I'm crying watching this. I came the same way through the Sahara desert and then the Mediterranean sea. We started the journey from Sudan then we entered Libya and finally the Island of Malta. We were 28 people all in the back of a toyota Mitsubishi truck. The Maltese government saved our lives when we were about to sink in the middle of no where in the dark sea of the Mediterranean. I thank the government and the people of Malta day and night. I lived in Malta for 4 years and finally was given a chance to relocate to the USA in 2016. God is good !!!! Life continues with full of hope and bright future!! Amen .
Francis Ngannou. You won the fight against Tyson Fury. You fought the world heavyweight boxing champ and defeated him in the peoples eyes. Regardless of the obvious rigging of the fight, I'm super proud of you for how far you've come. Your life is a literal movie with a script that you couldn't even make up. Everything you've been through to eventually ascend to being a UFC Heavyweight Champ and then tonight BEATING Tyson Fury the current boxing heavyweight champ in your first fight is just incredible. We all know you won king. You're truly an amazing inspiration. Thank you for being so great.
Francis performance against Fury is legitimately one of the greatest athletic feats of all time. He proved himself to be one of the best athletes there ever has been and we will ever see
To be honest, I cried like a baby. This man is a massive inspiration to me now. He practically crossed the seven rivers and seven seas to get to where he is right now and that is powerful. Exactly what I was thinking and my second thought was in that movie the Spanish and Moroccan guards who were beating the refugees would see the guy who they treated like vermin became a world heavyweight champion.

Nothing but goosebumps and teary-eyed I got from this documentary. Francis is my all time favorite athlete at this point and the best part is that he is very much still active.
Until he loses once then you throw him away like everyone does to the rest of the fighters People who never did anything in their lives, who degrade their "favorite fighter" for losing, even tho they had the balls to try. Nit saying YOU in particular will do this, but it's very likely given what I've seen. As a Cameroonian, I can attest to millions having this struggle, but Francis is amongst the few chosen for greatness, he’s whole life went the way it did to prepare him for the Future. He’s truly an inspiration to the millions who had and are currently trying to make it to their dream.

My dad managed to escape his own country in Africa to come here in Europe. Watching this documentary the first time, I knew I had to show it to him (moved me to tears thinking my dad had a similar path - albeit very different and less dangerous). So yesterday, I showed it to him. And I saw his watery eyes, for a man that never cries. He told stories I never knew about. About how he managed to "trick" his way through the spanish border. About how sick his brother, my uncle, felt, to the point of vomiting when they had their first police control, with fake passports. He went on and on for what felt like a lecture on life and taking risk to live the life you want. I stand today because of my dad chose to try. And I'm forever grateful and humbled for it. I would like to thank Francis Ngannou for bringing attention to his story, the story that many in the world live through - and die - every day, the story of immigration, and hope. I would also like to thank Patrick Gavia for telling this story so well, with respect and dignity towards those who struggle through that path. This is art, this is humanity. Thank you!

@@PdronQ I had a similar but more empathetic thought when watching and I thought about it for the past few hours and I really don't know what to think. In one hand his story is incredibly touching and tough, however, you can't ignore the fact that he wasn't in some sort of a camp or whatever against his will, he just lived in a village in his home country and then he decided he wants more and immigrated illegally. I am really interested to know what other people think about this, since he might not have enjoyed his time in Cameroon but what does Europe have to do with this? Shame all countries can't be nice to live in.

I've heard Francis' story a couple of times now, but it still doesn't fail to move and inspire me...what a horrific, yet miraculous journey. What a man it took to walk it.
I was born in Cameroon (now in US), my mom grew up about 70 km south of Francis' hometown and this documentaty brought me to tears several times. I'm completely new to your page, but I have to commend you for the meticulousness with which you put this together. From the storyline, to the videography down to what I have to say is an amazing soundtrack, this is the best Ngannou documentary I've seen on any platform! Frankly this might be one of the best (perhaps unintentionally) immigration documentaries I've seen as well. Thank you for this, it's deeply moving, does an amazing job at immersing you into the storyline, and is just overall a beautifully put together piece of art. I've already shared it with a bunch of family members.
I was born in northern Germany. Privileged from the very beginning. I hope that one day no one has to leave their family and friends if they not want to do so. As a Cameroonian myself, I am speechless. I know a few friends who took the Spanish route to Europe and 2 never made it. The one who did, something changed. He has never been the same. I think this explains a lot. That kind of journey can either build you or break you.
Yea they go through alot I'm from Congo and I've heard many horror stories from people who make their way to Europe through that path. They overcome many life and death situations

