I chose the S1 over a mark 7 Fiesta ST and absolutely love it. It’s certainly not cheap to buy or run but it is lovely to drive, very refined (perhaps a little too much?) and is also very rare. Even 9 months into ownership it surprises me how quick it is. Glad you got to drive one mate.

Hi Calvin, I am in Australia and was going to go for a S1 two years ago but ended up going for a 2016, 2door Scirocco R instead felt like it was all round better value for money, very similar to the golf R obviously not 4WD but for the price difference well worth it. Hopefully you get one in stock soon to compare...

Slap a TT V4 from Will at VRS on it for 500HP. Then it's an RS1
Got one myself and I get around 30mpg easy. Insurance wasn’t that bad either £850 with 2 years no claims. Quite surprising stock but still seems held back, a stage 1 sorts this out tho and makes it so much better to drive having S3 power with less weight 👍🏻
Bet the R Line Golf is nice. Fairly pokey too for just 150odd bhp.

Had an audi a1 sline company car so after changing jobs did fancy an s1. Prices when I was looking wasn't much less than what I paid for my golf r, the r was cheaper to insure aswell 🤔

I went to buy an S1 last November as like you stated the car has so much character and is just amazing all round.
The price completely through me off I couldn’t find one for a reasonable price, so ended up going for an S3 8P for 8,500 which is significantly cheaper then an S1 and don’t feel like I made a bad decision.

More space
Around 30mpg
And still offers pretty much everything the S1 did.

I completely get that you don’t want to seem like your trying to sell us vehicles etc. But in my opinion I think you should do a walk around the car, tell us the mileage, tell us the service history, tell us how much it is, the issues with it..End of the day your a car trader and it would be be nice to have a opportunity to buy the cars as a subscriber..
Don’t even think about the other cars. You won’t be disappointed if you get the Giulia QV. Trust me... I just had mine delivered and it’s insane! It’s so rare on the roads and sounds sweet as! I’m pretty sure a lot of people will agree?

I have an S1 and you summed it up when you mentioned how enjoyable it is to drive. My other vehicle is over four times as expensive, but I much prefer driving the S1. The handling is incredible and on winding British country roads there is truthfully nothing I’d rather drive, especially in changeable weather - even though I often can’t drive it in Dynamic as the roads are too uneven. In Dynamic it’s a dream, tighter steering, better throttle response and sound. I bought mine for over £20k, but I’ve never regretted it. Incidentally, I doubt that’s chipped, mine’s as it came from factory and makes those 0-60 times, surprising passengers and other drivers alike. As I said, more enjoyable than many a more expensive vehicle and would give many a vehicle with far higher BHP a run for their money on B roads, it really holds a corner.

Being a delivery driver, I have to put up with people driving slow everyday.. when you see the arrival time going up and up and up it pisses you off big time, but it’s funny watching it now 🤣
I almost bought one recently, i was getting insurance quotes full comp of £1250. For a 20 year old with 2 years no claims, it's surprisingly cheap!

Saw one of these at the Maserati dealership up the road from me.. I immeadiatly really liked the looks of it ,although it was the model with the full decal package, this, personally I would avoid . Very cool little car .Very recently I spotted a (what looked like) a 35 tfsi ? and also a 30 tdi .. what is lurking under their bonnets ? Anyway thanks again and all the best mate.. lol , oh yeah .. lol . nb. similar to BMW , biggish engines in small chassis init.. Oh I. really like the V5 , W8 and the other diffrent engines VW, Audi put through , nearly had a Passat W8.. that's me 'almost' thanks man.. WRC body kit ? Oh yeah ...
fancy a VW limited type19 , most went to Wolfsburg staff and were 4 door . Equipped with Oettinger 2.0 16v g-lader .mmmm .. mmmmm ,think mainly brown and 4 door. Oh and all were also syncro equipped.. Well made it there in the end.. lol 😐😄

I was looking at buying an s1 early this year but I ended up getting st180 because of the price difference!
As a 17 year old ( nearly 18 ) one of these for insurance without a black box is roughly 8 grand and with a black box roughly 2.5 grand to 3 grand

Was looking at s1’s but at the time they were roughly £22k so I opted for an m140i instead just seemed more car for the money aswell as performance 🤙🏽

£13 grand ain’t much I’m lookin Toyota GT 86’s for that. Yes you can get cheaper cool cars but newer cars are more expensive, mostly due to tech related stuff in suspension and interior, sport modes etc I believe.
Mine has a tdi tuning box, it transformed the way the power comes in. I average 31mpg normally, 39/41mpg on a run and average 22mpg when pushing hard.
Would it suit someone who has to do a 50 miles daily commute on motorway ?
Stance_ MXFIA yup, driven gently the car does 41mpg. Even driven hard it returns a tank average of 24/29mpg. Also the tdi box is controlled via Bluetooth so you can turn it off and on or adjust the power at will
Never seen more than 35 out of mine and that's with a lot of coasting and based on a 500 mile round trip got 37 on motorway after 200 miles

They are not standard wheels for the S1, they've been swapped from an A1 or something.
It's a squashed A3. The boot is tiny

Like a Type R, what?!?! That’s a naturally aspirated VTEC engine, extreme high revving over 5,000 rpm to get any power, the S1 is a turbo!!
I'll stick to my reliant robin 750 engine 80 miles to the gallon and a 5 year old can fix the engine.

S1 or S3?
S1 is a great car. I have 18 plate for last 4 months, 18 plate S3 before it. I love it and prefer to my S3. It’s small, quick, loads of traction and the reason you initially thought it was tuned is that they deliver 273lb ft of torque from 1600 rpm which is pretty much same as golf r and S3.

Swagoi if they are the same then the S1 is different to both of them... I used to have an S1 and the upper limit was 450 ish for the CWZA engine code of the EA888, I know a guy who fully rebuilt for 505bhp... of course I could still be wrong but I don’t know anyone running 600 on an S1, there are also other issues like driveshafts clutches etc that prevent this though
Chris Tims Yeah depends on the engine code but all 3 are EA888. I know a fair few people pushing 500+ whp stage 3 with a twin disk clutch

EDIT: A fun fact. The engine in the S1 is just the same engine as the 300 HP engine the Audi S3 uses. The version in the S1 is just downtuned from 300 HP to 231 HP to not compete with the S3. So in short, the Audi S1 is just an Audi S3 in a little smaller package :-D
But correct me on that if it's not accurate.
S3 uses as different engine actually, same engine code but different internals and turbo!
@@ScottPC Same EA888.3 just better for bigger power due to internals. IS30 turbo is bigger but slightly more laggy compared to the S1's IS20
