If you haven't noticed Saweetie getting a pass based solely on her personality and looks. The industry is focusing on relatability and personality rather than the quality of the music.
People can't separate the person from the art. He's a likable, cool ass guy. His music is empty and bland and has no personality. Decent technical flow and nothing else.
@@unknwngamer1 Jack has actual rap skills, this is coming from someone who thinks both of his albums are 5/10s at best. Thing is jack doesn't have album skills, so far he can't make an interesting album for the life of him. That's just me.
Y’all need to realize that while nothing is awful, all the elements, from writing to lyricism to production, are devoid of ideas. There’s nothing distinct here. That’s what an album needs.
I would rather have an album that is awful if the artist is still pushing some kind of limits. Harlow just pushed the “generic asf” button with this album
the most annoying thing about harlow is that he spends ALLL his interviews talking about 'how we gotta bring lyrical rap back/how he's upping his pen game' - then he drops the most sterile plug-n-play album ever - he legit sounds JUST like every half-assed college rapper i went to school with...
He literally used the same themes for every single song in the album. " I'll do anything to see you smile" my one stand out hit. Everything else is derivative. What a shame
As a Jack listener from 2019 before the whole What’s Poppin thing, it’s clear to see he’s already sold his style to the mainstream. While that may not be a bad thing, it can make the music boring and unoriginal as hell. He used to flow like butter on some songs and utilize his voice really well, but now it’s just half-assed verses and average beats with A-list celebrity features not doing anything.
@@brnsde539 truly sad what happened to Migos. Had the world at their feet, but chose to make mediocre half-asses songs and over-saturate their albums with filler.
Jack Harlow is a better celebrity than he is a musician and that's all that really needs to be said. He's seen Drake's blueprint and is running with it. He knows he can get by making mediocre music, because his personality and public persona is what's going to carry him.
people overreacting in both extremes when it comes to Jack Harlow so much right now. He's neither the next coming of Drake, nor is he the worst rapper of all time or had the worst album in years. People get caught in the hype in both ways, the reality is that he is mid , nothing more nothing less. But still i can enjoy his music
considering i dont care for drake much or empty platidude driven "RAP". That people actually buy into...bc were talking "PEOPLE" that wouldnt have listened to rap in the 80s/90s mind you...yet HERE WE ARE. SAME ppl still not bumping 80s/90s rap....yet are "hip-hop" fans...and huge lovers of the made for consumption EMPTY PLATITUDE driven hip-hop. Drake has ppl writing his songs; and some of the worlds best producers on the majority of his tracks. SO even if the lyrics lack actual substance the beat matches perfectly with the fuccboi vibes. Just think about how many date-rapes and bastards were brought upon thanks to drake...and now jack can carry that torch. U think ppl that like jack harlow bump, blade, or suicide boys XD....yet theyre all the same white kids/crowds/AF1 wearing cookie cutter humans...their parents used to crowd around and turn up to madonna/hair metal...nothing new here. Same shit kids that dont know who their daddy is...and MOMS that dont know either XD.
Jack Harlow getting compared to Mac Miller is a whole SIN. Macʼs a straight up LEGEND status. I donʼt see Jack Harlow making music as equal as Swimming, Faces, Circles, WMWTSO ever.
I must say the community was very disrespectful comparing this man to Drake. Drake second album was Take Care and this is what he dropped. Jack may not even be lucky enough to drop an album that's better than Thank Me Later
@@joellgdi2057 I went through Thank me Later today, I’m listening like Jack does not have the ability to make fireworks and the resistance or even the versatility of a shut it down
Thing I give Jack credit for, he knows his audience. That is…ppl who don’t listen to rap like that. He is what G-Eazy always wanted to be. But in the long run, especially with his personality, he don’t even have to give much effort. Idk how much longer he’ll be relevant due to the fact.
G Eazy gave me a “cool guy at the club but I wouldn’t wanna be around him after that” vibe. I feel like that’s why he fell off eventually. Jack is like a dope guy you’d actually want to hang out with. Music wise however, he NEEDS to create some sort of substance in his work. We get it, you fuckin all day everyday. So is every other rapper.
G-eazy was suppose to be that 50 style rapper that bring back greaser theme back this in the rap game. He have both somewhat meh and some good songs and I'm a G-Eazy fan.