I respected Francis for what a great fighter he was already, but seeing this brought tears to my eyes. It's almost impossible to imagine so much suffering just to get from one day to the next (being a pampered American who never had to worry where my next meal was coming from...) Man, I ended up crying, what a sad and painfull but at the same time inspirational and motivating story. Especially going the journey he went in order to get to Europe ,I’m African but I always tell African not to go in that route ,too many people die ,get raped and more ,a lot of those people realised that it wasn’t worth it ,I knw several people that died in that journey ,including children.some also became slaves in there too .
I am so proud of Francis. He came from a hard life, fought to come up off the streets and even after his ex coach leaves and trains Cyril Gane he does what most thought he wouldn't and beat him with grappling of all things. He is an amazingly nice person even after going through the hell. Most people don't come back from that kind of life.

Francis is a legend in my book. Real underdog story that most fighters could only dream of. The fact that Dana doesn't promote or pay his as much as he deserves is a crime.
I think Francis is just trying to raise awareness of how fighters are treated. Look at how he was brought up. He knows what that feeling is intimately. How people use others in a position of power. To gain wealth at the cost of others life's. Francis rise to glory is a tale. And his story should not be forgotten.
The ufc has offered him a large contract for millions each fight. He turned it down, to continue on his old 8 fight, 600k per fight contract. That way he could fight it out, gambling he would become champion & make it to free agency. So technically the ufc tried to give him a 4-6x pay increase & pay him millions per fight. He turned it down, & didn’t resign.

Very touching story. I made my son and my nephew watch this so they can learn how people are willing to die for the very things people take for granted. Watching those little kids working and mining under the sweltering heat and seeing what Francis had to go through shocked them. Well produced.

Fucking bawling my eyes out, Francis Ngannou’s story is like an epic myth of a legendary warrior, but it’s REALITY!!!!! What an incredible man, beyond inspirational, and he is still so humble and compassionate towards his fellow people. The courage he has to have beaten all the odds to be the heavyweight champion of the world in MMA, it’s breathtaking! This man deserves everything he’s asking for and then some from the UFC. Those fighters sacrifice their bodies and risk so much for payouts that are so meager and small compared to the lion’s share of profit that goes to the greedy guts running the organization. Dana White demonstrated such pathetic immaturity and cowardice yesterday, not even enough respect for the basic gesture to put the belt on the undisputed reigning champion. Shameful. I just hope Francis can focus on recovering and healing from his injuries, and his victory and efforts speak volumes for themselves about who the real fighting winner is because if he can survive the desert, the ocean, and the hardships of his journey to get here, he will have no issue overcoming this battle to be given the dignity, reverence, and fair compensation he more than rightfully deserves!!!!!
I did not even notice Dana didn't put the belt on him! I was just in so much awe of Ngannou especially when hearing he was fighting injured. People like Dana are willfully ignorant of the struggles of men and women like Ngannou. They are all over the world and amazing souls. This just goes to show you the hidden gems in this world. One of the greatest MMA heavyweights of all time almost never was had he not chosen to risk his life to travel to France, had he continued to fail or even died on his mission to get there. Makes you wonder how many didn't make it that could've been an all time great in any sport, or a leading mind in science or medicine or someone who could've changed the world for the better.

You know I have always thought that the most hungry people for success come from the hardest backgrounds. They know the best way out of poverty is through hard work and sheer determination. We have it to easy with everything on a platter....education, health care, welfare and we take it for granted. Then we watch how people risk their lives to have our 'normality' ...kinda puts things into perspective. Most of us have became quite passive in our lives, we don't have that hunger and it's a shame really. This guy deserves it all and more.

