  • It's not even that technical, but all those whoops on a ridge like that had me frozen. Way sketchier than it looks.

Thanks for posting! Great job keeping it steady and on target even though you were super scared. I know I'd be super scared as well. Exposure like that scares the crap out of me. It's very helpful to see that you can creep thru it and maybe make it just a tiny bit less scary. That's what I'm hoping anyway.

Stuff like that is known as low to medium risk - high consequence terrain meaning its not terribly hard but if you screw up there could be serious results. I hate that kind of stuff. Rather do higher risk - lower consequences trails where you have a hard time conquering something but if you fall its no big deal. More relaxing. Good job staying safe though.

Jessica, I couldn't agree with you more. That trail definitely ratchets up the pucker factor! Just ran across your channel this morning. Great videos! I grew up in Cuyama Valley and still ride that area frequently. Looks like you guys frequent that area too. The LPNF in that area has so much great riding from Frazier to the coast! I miss the days of being able to take off from my back yard and be on great trails in minutes.

You did a great job motoring through that trail. I remember my first time on that trail, it looks very intimidating. After a few times it is way more fun. Kudos on posting even after how hard it was. Most wouldn’t post, but it’s good for others to know that they could conquer it the way you did.

Those bunny whoops are ridiculous!! The camera smooths out everything so you can never really tell just how bad it is unless you've been there. Way to go on not losing your composure, facing your fear and completing the trail! I think you are braver than I am.

They really are. The trail would be so great without them. I was just... frozen. And the heavy breathing, wow, haha! I haven't been that scared in a long time. The camera definitely doesn't show how steep the drop-off is either.

Nicely done. Thanks for posting. I just rode Ballinger yesterday--first time there. As someone who usually rides blues I was a little sketched-out out on some of those ridge lines. Looking forward to going back with some friends to get some more experience.

Thanks! Ya that place has some scary stuff. It's hard to go by the ratings sometimes.

Yeah if we can just get USFS to do some trail maintenance out there😂...I've been to Ballinger many times and I want absolutely nothing to do trail 29. The camera does not do it justice....some of the exposure out there is ridiculous.

Ballinger is nuts. I don't see how people ride some of that stuff!

Kinda like Raven Ridge at Gorman. Those bumps are awful!