Why the focus on Jack tho??😂 His flow/voice on beats is smooth as butter. lyrics are laidback, nothing to intricate but still has solid lines. There is SO much trash out there and you mfs shine a extra spotlight on Jack for some reason😂 and he's fuckin decent he's not even bad lol
I agree. G Eazy went super pop and it didn’t work out for him. He lost everything that made him unique and just became another generic white rapper. Meanwhile Jack’s music may be heading more towards generic, his personality is still the same and that’s what people gravitate towards. Not to mention apparently G can’t stay faithful in a relationship to save his life. There’s a thin line between lady’s man and sleezeball…
@@W4TSKY I just hope he goes back in that greaser style again, he can pop back if he does goes back that what made him unique and his latest album is not that bad is just Sony like always failed to promote him. The instructions with YG, Hate the way why always I miss you with Blackbear, Provided with Chris Breezy, and Faithful with Marc E Bassy are actually good singles. I think should move to Dre's Aftermath label, TDE, Kendrick PJLang agency to give him the freedom he deserve I can't stand when white boys tries to be another Drake, trapstar, or popstar just be you because your rap art and flow is telling your story and describing what type of person you are.
i think a lot of his acceptance in the hip hop world comes from the fact that he came up the old fashion way. doing free shows locally week after week, finding an audience locally first ( a lot of people my age / friends went to his shows back then), then finding gigs at real venues like music festivals, and eventually getting his radio hit. it's not as common to come up like that these days, and i think thats respected among peers as evident by the features he's getting and general reception. I'm not huge on his music either, and im from the same city, but I won't deny that the dude has been through the trenches so to speak.
I AM SO TIRED OF WATCHING WHITE PPL IMITATE US. YALL HATE US AND KILL US BUT WANT TO BE US THEN STEAL OUR CULTURE AND RESELL IT BACK TO US AND THE WORLD AS IF YOU CREATED IT - DISGUSTING.
I think it's because of the marketing and fake propaganda they put in behind him. All that hype does not show or translate on social media. It's paid for. Plant
He doesn’t sound anything like he did since 2018-2019. I know that’s not far off. However he’s dropped multiple projects since then and they’re all MID. Now he’s mimicking Drake at every turn and using his sex appeal more than making actual great music. His bars are average and he was carried by the beat for most of the songs. At this point Jack Harlow is more of a character entertaining women than a rapper.
When I saw that Jack had 52 MILLION Monthly Listeners on Spotify landing him at the 15TH most streamed artist on the platform while Drake only had 53 million, I immediately sensed a problem…
@amr3 Even before Industry Baby he had way over 35 mil Spotify monthly listeners 😭 that's more than Youngboy, Gunna, Durk, Kodak, Uzi, Lil Baby and Future ffs
@@martinelli7662 before industry baby what’s poppin was still doing crazy numbers and was a massive hit. Majority of those monthly listeners are literally only listening to what’s poppin, industry baby or first class and haven’t listened to anything else in his discog. Y’all act like monthly listeners = fans, he’s only got 6M Insta followers and when those hits die down his monthly listeners are definitely gonna drop down to the 10-15 million mark y’all are insane if you don’t think so.
Jack Harlow has more monthly listeners then Beyoncé, Adele, Mariah Carey, Snoop, Pharrell, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, it goes to show you that a steaming platform matter at a certain point doesn’t matter
Y'all also are leaving out that Spotify has mixed playlists.... What's Poppin and as well Industry Baby is all throughout Spotify's suggested playlist.
He struck out big time. This album had the potential to take him to superstar level given all the hype and momentum he’s had up until this point. It’s going to be hard to re capture that in the future
Big Sean dropped a trash album when he was poppin in 2013 and the backlash made Him step up his skills for dark sky paradise and the future. And by then he was older than Jack Is now. Now if Jack CARES enough he could very well do that and it would be cool
@@romaretaylor9953 big sean and jack harlow don't have the same rap pedigree. not everyone who stumbles can stand back up. the industry will probably give him another shot, but i haven't seen anything from him that shows promise of coming back harder and stronger. maybe if they put a lot of money into the producers and features because i think jack harlow has peaked as an artist
@Romare Taylor that album was trash but Beware was a hit and a year later he dropped Don’t F with you; and Harlow doesn’t have a in house producer like Kanye who is going to give give him songs like All Your Fault and F with You
My theory on Jack's success is that everyone who likes him knows deep down that he's very mediocre.. but.. he carries himself like he's really good. Confidence and being white is like a Jedi mind trick to be seen as unique and talented.
