    Wow! I grew up in Lakewood. This helps me see how things have changed over the years. That is so sad about the Trinity Lutheran Church. I used to go to church there when I still lived in the area.

    I like how they use the same tree for Christmas every year instead of cutting down a different tree every year like other cities across the country. It's much more practical this way.

    Aladin's used to be a local store with a deli inside and my mom and I would sometimes go there to get something for lunch, or she would send me across the street from the doctor's office where she worked to pick up something for us. The people there were so nice.

    This was probably one of my favorites that you have done (although I like them all!)...I lived in Lakewood from early 2000's through 2008 when I moved and got married. I lived on a few different streets throughout that time and have to come back at some point...Looks like there has really been a lot of updates to the general area....makes me really miss it! Thanks for all the diligence you put forth in each of your videos!

    I was a student at Western Reserve U. In the sixties. Lived at Andrews House, which was a dorm then. Will never forget coming back there Nov 22, 1063, and seeing the TV on with Walter Cronkite [sp?] telling about the Kennedy shooting. Life was never the same after that. Anyway lived in Lakewood until 1974. Worked part time at Detroit Ave. Printing owned by Gary Friedman. His dad had started the business. Lived at a few places in my years there. Last was The Carlyle. Apartments when they were first constructed. My then husband, infant son and I were at Lakewood Park July 4th, 1969, when killer storm blew in off the lake. We were unharmed but other there were not as lucky. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. 😂

    Oh my gosh I totally love this video and I am now so homesick for Lakewood!! I was born in Lakewood Hospital, but I didn’t grow up in Cleveland my whole life .. lived in Lakewood in the early 90s and then moved to Parma Heights but you are covering a lot of area that I used to frequent. Just watching your video. It still feels like home. I wanna move across the bridge into Rocky River in the pink condominium building now I’m in love with it all over again. I’m going on Zillow to look at them.

    the building across from where the doctors' offices used to be when Lakewood Hospital was there, a restaurant used to be on the first floor called The Pouter Mug. My mom worked in one of the doctors' offices across the street and sometimes I would be at her work, and we would walk across the street to the Pouter mug for lunch. It was a very fancy place.

    Thanks for sharing! Really has been a nice stretch of weather today and this week in northeast Ohio. 2 fun facts that apartment (across from Black Bird Baking Company) was actually my grandma's apartment. Another fun fact is I actually ate inside the Black Bird Baking Company. Wich was my first time eating inside. One problem is I am in a wheelchair and there is not wheelchair accessible in the front but in the back there is. (But I have to go through the kitchen to get to the main dining area. And I actually live on Portman across from Honey Hut. So it was cool to see my street on video. Sorry just had to throw that in there! I saw the Old Brooklyn video.

      When I do videos, I often think to myself, "man, it'd be nice to try covering all of these city streets (with just houses) in a video, but it would take forever and there's just too many." So that's cool that two areas you were familiar with were featured!
      It's similar with food places, bakeries, restaurants, lol. I want to try them all (like Blackbird), but then there are like hundreds of other places I want to try too, lol.

    The White, empty building you passed by ELbur Ave. used to be Miller's Dining Room, which was famous for their sticky buns. I used to go there with my parents to meet my aunt and uncle when they came into town, and we would all eat there together.

    • @PokoTraveler
      @PokoTraveler  Год назад

      I want to cover both Rocky River and Fairview Park. I'm thinking the Rocky River video might start where this Lakewood video did, but I'd go the opposite direction on Detroit; then go to a certain point and maybe walk to Rocky River Park?
      The Fairview Park/Rocky River one would probably focus on Center Ridge Road, which is basically on the border of both.
