Next No Prayer for the Dying album, Different to Seventh Son of course, and it was recorded at "barn yard studios" they literally recorded it in a barn at Steve Harris house in Essex in 1990, As mentioned Adrian Smith had now left, Enter Mr Janick gears. Personally I love No Prayer for the Dying, it's often overlooked but in my opinion it's a sleeper album, it's really very good, I do hope you appreciate it for what it is, Also it contains there only No1 hit single Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter, Can't wait for the reaction to the album.
This album grows on you. After multiple listens you'll find that it has the best replay value from 80s Maiden, along with SIT. You can listen to these 2 albums a million times and they never get overplayed.
Hey Buddy, congratulations on completing this monumental album, you will never be the same again... in a good way of course! Now its time to listen to it right through, no interruptions and you’ll appreciate how seamlessly it all works together, a truly otherworldly experience, bookended by Bruce’s opening and closing dark poetry. I’ll hold my tongue on NPFTD for now, I don’t want to spoil the party!
Yes, Excited for the next one! Thank you so much for your daily video's, watching them is my daily ritual since you began the maiden journey :) New camera is looking good! Greetings from the Netherlands.
For me this is one of Maiden's best, some of the lyrics are just amazing 'walking on water, are miracles all you can trust, measure your coffin does it measure up to your lust?' Just brilliant
Cool reaction, Homey! There's a lot more great Maiden to come. Once you hit Brave New World, Dance Of Death, etc .. you'll see that Maiden has a lot more than seven great albums. In fact, many maiden fans prefer 2000s Maiden to 80's Maiden. Cheers BrotherMan!
Iron Maiden's 1990 album 'No prayer for the dying' gets a lot of flack cos Adrian Smith (guitar) left and was replaced by guitarist Janick Gers... Steve Harris recorded the album in his studio and wanted a raw, stripped-down Maiden sound... and a bit more variety. Maybe 'No prayer' was a bit rushed, but they still cranked out great songs like 'Holy Smoke' ... 'Tailgunner' ... 'Run silent, run deep' ... 'Mother Russia'... The title track 'No prayer for the dying' was a bit subtle... The #1 single "Bring your daughter to the slaughter" is quite funky 😂 but it could get a crowd clapping along to the Bruce Dickinson song. As for Blaze Bayley, the vocalist who replaced Bruce Dickinson in 1994... his voice went back to that gruff delivery like Paul Di'Anno... He didn't quite have Dickinson's vocal range, so he sounded odd singing the Maiden classics like 'Heaven can wait' and 'The number of the beast' in concert... but he did have a powerful voice that got him the gig. Maiden's songs in 1995 on 'The X Factor' were darker and more ominous than past records, so his voice fit on those tracks... but Maiden was writing more progressive songs going into 1998 and that required a more operatic vocal delivery, and Blaze Bayley just didn't have it... he was also having difficulty singing Dickinson's songs in concert, and fans just did not warm up to him. However, Steve Harris stood by the work Blaze Bayley did... Harris produced 'The X Factor' and it was very much a product of his musical vision at the time.
Adrian Smith sadly was not longer in the band after seventh son. You will miss his guitar solos and songwriting skills. He returned togheter with bruce dickinson on the 2000 release brave new world. Dickinson left the band after 1993 release and tour Fear of the dark.
Phew, thought you were going to cut the end. You could always catch on later but it wouldn’t be the same. Glad you enjoyed the album and your Maiden rollercoaster.
Glad to see that you started to like Moonchild as time went by. It's my favourite Maiden song full stop. The lyrics and the way Bruce delivers them is just something else.
Hey so glad you love this album! Yes you will love it much better when you read the lyrics with the songs and listening straight through. And No prayer for the dying is underrated. I said what I said. I love the album tbh!
The ending is the beginning of Moonchild because the whole album is a Concept album, it's basically one single song divided in several parts. And just like almost all their songs, Maiden like to close the song in the same way they open it.
Dude! you have to do every maiden song going forwards!...it'll take a while but we'll get there together!! Keep going brother. Maybe its nosalgia but 4 songs from the next two albums are in my Top 5 maiden songs .....UP THE IRONS!!!
90' Maiden is the "worst" maiden era,but still there's no bad album(we could consider Virtual Xl as an "OK" album IMO) and there are a lot of songs that you will love for sure Ps:Blaze, which is the third singer of maiden is not as good as Bruce actually but I think that his voice fit very well with the 2 albums he made with the band
All I can say is thank you for investing your time by listening to all these album with a "real intention to listen to them" I appreciate that! No Prayer it's a good album, with some good songs, I'll give you a preview: Mother Russia. This song will bring back 7th Son. I'm '80s Maiden fan and the last Maiden album ever paid for was this and Fear of the Dark to again buying Brave New World. Maiden for me was 7th Son and back. I will watch your listening to the next one to see what your review reaction.
There's no doubt you will sense an immediate drop-off with the next album, just how much of a drop-off remains to be seen. It'll likely be substantial, though. It was a lost decade in a number of ways. The replacement singer Blaze is a great guy and a quality singer, but just not a good fit for much of Maiden's catalog. Very different than Dickinson. It was a choice by Harris that shocked a lot of people.
If you like song with “only the good die young”, specially after Maiden, you should check Scorpions - the good die Young. They did good as well. Anyway Nice final masterpiece for a Great record. And now, 90th era comes. The hardest time of Iron Maiden, but with such great song with Blaze and Janick, the new band mate of the 90s!!!