I’d say I’m a Jack Harlow fan and yeah I can admit his music isn’t really saying much but I thought we were past the point in hip hop where music HAS to be lyrical or super creative to be valid. Like there are so many artists that go on making the same thing without issue, which is fine, the music is just fun to listen to. His flow isn’t anything crazy, or new, but it fits him. It’s smooth, it’s cool and his lyrics are fun, sometimes corny, but it’s never anything that ruins the song
You don't have to be lyrical to be creative. Rappers like thugger, asap rocky, or killer Mike are necessarily lyrical but thug is eccentric and charismatic, rocky is smooth and bragadocious, and more is brusque and in your face. This Harlow album is inoffensive and milquetoast. Which are some of the worst qualities to have as an authentic musician vs a product.
This trend of the mainstream music scene being mid for the better part of the last 3 years is concerning. A lot of artists are putting out below average bodies of work. And tbh, it's only going to get a lot worse. We're in the age of instant gratification. Artists would rather die than not be relevant or seen and the industry machine is too strong. The art form is slowly dying before our very eyes. Obviously there's many factors at play but this is over satiation at this porn. Everything is easily accessible and it's making the output dull. Everything is fast food now.
Maybe mainstream music, but so far 2022 is one of the BEST years of music I’ve heard. But I listen to a lot of different genres, but rap has had a great 2022 so far. Jack is just mid
This is why if I was an artist I don’t think I could sign to a label, jacks early music showed exactly the characteristics you brought up but as soon as Drama got a hold of him his music went downhill.
@@Losabias111 a lot of times artist actually lose out on potentially earnings when signing to a label, especially a major label. More likely than not the artist doesn’t own their music. Also, 360 deals are becoming more common. In a 360 the label gets a cut of EVERYTHING you do.
@@Blackmagic_874 definetly not trolling. there is alot that goes into being a white rapper, and Jack Harlow is a pretty bad example of how to do it. Especially now on his new album when he has sold out like this.
i didn’t even know he dropped. i have him bIocked on spotify cuz i wont listen to mid. i can’t stand eminem but if i had to choose then eminem over Lack Larlow
Artists like Jack Harlowe and Billie Eilish are being paraded around by the music industry at every turn and it certainly baffles me. They’re choosing artists on the pure basis of relatability to the younger audiences regardless of whether their music is of actual prolific quality or not. The music is ultimately inconsequential within the context they’re trying to create.
@@Designed1 He has charmed a lot of people, even if that doesn’t include yourself. The hate train only picked up steam from this album dropping and being atrocious.
Bruh what 💀. Jack isn't even on billie's level. I know rap fans and males like to hate on her for no reason but she's actually really talented. I don't know any young people that can "relate" to Jack, he doesn't make relatable music tbh, just typical mediocre college party rap music.
@@tnago916 Billie has a lot of her music produced and written for her. She’s a modern day industry plant and that’s blatantly obvious, along with the fact her best and most prolific work was made largely by Finneas. Just flat-out overrated. Also pretty sure the reason you relate to Billie and not Harlow at all is because you’re obviously a girl yourself. Doesn’t change the fact that a lot of younger dudes have already tried emulating Harlow the same way younger girls have with Eilish.
I really like his chill songs with nostalgic lo-fi type beats like Walk in the park, heavy hitter, and big chillin. I'd love to hear more tracks like that I wasn't a fan of the direction this album went
Yea Shawn is acting like his old songs were the same. The production was FAR better and he could use a few different flows. After That’s What they all Say his discography became trash to mid.
You should listen to OUT FRONT and Creme (Creme is a little less of the lofi beat thing but it's still pretty chill but fire) then because they're pretty chill songs and are some of my favorite Jack Harlow songs with OUT FRONT being my favorite Jack Harlow song ever
I saw Shawn's live reaction to Jack's album on twitch, my man actually broke out in tears cause of how fucking boring, and at times outright ass, the album was
Finally, SOMEONE HAS SAID IT. Jack Harlow is MEDIOCRE and people saying he's the 2nd best White rapper under Eminem is blasphemy (Mac Miller is). The industry keeps trying to force him down our throats and trying to make him the next Drake or IN thing it's annoying. His album was mediocre at best but had some skips it wasn't worth all the hype at all. And before people say I am a hater head on down to Genius and look at some of the lyrics and bars for his songs its cheesy and corny and he gets away with it
white rapper tier list is Aesop rock, El-p Mac miller, action bronson, Em and Jack Em and jack are very VERY overrated because of their earlier projects
the album was bad - but he is definitely not a bad artist... dude's mixtapes are smooth as hell. he's just stretching the bag at this point & shifting his music towards his mainstream fans.
