    I'd be willing to give a hard once per turn format a try. Sounds interesting.

      We are in need of a format that limits the summons you can perform, it will kill any toxic meta, 1 regular normal summon, 5 extra normal summons, 5 special summons, this will help giving the game more space of playing for both sides

      limiting the traps and spells to 5 activations per turn, and no I don't like that format, I prefer HAT format from 2014, that format needs you to pick up from a variety of decks, and you can still manage to win against the meta, it needs luck and skills like how yugioh used to look like

    My rule change would be to errata every "when" to an "if". No idea what it'd do to the meta, I'm sure some 20 year old card would suddenly become an FTK enabler, but the banlist can fix that and on the plus side, you'll never miss the timing ever again. Nor will you have to explain missing the timing to a newbie at your locals.

      this.
      eliminating 'missing the timing' would fix so many archetypes

  • @swelos
    @swelos Год назад +11

    Mayakashis would literally become unplayable if so, but I think it is a change that may be needed as an errata, not only for forbidden cards but for cards present in the formats. Although I see this change as something unlikely, it would be interesting to try a format with more cards with this regulation.

    imo adamancipator would change a little since Block Dragon's summon effect isn't a HOPT so that is the only thing that would change, also the Koa'ki Meiru Guardian would be a HOPT as well. If we take all sides of the game into question.

    I play Infernity, so I'm extremly allergic to that kind of idea.
    Also, in term of meta decks affected by everything becoming hopt, Branded would get affected by it because Mirrorjade is a soft-once per turn, it's just that you're locked to being able to use it only once every 2 turns with any individual copies.
    And while it wouldn't have mattered that much pre-POTE since only really good hands retained Mirrorjade's banish for the opponent's turn, it would matter more in post-PHHY since opening a way to summon both Cartesia and Aluber gives you the ability to end on a fresh Mirrorjade, BiR set on the field, and Ad Lib in grave pretty easily (and also Bystial Lubellion, Branded Beast, and Granguinol all on the field).

    I'll say the same thing I always do about this sort of thing:
    Board wipes should always have been a hard once per turn(many aren't), spot removal is not impactful enough to work as a hard once per turn(yet has a notable amount of cards that are) and Ash needs to be banned if draw power is already going to be limited anyway.

    While there is a certain aspect of metagame health that would exist for making everything a HOPT, it would also kill certain decks simply because of how they were designed.
    Sky Striker, Dark World, Purrely, Dracoslayer, and then some cards like Accesscode would become unplayable generically.

  • @pettankousei3126

    Sky Striker represents the old Yugioh. Engage is the Pot of Greed, Widow Anchor is Change of Heart, Afterburners and Jamming Waves are Smashing ground and MST, which doesnt negate at a cost of 3 spells in GY. Its Waifu to so its Win-Win to everyone

    To add to your list: Chaos Dragons/Dragon Link.
    In terms of functionality, all that it would change is that opening 2+ Quick Launch would be considered bricking.

    This would honestly fix a lot of problems with the current game. The only remaining issues would be to ban some problem cards, which are pretty much almost all floodgates, but then again these cards should've been banned ages ago.

    There's some cards that should be a once per turn (ex. Like, the majority of cards in the game)
    but there's also cards that shouldn't be once per turn, like sky striker cards
    since their effect already have a pretty strict restriction, and all of their monsters have effect that revolves around their spell cards and basically do nothing else significant (beside zeke)
    If they're once per turn, you might as well just play runick, since they're basically just sky striker but better, and with practically no restriction

  • @emporer15
    @emporer15 Год назад

    Idk if it would make for better or worse gameplay...But it *would* save a physical line of text on the card and let them tick up the font 1 size...Also Cyberdragons would become nearly unplayable unless the rule is "cards sharing original names" and not "cards treated as having the same name"

  • @renaldyhaen

    1. Sky Striker literally just plays with a single small ATK/DEF monster, and some setup in GY to optimize their strategy. Why do they need another restriction to play?
    2. Most Invoked cards are soft OPT btw. But that is not what makes IDS good, but Winda jumpscare!
    3. Empen is soft OPT, but to optimize its soft-OPT. You really need good pilot, that's why we rarely see this.
    4. Most decks with non-OPT gimmick usually have a big price but people who never play it will never understand, or they just still bad even without OPT restriction like insects. Sky striker play with their small tower. Or Infernity must play with 0 card in hand, its mean, they cannot use non-engine monsters to optimize their strategy.

    while my 2 pet decks of Live*Twins and Lyrilusc (aside from only one search off of Recital Starling and only one bounce from Ensemblue but otherwise is mostly un changed) would change much from this I can imagine how hard this murders other cards/decks the one that immediately comes to my mind are Frogs and Mayakashi both ride on their main playmakers not being once per turn to build their boards so them now being hard OPT would obliterate them

    While I think every card should have an once per turn effect I know doing this would heavily affect some decks or cards. For example in agents activating Venus múltiple times is an important part of the combo. With an once per turn restriction the combo potential is basically gone

    Then most of my Archfiend cards get even worse. Don't want Emperor, Empress, and Masterking to be HOPT. Not to mention the Chess Archfiend variant would be even beyond the garbage they are and Masterking's ability for recursion would be crippled.

    my question is: if it says once per turn does that mean i can use the effect every next turn so like the effect is i can banish one monster from opponents field, can i banish it again when its my turn again. Or is it the effect once per duel. I dont get it

    • @josejohn9478
      @josejohn9478 8 месяцев назад

      He's saying hard once per turn. If you have two of the same card in hand or on field you can only activate one copy of that card that turn. You can use it again next turn or use an effect you can activate on your opponents turn, but only once that turn. So you can't monster reborn twice if you have two in hand or activate a monster effect more than once a turn. I think it's interesting because it solves issues with looping cards and makes it more of a risk to play multiple copies of a card. If you draw 2 of the same card then you basically are starting the duel with 4 cards instead of 5. I would be interested to see how it would effect the game. If your opponent drew 2 of the same hand trap he could only play one and would need to be very careful when he used it instead of stopping your plays twice in a turn. Now a once per duel format would be interesting. You basically would be forced to play 40 unique cards in your deck. If you didn't then every extra copy would be a dead card unless you are just using it as body on the board. You would have to decide if you wanted extra copies in your deck to hope you see it in your opening hand while risking the bricks, or decide if you don't want any bricks in deck and play a single copy.
