared to other Asian airlines like the Singapore Airlines or Korean Air, but it was definitely an enjoyable flight. I really liked the food.
@@TheOSouLO I had no complaints, Jimmy 😁

In 1985 I flew from NYC to Shanghai and likewise I had the whole row to myself. I wasn't so lucky on the way back although my return flight was from Hong Kong and packed. I concur the Chinese were very friendly and welcoming. Shanghai looks far, far more modern than it did in 1985.
@@mflewis1 I would be extremely interested to see Shanghai in 1985, Mark 😮 I’m sure it looks completely different today! What an experience.

Really feel excited to me to seeing you come back to China. Enjoy your nice trip, man.
@@pbworld7858 premium is always better 😂 you just got lucky on the way back.