The industry wants him to be one of the leading artists of the next generation, but he doesn’t have the artistic vision to match up. Drake, for example, had far more vision on his first couple albums. Kanye, for example . . . well, that comparison doesn’t even need explaining.
I usually agree with your takes on most things related to music, but calling Jack Harlow one of the worst rappers off all time is a terrible take imo. I don’t think the album was amazing but it was far from the most terrible album i’ve heard.
Calling him Trash and worst album of the year is a bit over the top definitely not the best album he could’ve done he played it way too safe but it’s your opinion at the end of the day
I mean to be fair, he hyped this album claiming it was going to revolutionary and game changing. So, but if we are to compare it to pimp a butterfly even on technically level it trash or atleast very lackluster.
@@jeremiahborders2959 no I agree he capped heavy but Jack is a troll so am I shocked that it wasn’t, no but to say he’s trash is a bit of a reach idk man
I have to agree with you. I didn’t have crazy expectations for this album and I think a lot of people like Shawn were already prepared to hate this album. This album is just alright imo. Has a handful of tracks I’ll go back to
@@culverp1138 exactly like ppl coming into the album saying he’s gonna be better than Eminem when he ain’t even gonna be on Mac Miller level he gonna sell 200 plus all this hype and he dropped a mid album it is what it is he’s sold out to make song for these Instagram and TikTok girls
This was so spot on, Jack harlow is my guy but his artistry hasn't got better or worse he just that guy that makes ok music & appeals to the people that just wanna heard hear some other type of music for a change I've said this about him before. He ain't a album guy he is a singles/ep type of guy.
Tbh - I can see him Sustaining this level of hype and riding it out for a long career - he’s just surface level and mid enough for people to enjoy his music - gain amnesia - and forget by the next time he drops a passable project. So they stuck in a never ending cycle of overhyping his basic music.
He’s seen the “mainstream arrived and on top blueprint/version” of Drake and basically rearranged and repackaged it for his first album for his own convenience- seemingly ignoring and devaluing the stages of the climb so there is no rich foundation for folk to connect too, like mixtape grind, meaningful co-signing features, much earned achievement- celebration stage and so on. W/o this trajectory, arriving where JH is, you end up with something that’s ultimately hollow and fast fading. And what’s crazy is Drakes SFG mixtape is probably is strongest most compelling project to date. Go figure..
I saw another woman on tiktok basically saying he's a savior for bw and I don't understand why. I guess bc he hasn't made colorist remarks or degraded bw specifically but like you said, he makes fuckboy music so it doesn't make him much diff from other rappers lol. I think maybe girls like him bc of his personality outside of music? I only liked one song by him and it was "Thru the night", using an amazing 90s sample & features Bryson Tiller.
hip hop being a white genre was low k eye opening to me, bc you’re right. i’ve gone to tons of rap concerts and festivals, and the crowd is almost always 70% white. it’s created and pioneered by black people, but white people dominate the listening aspect of it. anyone who says “you hate em cuz they’re white” couldn’t be farther from the truth as the audience is predominantly white. shawn really be changing my whole perspective damn.
I'm sure that's has nothing to do with the fact that 60% of the USA population are white and only 12% black... and It's the same in almost every country from America and Europe.
I think that primarily has to do with the demographics in America. Around 60% of it is white. Which if you consider that, it seems as though the white demographic has nearly equal representation. The other 30% I imagine is largely made up of Latinos and African Americans given that other demographics have single digit populations at best. When I think about it like that it seems like it mirrors the demographics of the country almost to a T, so I wouldn't refer to it so much as a white genre, more so an American genre.
6 out of 15 tracks were somewhat good to me. And thats the best way to put it. It was boring and not worth a second listen. The songs sounded the same, no continuity between tracks, boring hooks, the beats were mediocre, etc. He’s a more successful G-Eazy with some watered down Drake mixed in
*Shawn went from* “he’s good but calm down on the hype” to “He’s a terrible rapper” and I’m not knocking him… he’s being carried by his personality and everything but his music.. take Doja Cat for example - has a goofy likeable personality but has music that is genuinely good.
