You can buy toploaders, but they work like the frontloaders, they have a snap on and an integrated heating element. The inside drum rotate full circle, similar to front loaders. American toploaders work different, have no heating element ( Front loaders don t have heating too).
In Europe most of the cleaning come from rotation. Mechanical cleaning (like the historic washboard). In the US most of the cleaning come from the detergent. The circle is way shorter, so the detergent contain more bleach or other chemicals.

    *Shower heads:*
    1) In Germany You not only have the shower heads in a flexible tube, but You also got a holder on the wall, where You can hang it and use it just like a fixed shower head.
    2) Since I'm used to take shower in a sitting position, a shower head fixed to the wall above would really put me off.
    3) Whenever I want to clean a bigger item in the bath tube, a flexible shower had really comes in *handy* ;-)

Woah, there are reusable solo cups? A/C is also for taking humidity out of the air. When my family and I first moved back to Florida it was during fall. We went 3 months with our windows open 24/7. Then we had mildew growing on clothes, belts, bedding, walls, etc. This is when I put together it's because of the humidity. You would think the person who was born and raised in Florida would know this 😅. Now we have a dehumidifier running when we have the windows open.

My house in Hungary was open plan as the previous owner had removed a few internal walls. My current place in Croatia has a traditional layout with hallway leading to kitchen, livingroom, bedrooms etc. That is easier to heat. Generally in Europe when washing machines went from manual to automatic operation (1950s / 60s) they also changed from topload to frontload. There are a few narrow toploaders but they still have a horizontal drum like the frontload machines.

😅. It's called an exhaust fan. It's over the stove and everything that you cook gets sucked outside when you cook (this is for open concept kitchens. You also have to turn on the fan). The German apartments that I was in either didn't have an exhaust fan, or it wasn't properly installed (in my opinion). The stuff you were cooking was sucked away, but it just spat the smells and heat back into the apartment.

Our first washing machine (1960) was a top loader. But that was only the access to the horizontally rotating drum. It also has a spin dryer next to it in the same housing. Then we only had the front loaders. When I had my first appartment I "inherited" (bought it actually from the previous renters) a small top loader. Again with the drum rotating on a horizontal axis. I don't think those US-style top-loaders are available in Germany anyway. The lame agitation which necessitates more aggressive detergent simply prevents it. I have never seen such detergent being sold here. See where the red tide is coming from!
What I always liked about the top loaders was that you could throw in (or remove) additional items at any time in the cycle. That is only possible when the water level is very low inside a top loading washing machine. Or when you turn it off and have waited for some time.

As I architect, I think that the layouts of US homes are much better than German homes. En-suite bathrooms, built in closets, central AC and such amenities are something I would not want to miss anymore. Of course, you need more space to accomodate all these features.
I am completely remodeling the house I grew up in right now and I mixed both worlds: Radiant heating but also central AC, built in closets, open kitchen with side by side fridge and garbage disposal, separate laundry room etc.
Everyone is blown away when they see all these features that are so common in the US. Especially central AC since it is very rare here. Open kitchens are actually getting pretty common on new construction for some years now.
Oh and btw. I have and never had a microwave. This is the one US invention I really don´t have any desire to use.
The vents above the door are a thing of the past actually. It originates from the time where there was no central heating but a single source of heat like fireplace. Opening the vents let the warm air in (somewhat at least) without the need to keep the door open.

Let's face it. Shower heads...fixed on the wall. Only some one who doesn't know how to clean the shower... invented those. Cleaning means also - cleaning the opposite site of the shower head and to rinse it down (cleaner etc.) ... you take the shower head with the flexible tube and rinse it down. Again..the shower head fixtures - without the possibility to hand shower, flexible tube - are highly unpractical and annoying.

Never seen such a plastic Coca Cola "glass". Maybe because I don't like the sweet stuff.

The Coca Cola glasses you get at Mc Donalds are not plastic, they are real glass. The newest ones from 2023 are opaque, while older ones are more transparent and shiny.

thankfully Germany has almost no microwave popcorn, because the added fats to the maize are horrible refined and hardened oils full of trans fats killing your arteries right away.
