I recall the 6 packs taking up a small space on the bottom shelf of the soda aisle at Stop and Shop in Connecticut as recently as the 2010s. It was very limited inventory and always seemed like a niche drink. I'm surprised they still made it because it was probably the most niche drink around being that there was already Diet Coke. Very weird drink. Even in like 1992 I remember thinking it looked weird and 80s. I remember being unimpressed by the taste.

I drank cans that were over a year and even very few new ones and most of them were flat. It's pretty cool to see those have carbon in them still after a couple years. Really enjoyed the video, always something new to see and learn.
@@Project-jf3bz if you take the aluminum off all cans are see through. They have a plastic seal inside which is why you should never use one as a pipe lol.

It's not poisonous but it's not necessarily good for you either. If you're diabetic or trying to cut down on calories, aspartame drinks are preferable to hundreds of empty calories from sugar. I wish more pop companies used Stevia instead of aspartame though.

I tried it for the 1st time a few years ago. Just happened to see some at Walmart. And it was probably the last time it was sold in stores. I thought it was much better than Diet Coke. Similar to Pepsi Max/Diet Pepsi. Always remember seeing it in movies and TV, but never got to try it until its last days of production. 🤔
Interestingly enough they still make tab. I know it says it was discontinued in 2020 but I tried some for the first time in October of 2023 at the World of Coca Cola tour in Atlanta. They have a giant tasting room with coke products from around the world including Tab. My review: it was alright.

I can remember back when I was growing up, in the UK, we had Tab Clear. It tasted like cola but looked like sparkling water. That's a very unique shirt you're wearing in this video, love it. A pretty decent belch too.
Here in Europe AKA eastern California we tend to not use aspartame as much we did back a decade ago and saccharin is limited to use in medications like cough syrups, also it's sodium saccharin that is used instead of the calcium one listed in the ingredients of the can of TaB featured in the video. Same goes for the preservative, with sodium benzoate being used instead of potassium benzoate.
Tab lasted DECADES longer than one would expect. They never much updated the label so it always looked like a weird synthetic 80s drink. The few times I did have it I never much liked the taste so I am surprised that you say it tastes just like coca cola. I'll never know for sure unless they re-release it.
I remembered Tab from back in the days when my uncle would come over and was the only one to drink Tab and send me to the corner store to get some! Didn't even know it got discontinued.

To me, Coke Zero tastes almost exactly like how I remember TaB tasting. It kinda disappeared through the 90's, but reappeared in my area in the mid 00's. I normally hate diet sodas, but I always found TaB pretty tolerable. I'll be honest, when I did drink it, it was mostly just because of the nostalgic can. :P

Unless you're used to the taste of saccharin, you might hate the taste of Tab at the beginning. After drinking it for months, I started to really enjoy Tab. It's my favorite cola diet drink. It may never come back though.

TAB was just awful back in the day when it was "fresh", I couldn't imagine tasting an old one now myself!

Yep, in the UK it was literally called "TAB clear" and was essentially colourless coca cola. It wasn't around for long though.