Marius Dam Christophersen - I hear that and can certainly see that viewpoint.. but to me - her music is just something you can just put on and not think too deeply about.. and it does feel like any artist with a “Goofy” personality automatically gets a “Stan Twitter” type of following nowadays - which is what I don’t like.
good example tbh and ironically enough that’s why they both have that wave right now.. it’s not that deep and other reasons jacks music is just not as good as doja but obviously not the worst either
Doja Cat is the exact same situation as Jack. Her early music was good but now it’s all just the same bland mid over and over and tbh her personality/look isn’t all that likable anymore either
Finally somebody saying it. I disagree with Shawn on a lot of stuff but this I definitely co-sign. Raps average at best. Not terrible but way too hyped imo.
he is relying too much on his physical appeal then actually his art or talent, it’s honestly sad seeing the path he’s taking but you can’t blame him in this type of industry, that is the last option he truly has.
His album confetti is his best shit ever, he blew up to such a huge level that his music changed in ways that are way more mainstream and generic sounding. He is genuinely a good artist and lyricist but are overshadowed by the generic drake type beats, overuse of samples, and influence from bigger artists. I do think he can make great music and the album wasn’t bad. The cool new thing is to hate Jack because he is essentially making music to his majority female fanbase, which is dumb asf cause then they don’t even listen before they say the shit is ‘mid’ or otherwise. Confetti was such an outlier to me, sure it wasn’t completely different from other things he put out, but it was him molding out to be an actual artist in this industry and he played around with really cool sounds which felt really personal to him. Now it just feels like talking what everybody else is talking about (like drake).
he really isnt that good lol. the reason people hate jack harlow is because he is very clearly being mass marketed by the music industry and its very obvious and annoying lol.
Dang that‘s exactly what I thought. Confetti was such a dope album. Been still only listening to this day in my whip. Jack Harlow just went absolutely downhill musically after whats poppin.
He’s a slightly cooler/more likeable G-Eazy, won’t be surprised if his career eventually fizzles out the same way. Being relatable, or at least understandable is what ultimately gives a person longevity. If the person you constantly portray is someone who’s always just too cool for school, eventually your songs start to sound the same and you lose touch with fans that eventually want to get to the know the real person behind the persona. Every rapper who’s made it has at some point has been vulnerable and talked about times in their life that were not so glamorous.
saying that this album is worse than the big day is not valid bc that album has to be the worst thing i’ve ever listened to and jacks album is far from that (even tho i still think it’s mid)
He thought he was on to something by comparing those two albums the big day is literally the worst album that came out in 2019 that album needs to be deleted from existence.
I think what y’all fail to realize is Mr. Harlow advertised himself a certain way…wanting to the best of his generation, even not wanting to be considered a sex symbol to be taken more seriously in his music, and also all these people co-signing him for something that’s supposed to, I guess be a stand out from the other rappers coming out right now. This album wasn’t bad and me personally I liked some songs, flows and definitely the production but it’s not enough to compare to the lead up of who he and everyone else is trying to convince us he is. In order to be great, act like it simple. Don’t talk it, be it. To me he has yet to prove Kanye claiming he’s at the top right now, and I don’t see how people r getting lost on other shit lmao
@@AnmlPeeweeIsHere …..🌚 maybe you just being snooty, but even if the flows are wack every rapper has a flow. Out of all of the flows on the album a good 5% them were decent enough for me to like. Good day
The issue with Jack is that once you've heard one song from him, you've heard em all. When what's popping blew up it was the first time the mainstream had heard Jack. His flow, bars, and voice all seemed somewhat unique and he had some catchy bars; not to mention the fact that women think he's attractive. The second you start listening to more of his music you realize that the flow, bars, and voice are the exact same on every other song he's ever dropped. It's just more noticeable now that hes in the mainstream.

I thought Jack was a mid rapper, and I was lowkey excited to hear his track when I saw it number 1 on billboard, I told myself that I knew it wasn't the one I heard on tiktok bc that was so mid it couldnt possibly be number 1. And sure enough, I listen and it is indeed the song I heard from tiktok. And I don't give Jack props on that number 1 either because he uses a song, Glamorous by Fergie, which was ALREADY a number 1 hit! I checked. If Fergie's original track peaked at number 3 on billboard I'm sure Jack's track would have done the same.
100% agree. I only finished the album because I had a hope that it got better and it did a little bit, the song with drake was pretty decent, but one decent song doesn’t make up for an album of just… nothing. This album lacks ANY ideas.