Good job finishing the golden era of Maiden... The few songs I like from 90s Maiden are, "Tailgunner" and "Run Silent, Run Deep" (both are ww2 fighting songs but not nearly as good as Aces High), "Fear Of The Dark", and "The Clansman" (especially when sung by Bruce live) which is based off the movie Braveheart... And also "Man On The Edge" based off another movie... Lol
This song grew on me a lot since I've first listened to it. It was a meh song to me that I'd rarely listen but now it's among my favorite fast banger type of songs by Iron Maiden, along with Flight Of Icarus and Aces High.
It took me a while but I now regard No Prayer For The Dying as hugely underrated. Childhoods End is easily my favourite from Fear of the Dark, but never enjoyed the title track as much as some do. Blaze era hit and miss, although I do enjoy his vocals. Blood on the Worlds Hands, Sign of the Cross and The Clansman a few gems.
Good song with great bass parts. The album overall good. Great? That’s debatable. I wore this tap out in ‘88 but I still wear out their earlier albums today. I would love to have heard this album redone without the synth.
Say what you want about no prayer for the dying, but the opening track "tail gunner" is awesome!. So is bring your daughter to the slaughter, hooks in you is okay, the title track isn't that bad, mother Russia is okay too. I give the album a 7/10, not as bad as people make it out to be.
With the exception of "No Prayer", their nineties albums are soooo underrated. The problem is that people expect hearing the same thing over and over again. Take it from a 23 years Maiden fan.
Man honestly this song is my favorite on the album, idk something about it just makes it so triumphant and epic way to end the album. Next albums I guess you should check out is their 90s stuff which isn't their best period but there are plenty of hidden gems in those albums. The first to go is No Prayer for the Dying, which is actually my least favorite Maiden album, but let's see what you think about it.
Hey CrazyKing. Nice to see you drop in. I'm tutoring Hurm on Maiden. He plans on doing albums and tracks in order. Yes, this is my least favorite Bruce Dickinson album. I think they could have used Adrian. Up the Irons🤘
@@metalmark1214 It wasn't just Adrian though, because the album has such a crappy production in my opinion and was such a letdown compared to freaking SSOASS! Also the songs themselves are mostly stupid and forgettable lol.
90's Maiden is their "down" decade. No Prayer is the weakest album with Bruce IMO. Seventh Son underperformed, especially in America. So the response was to have No Prayer attempt to strip the sound down to basics and while there's some good songs it largely falls a bit flat. The next one, Fear of the Dark felt like to me was made to gain some commercial success back in America. I think it's better than No Prayer. You will notice Bruce changed the vocals on both these albums to sound a bit raspy. Then after 92 Grunge hits hard and you have the two albums with Blaze Bailey replacing Bruce. I was never a fan of Blaze's voice. The first with Blaze, X Factor, is pretty good although very dark. The next one Virtual XI in my opinion has only two songs I will still listen to. Things get much better when Bruce and Adrian Smith return (I felt they really missed his songwriting). They start to become more progressive with their approach but I really love the Reunion Era. Anyway, that's my take on 90's Maiden...not my favorite era for certain but I remain a fanboy, lol.
The "90s albums" are not as bad as some might have you believe. The bar is just set too high after so many incredible records in the 80s. They all have good songs, and even a few absolute gems. I even like X Factor though I understand why some don't, since it just feels so different to everything before it. Mind you, the previous doesn't apply to Virtual XI, that's utter crap. Well, at least it was when I last tried it some 10 years ago.
“7 incredible albums in a row……the next one is errrr… no prayer for the dying” oh dear😬😬😬😬 the only Maiden Album I don’t listen to , and yes I am counting the Blaze albums.
Well the masterpiece is over, 😂🤣. This is a half way decent song, especially like the bass section. I'm glad Bruce is wrong about the song title. Best songs for me - The Evil that Men Do and The Clairvoyant. Sorry Hurm, Maiden goes through a very tough period, in fact the next album I have not one song on my 100+ Iron Maiden MP3 disk. We'll see what you think.
The title track of No Prayer For The Dying is a special one in my opinion. I am not saying the rest is bad but nothing special as an Iron Maiden song to me.
7 great albums in a row! Amazing! The rest is Maiden light! Adrian leaves for 4 albums. Bummer. The next two albums are half ass. I like about half of each album. Even then it’s Maiden light. Then comes the Blaze albums! No comment yet. Lol.
No Prayer for the Dying sucks. Adrian was right to leave. The production is awful, the songs are phoned in, and it’s so dull following the magnificence of 1980-1988. I’ve been a fan for 38 years, so I’m entitled to my opinion.
Next No Prayer for the Dying album, Different to Seventh Son of course, and it was recorded at "barn yard studios" they literally recorded it in a barn at Steve Harris house in Essex in 1990, As mentioned Adrian Smith had now left, Enter Mr Janick gears. Recorded in a barn, that explains things🤣 One of their worst albums IMO, but glad you like it.
I 100% agree with you man
Always really like no prays and fear of the dark, don't see them as bad just different, just love the fact all there albums sound so different
This album grows on you. After multiple listens you'll find that it has the best replay value from 80s Maiden, along with SIT. You can listen to these 2 albums a million times and they never get overplayed.
Grows on you like a fungus 😂🤣