Today i let myself down, i am 22 years old and from the age of 18 i am telling my mom that her son will save the family. In the 4 years nothing in my life has changed, thoughts came in my head that everything what i said to her for the past 4 years were lies i lost hope in myself and i was feeling so bad that i cannot make her proud. Crazy but it doesnt show everything. Crossing the desert and after each failed attempt cross Marroco again… to try multiple times, is crazy. And all to go to Spain and get arrested. To then be released to be a homeless… and now HW King. Insane.

You couldn't make a documentary about Ngannou's life and hardships any better than this. This is high budget, top tier level documentary. Wow, just WOW. I am insanely impressed by every frame in this. You have to get this to him somehow, this shows how far he has come. You immortalised him.

It's really interesting to see the dichotomy between Ngannou and Khabib and how their fathers had completely opposite impacts on their lives, yet they rose to the same level in their respective domains.

However, Khabib is from an extremely poor Dagestan and his life is rifed with physiological, emotional, financial struggles in his own way. Sure Khabib had his edges but Ngannou is at the top of the pinnacle in the highest weight class and different edges when faced with excruciating circumstances like Ngannou's migration, father, are a catalyst to what he is today. Why does the world need to suffer this much? I just can't put my heart to rest seeing small children in those conditions. Their only fault is to be born in a horrible world. Francis is the definition of a true warrior that knows the meaning of fighting for survival. I feel so privileged to the point I'm almost ashamed of myself. He's a hero to my eyes.

Read the book : My Descent Into Death by Howard Storm. It explains how the world is the way it is. I was never a Christian nor believed in a higher power til I read that book about a man's account of events after dying and what he experienced. I was skeptical at first, but the stuff he described you just can't make up.

People see the size of his punch and the size of his muscles and think thats why he became a champion, when in reality its the sheer gargantuan size of his heart... There is no shortage of tall men with muscles in this world... but a man who could endure what Francis has without ever wavering in his pursuit of his own envisioned destiny... ... that is unfathomably rare indeed.

A lot Nigerians and west Africans in general go through this journey. It’s actually insane. I know people that have tried and we never heard from them again (probably dead or arrested). Francis is an inspiration and I will forever root for him. I hope he surpasses Stipe and becomes the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Winning the Stipe trilogy would be a good step but I don’t know how drastically different his legacy becomes if (and that’s a big if considering Saturday) he becomes the first to beat Jon. Having Jon, Ciryl and Stipe I think would put him 2nd or 3rd all time. He NEEDS to tie three title defenses though considering Stipe won the belt twice and defended four times, once against himself and one of the other against Daniel fucking Cormier, who’s the greatest fighter either guy has ever fought.

Francis deserves being a champion more than anyone else. He rose with the HEART of a champion & NEVER gave up. He didn't come from privilege, or money. Many fighters would never survive that life, much less become the heavy weight champion of the #1 fighting championship on planet earth.
Hey man, am an African from Cameroon in the United States. This is the best documentary I've ever seem seen. Looking at it made me cry bc I can relate to it in a different way. We go through a lot trying to make a better life just bc of the failure and selfishness of our government system. My story is similar to this but not as a boxer rather becoming an entrepreneur. One day I will be have my own documentary and my story to inspire others. Keep up the good work man this video is amazing. Thanks.

For anyone who has struggled and feels as if their life is worthless and over, and you are just waiting to die or just end yourself….look at Francis’ story. If it were not for all his struggles, which are WAY worse than 99% of ours. If it were not for the pain and despair he went through, if were not for the crappy hand he was dealt in life. He would not be heavyweight champion of the world. No matter how afraid we are, or how impossible or painful life is. We can take the difficult path and face it head on and will come out on the other side as the best of ourselves. There is so much hell I have gone through in my life but looking back on it it was all for a purpose and it NEEDED to happen. I thought God was cursing me and punishing me but in reality he was helping to build me up to serve his will and to get to a point in my life today where my life has meaning and purpose.