Jackman makes music for the moment.... the moment that you listen to it. It's rare to hear a song from him that you want to play more than once after it's released. It's better weeks after as the new smell is gone. And this is coming from a fan of Jack. He seems like he'd be better off sticking to mixtapes than full albums at the moment.
As someone who likes this new Jack Harlow album, I do understand the critiques and I do feel that this album isn't creative at all. I feel for Jack to continue making successful music, he needs to improve creatively. Jack has proven that he can make creative and straight up great music, so from where he goes from here is what will define his career moving forward.
Bruh how is poison wit Wayne not unique just one of a few very unique songs lol y’all blind the flow the word play the beat switch up the words itself not said before y’all hallucinating
I don't see the Jack Harlow appeal for his music and everything yet, BUT That whole rant coming from a dude, who literaly worships Future, complaining about 'womanizing' things and lyrics like that, the most toxic artist of all I would say, youire not making any valid points sir. You're just bias, and thats okay. We all have an artist that we don't fancy of, and sometimes its unexplainable, and maybe Jack Harlow is that one for you.
Facts it’s very clear that Shawn just doesn’t like Jack and he’s trying to find every possible reason to justify said dislike (tbf he kind of has too being a professional music critic) however a lot of his arguments are blown outta proportion or stretches, I honestly think it would be more respectable if he just said “I don’t like Jack Harlow, it doesn’t appeal to me” and leaving it at that instead of doing some Olympic level gymnastics.
Shawn Cee worships future?! Okay I can tell you’re new here + your one public comment. Shawn Keeps the same energy and some of y’all don’t like it when your fav gets the Ax

Its the amazing part about projecting yourself as an "ARTIST" you wind up in a prison of your own existence for all to see.
It was a good, vibey album. The problem is that a lot of people had way too many expectations going into this album and never really even listened to any of his past projects. So when he didn’t reach the expectations you had of him without ever truly listening to the type of artist he is, you’re calling it horrible. On top of that, a lot of people love his personality and when a celebrity has a lovable personality, people tend to not separate the person from the music and they expect both to be on the same playing field and more times than not, that’s not how it plays out. So was it a great album? No. But to say it’s trash is a lot. Nowhere near trash, there’s some good tracks on this recordx
exactly bro. people either expected this to be the next rap masterpiece or absolute garbage before listening to it. already biased and ready to praise it or tear it up from top to bottom. either way it prevents you from just chilling out and enjoying some of it, bc it isn’t all trash by any means but it also isn’t all bangers. tbh i expected more as a fan. but just bc it isn’t like his old music doesn’t mean he’s falling off he’s just exploring his sound maybe it’s the wrong direction maybe it’s the right direction maybe it’s a learning experience and he’ll come with something new soon
I do agree that the over-hyped expectations were unrealistic, this project just simply does not put out the same power as "Loose" did. I'll admit that I don't have many artists that I've listened to before everyone knew about them, but Jack happened to be that one artist for me. I tried to put people on to Loose for a solid year. I had that album on repeat up until 2020 pretty much. Then What's Poppin' came out and shit went down hill. That being said man, this album just did not deliver. If he was in the studio for a solid 12 months, had legendary features to back him and THIS is the result? He needs to get back in the studio with 2ForwOyNE as his producer, the rest of his boys, feel their struggles, feel the city, remember his roots and that hunger, EXPERIENCE some life again and then come back. I actually hope he gets shut down a little with this album and learns from it so that he can come back cultivating a more solid sound, what we know he's capable of.
@@YungYdoc i was thinking the same thing, i hope he hears the criticism and goes hard on his next project. he’s definitely trying to capitalize on what’s got him popular right now with these pretty basic romance songs. i hope the noise pushes him back to his roots. not necessarily saying he’s gotta switch his style and move backwards, but get back to that humble and hungry energy and less of a commercialized heart throb. like we know that you “made it” but you still have lots to prove and it’s disappointing we know his potential and it still eludes him
Let's call it what it is. Ever since Mac Miller died, the industry has been looking for a white rapper to fill that void, even if the skillset are totally different. He's a void filler
Honestly I enjoyed a lot of the songs on the album. However, I do think he needed to step up a level with this album and work on a concept, which I thought this album would have based on it’s rollout and title. Unfortunately he didn’t and I was disappointed, but they are still enjoyable. He does need better lyricism though.
It's so refreshing to finally hear someone address how I've felt like Jack for the longest time! Also love the comparison to Urkel/Stefan, you're absolutely right. Besides as a woman myself, I do not understand the appeal beginf Jack. Yikes.
