This is the best movie and version of Treasure Island I have seen in the last 70 years. A lot of this movie was used, the characters the accent and props. In all the following pirate movies. I like this one the best. I am glad that I found it.

@@BigtimeClassicMovies apparently Newton has the the usual arms that a real life Pirate carried. a Flint lock pistol and a knife or sword

I know I'm a little late for a response, maybe since my first and most vivid mem ories of watching Treasure Island way back in 1955 at 5yrs of age. I loved that movie then, and still love it now along with the rest of Long John's movies. AAARRRR!!!

The best was Treasure Island, this was an Australian sequel. Newton played Blackbeard as well. He was the best pirate ever!

I didn't know I could find movies like this. Amazing! I haven't seen it since I was a child. But I think about it a lot, compared to the dreck that is the house of mouse these day.

In the book, Jim Hawkins was 17 years old when he first met John Silver. For some reason in every film he is depicted as about 12.