I'm crying watching this. I came the same way through the Sahara desert and then the Mediterranean sea. We started the journey from Sudan then we entered Libya and finally the Island of Malta. We were 28 people all in the back of a toyota Mitsubishi truck. The Maltese government saved our lives when we were about to sink in the middle of no where in the dark sea of the Mediterranean. I thank the government and the people of Malta day and night. I lived in Malta for 4 years and finally was given a chance to relocate to the USA in 2016. God is good !!!! Life continues with full of hope and bright future!! Amen .

My dad managed to escape his own country in Africa to come here in Europe. Watching this documentary the first time, I knew I had to show it to him (moved me to tears thinking my dad had a similar path - albeit very different and less dangerous). So yesterday, I showed it to him. And I saw his watery eyes, for a man that never cries. He told stories I never knew about. About how he managed to "trick" his way through the spanish border. About how sick his brother, my uncle, felt, to the point of vomiting when they had their first police control, with fake passports. He went on and on for what felt like a lecture on life and taking risk to live the life you want. I stand today because of my dad chose to try. And I'm forever grateful and humbled for it.
I would like to thank Francis Ngannou for bringing attention to his story, the story that many in the world live through - and die - every day, the story of immigration, and hope. I would also like to thank Patrick Gavia for telling this story so well, with respect and dignity towards those who struggle through that path. This is art, this is humanity. Thank you!

In one hand his story is incredibly touching and tough, however, you can't ignore the fact that he wasn't in some sort of a camp or whatever against his will, he just lived in a village in his home country and then he decided he wants more and immigrated illegally. I am really interested to know what other people think about this, since he might not have enjoyed his time in Cameroon but what does Europe have to do with this? I was born in Cameroon (now in US), my mom grew up about 70 km south of Francis' hometown and this documentaty brought me to tears several times. I'm completely new to your page, but I have to commend you for the meticulousness with which you put this together. From the storyline, to the videography down to what I have to say is an amazing soundtrack, this is the best Ngannou documentary I've seen on any platform! Frankly this might be one of the best (perhaps unintentionally) immigration documentaries I've seen as well.
Thank you for this, it's deeply moving, does an amazing job at immersing you into the storyline, and is just overall a beautifully put together piece of art. I've already shared it with a bunch of family members.

He came from a hard life, fought to come up off the streets and even after his ex coach leaves and trains Cyril Gane he does what most thought he wouldn't and beat him with grappling of all things. He is an amazingly nice person even after going through the hell. Most people don't come back from that kind of life.

The ufc has offered him a large contract for millions each fight. He turned it down, to continue on his old 8 fight, 600k per fight contract. That way he could fight it out, gambling he would become champion & make it to free agency. So technically the ufc tried to give him a 4-6x pay increase & pay him millions per fight. He turned it down, & didn’t resign.

Dana White demonstrated such pathetic immaturity and cowardice yesterday, not even enough respect for the basic gesture to put the belt on the undisputed reigning champion. Shameful. One of the greatest MMA heavyweights of all time almost never was had he not chosen to risk his life to travel to France, had he continued to fail or even died on his mission to get there. Makes you wonder how many didn't make it that could've been an all time great in any sport, or a leading mind in science or medicine or someone who could've changed the world for the better.

You know I have always thought that the most hungry people for success come from the hardest backgrounds. They know the best way out of poverty is through hard work and sheer determination. We have it to easy with everything on a platter....education, health care, welfare and we take it for granted.
Then we watch how people risk their lives to have our 'normality' ...kinda puts things into perspective. Most of us have became quite passive in our lives, we don't have that hunger and it's a shame really. This guy deserves it all and more.
How can you beat a man in a ring? When nothing in the ring can compare to what he has been through in his life. Amazing documentary. Such a powerful message and influence. What is a man without his heart, passion and determination? This documentary had me choke up the whole video.
Physically it DID beat him, so therefore he can be beaten in the octagon and the ring, but mentally, nothing will ever bother him again.
Today i let myself down, i am 22 years old and from the age of 18 i am telling my mom that her son will save the family. In the 4 years nothing in my life has changed, thoughts came in my head that everything what i said to her for the past 4 years were lies i lost hope in myself and i was feeling so bad that i cannot make her proud. I never saw her proud of me. I don’t have a degree, no money, and i’m living in her house as her oldest son. Just when i lost all of my hope, francis ngannou his story came across and showed me that nothing is impossible, the only thing that i want in life is that my mom can be proud of me for only one time, that she tells me she is proud of me and then my dream come true. Today i know that that day is coming.