I've never listened to a full length jack Harlow album prior to this, and came in with an open mind. Aside from like 4 songs that are decent, cntrl alt delete the rest of the songs.

Jack is truly an artist that HAS the capability to be a good if not fairly great artist IF he put more dimension, perspective, and creativity into his lyricism, production, and overall more vision into his work. He has the exaggerated swagger, he's got the look, he's got the women and money... He's yet to find and have the creativity though. He may be a cool ass guy, he's not a great artist.
So you’re saying he lacks in every aspect of what makes a rapper great😂 That’s like saying I would be an great NBA player if I could run faster, jump higher and shoot better😂
@@naokihasegawa9243 But your not an NBA player is the difference. You can't fucking even make it to the NBA lmao. A shitty NBA player could be better with time and practice. Tracks like Sundown, Eastern Parkway, and Hitchcock made me a fan of Jack back in 2018. His new music seems to have progressively lost that authenticity since he’s gotten more successful. But can’t hate the dude for enjoying life and success
As a Mexican guy, I don’t like Mexican rappers nor do I like anything that Eminem has put out in the last decade. All my fav rappers are black and it isn’t cuz they are black they just simply make better music.
This video and commentary was everything. This truth needed to be said. Idk why they keep playing first class on the radio. It's catchy, yes, but there's nothing long lasting about it. He's here...for now. Definitely not a drake. His eyes are beautiful though.
Honestly I’ve been a fan of Jack since 2018 Loose/ Gazebo era and I’m scared to listen because I know he’s compromised his sound… he’s put on this cute white boy persona and as long as he keeps this up , his women fanbase won’t care about his Lyrics or unoriginal sounds. Songs like Sundown, Dark Knight, and DripDrop won’t ever come back
Just because y’all like his “personality” and he’s “cool” or whatever doesn’t change the fact that he music is mediocre. But of course, gaslighting and trying to find the next great white hope is definitely playing a role here.

People really blaming label influence for his music going downhill? Boy is a one hit wonder. Not all rappers are talented enough to have great ideas their whole career, some blow their creative load early. That's Jack. Also thank you for the "Hip Hop is no longer a black genre" argument. It's the main reason I just refuse to go see any semi well known rapper in concert: Way too many uneducated white folks in the crowd with absolutely no sense of rhythm.
I'm calling it now, Jack's new album will gets a Grammy over Kendrick's new album. I can already see it happening 😂 It'll be the Macklemore incident all over again.
He had this one bar on the last album that said, "The ones who hate me the most look just like me," and I was like that's a fair point. So I tried to get into his music and across his entire discography he's got about 3 tracks I actually enjoy. He's like if Eminem had no personality and parents who loved him.
I can't help but look at someone like jack and compare him to lil Nas X seeing as a fair amount of jack's buzz came from the industry baby feature and the comparison is not favorable as far as I'm concerned. sure lil Nas X isn't the most lyrically talented or the most technically skilled rapper, but the dude is greatful to be in the position he's in an he's doing absolutely everything he can while it lasts and that makes him really exciting. he's trying a whole bunch of musical styles, he's making the gayest music he can think of, he's pulling the most outrageous stunts he can. it's almost an insult that jack Harlow can get the buzz he gets from being a fuckboy and making lukewarm ass music and it's like "what is this bullshit" Montero is out here staging a fucking pregnancy and some white ass suburban straight dude gets to be famous because he's kind of likeable
I used to think Lil Nas X was fumbling the bag by doing outrageous shit that was alienating casual fans by making them think he's weird, but this comment made me appreciate him wayyyy more.
I just personally think the quality of music have went downhill in quality since 2010. Not just in the lyrics but the quality and production in music in general. I'm not saying to bring 80s synthensers back, I'm saying to put some serious elbow grease into the passion into producing it. Not just a simple stupid trap beat and somebody rapping with it (Not necessarily Jack Harlow). Maybe with more actual digitized instruments, not just making a song that's easy to make.