I call synth Maiden, still better than the next album.

damn right ı rarely find myself listening to 80s classics. 2000s MAiden appeals me more and ı ve been listening to them for 30 years now
just dont quit the voyage when you get to 90s era. ıt has its own gems. 2000 era is fuckng legandary

This was THE album that did get me through bullying etc back 7th-9 grades, used to fall sleep to Seventh son of the Seventh Son in repeat....

Hey Hurm, what's your ranking of the first seven? So excited for the ride through the 90's!
Listened to No Prayer album again this week. I am always surprised how raw and powerful that album. Its really great!
I would have loved to have this album remade without any synths
Fantastic album. On my top 5
Up the irons 🔥. Going to their gig on July the 7 🤘🏻
Coincidentally it ranks 7th for me.
This next album marked the departure of Adrian Smith and introduced Janick Gres on guitar, Adrian would soon return in 1999.

I don't even know the songs in the Blaze era, heard a few songs and skipped right to Brave New World.
Oh. You HAVE TO react to the music video for Holy Smoke. It is hilarious! 😁
Holy Smoke, the church is on fire 😂🤣
All I can say is thank you for investing your time by listening to all these album with a "real intention to listen to them" I appreciate that! As mentioned, the next album is so much different, that’s the good thing about maiden they do what they want, the voyage is only half way through
life is a learning curve Hurm.
So true. But it helps that I'm playing tutor for Iron Maiden for Hurm.

versions of the songs (2015). they sound much better...!
Very cool song to close this masterpiece album

There are sone bangers on "no prayer".
A’rry Harris as be quoted saying he was to play this song live he gets my vote there’s abit in this song what sounds like the knight rider theme tune
Good song with great bass parts. The album overall good. Great? That’s debatable. I wore this tap out in ‘88 but I still wear out their earlier albums today. I would love to have heard this album redone without the synth.
I would love to have heard this album free of synth, it definitely moved it up from my 7th best on my Maiden album list.