Crazy but it doesnt show everything. Crossing the desert and after each failed attempt cross Marroco again… to try multiple times, is crazy. And all to go to Spain and get arrested. To then be released to be a homeless… and now HW King. Insane.

You couldn't make a documentary about Ngannou's life and hardships any better than this. This is high budget, top tier level documentary. Wow, just WOW. I am insanely impressed by every frame in this. You have to get this to him somehow, this shows how far he has come. You immortalised him.

Also that Khabib had everything arranged for him while Francis had to do everything on his own.

However, Khabib is from an extremely poor Dagestan and his life is rifed with physiological, emotional, financial struggles in his own way.
Sure Khabib had his edges but Ngannou is at the top of the pinnacle in the highest weight class and different edges when faced with excruciating circumstances like Ngannou's migration, father, are a catalyst to what he is today.

Francis Ngannou’s journey is so inspirational, from working in sand mines in Cameroon as a kid to immigrating to France, with no money, being homeless, training in MMA, becoming a star in the UFC and the Heavyweight champion, then he decided to bet on him self, left the UFC, signed with the PFL and now will be the chairman of PFL Africa as well as getting the big money fight with Tyson Fury, what a journey 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Why does the world need to suffer this much? I just can't put my heart to rest seeing small children in those conditions. Their only fault is to be born in a horrible world. Francis is the definition of a true warrior that knows the meaning of fighting for survival. I feel so privileged to the point I'm almost ashamed of myself. He's a hero to my eyes.

Read the book : My Descent Into Death by Howard Storm. It explains how the world is the way it is. I was never a Christian nor believed in a higher power til I read that book about a man's account of events after dying and what he experienced. I was skeptical at first, but the stuff he described you just can't make up.
The fight to survive is the most basic human instinct. Take it away (like in the west) and you create a nation of idiots who have no basis for appreciation of what they have.

He didn't even know what his dream really was but he knew it had something to do with fighting and that it was his dream. Imagine fighting for a dream so hard that you don't even really know much about it.

A lot Nigerians and west Africans in general go through this journey. It’s actually insane. I know people that have tried and we never heard from them again (probably dead or arrested). Francis is an inspiration and I will forever root for him. I hope he surpasses Stipe and becomes the greatest heavyweight of all time.
Winning the Stipe trilogy would be a good step but I don’t know how drastically different his legacy becomes if (and that’s a big if considering Saturday) he becomes the first to beat Jon. Having Jon, Ciryl and Stipe I think would put him 2nd or 3rd all time. He NEEDS to tie three title defenses though considering Stipe won the belt twice and defended four times, once against himself and one of the other against Daniel fucking Cormier, who’s the greatest fighter either guy has ever fought.

Hey man, am an African from Cameroon in the United States. This is the best documentary I've ever seem seen. Looking at it made me cry bc I can relate to it in a different way. We go through a lot trying to make a better life just bc of the failure and selfishness of our government system. My story is similar to this but not as a boxer rather becoming an entrepreneur. For anyone who has struggled and feels as if their life is worthless and over, and you are just waiting to die or just end yourself….look at Francis’ story.
If it were not for all his struggles, which are WAY worse than 99% of ours. If it were not for the pain and despair he went through, if were not for the crappy hand he was dealt in life. He would not be heavyweight champion of the world. No matter how afraid we are, or how impossible or painful life is. We can take the difficult path and face it head on and will come out on the other side as the best of ourselves. There is so much hell I have gone through in my life but looking back on it it was all for a purpose and it NEEDED to happen. I thought God was cursing me and punishing me but in reality he was helping to build me up to serve his will and to get to a point in my life today where my life has meaning and purpose.