Confetti, sweet action, and loose are all good but now his music isn’t good. It’s all mainstream and sounds the same and he just makes songs for females now. Credit to him, he’s taken the mantle and is running with it and being very successful, but the music isn’t the same. His last 2 albums aren’t 1/2 as good as sweet action
His main appeal is that he’s white and I’m not going at him being white. He didn’t ask to be white. As soon as he popped off, marketing agencies and companies and studios raced to pay for his brand unlike getting an EARTHGANG or JID. It’s the same as why Iggy Azalea popped off so quickly. Even TI mentioned that her being white and foreign was an easy sell because he signed her. He just has to be white and rap and that’s good enough for the main public which is mostly white girls. Women will invest in their interests over men especially in a persons fanbases and music. This is also why MGK will pop off when he drop his next “rap” album
The difference between Megan/Cardi and Jack is that the “ruining a generation” point is valid bc the audiences of Meg and cardi are almost solely women. Jack howrver, is not ruining a generation of young men bc the majority of his listeners are.. also women. He can’t ruin young men if they think he’s trash.

That’s fair to say

He’s seen the “mainstream arrived and on top blueprint/version” of Drake and basically rearranged and repackaged it for his first album for his own convenience- seemingly ignoring and devaluing the stages of the climb so there is no rich foundation for folk to connect too, like mixtape grind, meaningful co-signing features, much earned achievement- celebration stage and so on. W/o this trajectory, arriving where JH is, you end up with something that’s ultimately hollow and fast fading. And what’s crazy is Drakes SFG mixtape is probably is strongest most compelling project to date. Go figure..
Comparing this man to Drake, worse than comparing Cordae to Cole 💀💀💀💀

Shawn is my music good?
I’d rather take an artist who makes bad music but makes it experimental or different, instead of a rapper who makes the most basic generic music ever
Fr tho
i mean thats tyler the creator in a way and generally speaking his whole appeal.
I mean white people are the main audience for almost every form of entertainment in the west. Since the vast majority is white here
I'm sure that's has nothing to do with the fact that 60% of the USA population are white and only 12% black... and It's the same in almost every country from America and Europe.
@@shadynsx exactly finally someone that isn’t completely brain dead
I think that primarily has to do with the demographics in America. Around 60% of it is white. Which if you consider that, it seems as though the white demographic has nearly equal representation. The other 30% I imagine is largely made up of Latinos and African Americans given that other demographics have single digit populations at best. When I think about it like that it seems like it mirrors the demographics of the country almost to a T, so I wouldn't refer to it so much as a white genre, more so an American genre.
A few artist made it clear that they don't like the fact that a lot of their listeners are white
I thought Doja’s last album was aggressively mid and I don’t even find her personality likeable anymore
@@mariusdamchristophersen1453 I thought it was one of the best pop albums I’ve ever heard
good example tbh and ironically enough that’s why they both have that wave right now.. it’s not that deep and other reasons jacks music is just not as good as doja but obviously not the worst either
Doja Cat is the exact same situation as Jack. Her early music was good but now it’s all just the same bland mid over and over and tbh her personality/look isn’t all that likable anymore either
You're on the money Shawn. I never could get through a full track of his, I get through a verse and a hook and I already get the point.
that hes from money and needs an ENTIRE industry and spotlight to PULL....enough conveyed indeed
Finally somebody saying it. I disagree with Shawn on a lot of stuff but this I definitely co-sign. Raps average at best. Not terrible but way too hyped imo.
Totally agree ppl only hype him because of his likable personality rather than his actual music ability
This is the only time I’m agreeing with him.
he is relying too much on his physical appeal then actually his art or talent, it’s honestly sad seeing the path he’s taking but you can’t blame him in this type of industry, that is the last option he truly has.
Now it just feels like talking what everybody else is talking about (like drake).
fr confetti is amazing
he really isnt that good lol. the reason people hate jack harlow is because he is very clearly being mass marketed by the music industry and its very obvious and annoying lol.
Dang that‘s exactly what I thought. Confetti was such a dope album. Been still only listening to this day in my whip. Jack Harlow just went absolutely downhill musically after whats poppin.
hes a half assed drake. his music is like modern family, shit you turn on in the background
Did you really just write a whole paragraph about another man? 😂🤦🏿♂️

This album wasn’t bad and me personally I liked some songs, flows and definitely the production but it’s not enough to compare to the lead up of who he and everyone else is trying to convince us he is.
Nowhere near trash, there’s some good tracks on this recordx

either way it prevents you from just chilling out and enjoying some of it, bc it isn’t all trash by any means but it also isn’t all bangers. tbh i expected more as a fan. but just bc it isn’t like his old music doesn’t mean he’s falling off he’s just exploring his sound maybe it’s the wrong direction maybe it’s the right direction maybe it’s a learning experience and he’ll come with something new soon
