Thanks for today's Writer's Almanac recognizing Skylab, Hal Borland, Dylan Thomas's radio play Under Milk Wood, the landing of explorers at what would become Jamestown, Va., the start of the Lewis & Clark Expedition & Linda Pastan
A small correction: When Skylab crashed to Earth, , the reentry was carefully planned to occur at a point in Skylab's orbit so that the debris-fall crossed over as little land as possible. The debris-track began in the North Atlantic. It continued down the Atlantic, around the south tip of Africa, across the Indian Ocean. Only a small, final number of fragments landed in Australia. So, yes, most of the debris that *fell* *on* *land* was over Australia, but that was only a small fraction of all the debris.
As a small child I remember how annoyed my Mother was by news reports that Sky Lab was falling out of orbit and would hit the earth in an unknown location. The arrogance of man to put things into space and then endanger the lives of others. I don't have any memories from that time of what happened, but evidently no one died.
Thank you for this edition of "The Writer's Almanac."
Thank you.

These days of warm weather
Opening season of frog symphony
Playing their favorite tunes
Singing for love
There's no one I'd rather do dishes with at two in the morning than writers. Thanks

As petals of pink dogwood wash down the ditches
Lilacs were my own mother's favorite. Sentinels by the back door but never brought inside due to some silly Teutonic superstition.💕💕
