My Momma wore one every day. She called it her house dress or house duster. My granny lived to be 84 and she never wore a pair of pants she always wore a dress and an apron everyday. My Momma never put on a pair of pants until she was in her 50's. After having 2 disappointing Maytag dishwashers, I researched through Consumer Reports and decided upon a Bosch. I will never regret it!! It's the best appliance I've ever had! ( and I'm 61 years old!). I'm so happy that you have your beautiful new home and kitchen and your new appliances! I know how wonderful it is to have those things when you love having a family and home and have centered your life around both!

My mother had a spare red pyrex baking dish with a flat lid that she put half cooked macaroni in the put in velveeta and whole milk and baked in the oven. The only other cheese was a block or tube of longhorn cheese in the cheese cloth and wax. We would slice a piece off and that was our snack. Good times.

Back in the 'stone age' when I was young, there were still behemoth kerosene cook stoves in homes that were also the heat source. The surface had areas that delineated the locations of the burners underneath, there were removable round plates, the entire surface was steel, that were segmented. You could remove the concentric circular pieces in stages from maybe 4" across to 10" across. These were referred to as eyes. You had access to actual fire, and cast iron was the cookware you used. Those stoves also had a water reservoir in the back.Cooking, heating and hot water all in one. Many times I was sent to the basement to fill the kerosene tank.Cellars in those days most often were scary dirt floored places with one (if you were lucky) working light bulb. That was rural America right thru the 50's, and in some really remote places the 60's. My grandparents never bought an electric fridge until the ice plant closed down and the ice man was just a memory. About 1954, the end of the summer treat of a hunk of ice of your very own, chipped off a huge hunk by the Iceman... Simple pleasures for simple times.
My parents were born and raised in Oklahoma and called white bread “light bread”. (Rainbow, Sunbeam or Mrs. Bairds). My family loves Summer Squash but I pan fry it with about 2 tbs of oil, salt and pepper and sliced onions and cooked them till they browned some. So good!
We always made a rouxwith milk or half and half then added a ton of extra sharp cheddar cheese melted all together. As I became a Mother to my sons I started adding stewed tinaties/ whole tomatoes squished up. And some onion in the roux sauteed.

I have been living in my house for 46 1/2 years. We built in late ‘73. Total electric. 3 years ago we remodeled and updated our kitchen. Our plumber said he could run a gas line, for a gas stove, and also a Generac. Anyway I am glad you talked about switching from electric to gas. I think we’re going to do it. Thanks....... Ms. Tammy, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in mid August 2021. I started with chemo but it was actually killing me from the inside. It was horrible. I lost my hair after two treatments. My oncologist changed my treatment to Keytruda, an immuno-therapy and let me tell you it is 100 times better than chemo. I have zero side effects. As a matter of fact, I can go out to lunch right after treatment, I can even go shopping. Granted at the end of the day I am tired but a lot of that is from the cancer. I am so happy you beat your cancer!! I have to say, I really respect you as a cancer survivor but most importantly I respect you as a wonderful cook!! I lost my appetite from the cancer snd lost too much weight from not eating and I’ll tell you what! After being diagnosed with cancer I found your cooking channel and the first show I saw was you frying up catfish nuggets. You had my attention because I just love catfish it’s my absolute favorite. Ever since then I’ve been binge watching your channel and I think I’ve see your chicken & dumplings, chicken cornbread dressing, mustard fried chicken (our favorite) and biscuits video MORE than ten times. I don’t get enough. I love the way you talk through your recipes, I love your kitchenware and I love your accent. I think I started getting my appetite back from watching you cook, wishing I was there to taste your food (lol). Keep cooking, God bless you and Chris, you both are wonderful people.

Propane gas seems to not cook as hot as natural gas...my daughter and I have a summer camp home that uses propane gas stove but the oven cooks too hot and I have to always get used to not cooking as I'm used to. But you're such a good cook you'll get used to it.❤

Love your new fridge and stove. So happy for you! And I like your new moo moos! I have been in the hospital for 2 weeks and waiting for my system to be built up. I will have surgery to fix something in my small intestines that connects to my colon. Pain is horrible. Praying I get better soon. I want to eat again. I'm tired of being so skinny. Love ya all. Propane gas seems to not cook as hot as natural gas...my daughter and I have a summer camp home that uses propane gas stove but the oven cooks too hot and I have to always get used to not cooking as I'm used to. But you're such a good cook you'll get used to it.❤

I got a new printer and I swear I acted about the same way I praise the Lord to that new printer LOL! Because now I can make my own logos and stickers for my new online business. It's just a little Etsy page it's so fun. So I completely feel your passion! Oh and I can draw like you don't even know. I have been an artist for many years and this puts my pen and paper into actual the computer. It's a lot of fun!
