Yeah it works fine with Windows 10, especially if the ram is upgraded and an SSD installed. I used Windows 10 on it a few months back and it worked fine. But of course not as fast as a more modern PC.

@@TechKingdom35 The 4,1 can run the Chromium-legacy, so it's useable for the web. Mostly I've been running old games on it, but since I can use it for browsing, I think I'll stick it in our 'train room' and just use it there for music streaming or youtube while I"m fussing with the trains.

As far as I know it is sepcifically developped for PPC. But one might be able to extract the theme from there. But the other opimizations I'm not too sure.

You can create a USB installer for macOS. There are plenty tutorials online. Just google the version of macOS you want to install followed by something like "usb installer".
It was just personal preference. I have a few other devices running Tiger so I wanted to have this one on Snow Leopard. But I later setup a dualboot with tiger actually :D
Yes it supports Windows 10, I did a video on that a while back. The Linux distros should work fine as well. Or probably better than Windows 10. I had Lubuntu on this MacBook before doing the updates to test the hardware and it ran fine.

Hi, you can put in two 2GB DDR2 SoDimm RAM sticks. The term ROM is not really applicable to notebooks. The main storage of phones is sometimes called ROM. But that would be the SSD in this case. And yes this MacBook has a SATA interface and can use any 2.5 inch SATA SSD. Have fun with the notebook :)

You could install Windows or Linux on it to have a PC for light tasks like Webbrowsing or Office. You could play some retro games on the thing. Use it as music streaming device. Or just as backup in case your new laptop breaks.
Probably not. The Intel GMA950 GPU in those old MacBooks is very weak. I tried Vice City on it years ago and it was early able to run it, and that was under Windows XP not 10.

Sorry but this is a 2006 macbook 2,1. It came with 1GB and apple said it can officially support 2GB. Unofficially it can be loaded with 4GB but only about 3.5 GB can be used because the memory region that stores the Memory Mapped IO in the intel 945PM chipset. There is an article on everymac about this called "Why are the MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" models limited to 3 GB of memory?"
The GMA 950 GPU in this MacBook is super low spec. And there is no support for it in anything newer than macOS 10.7 I think. So sadly there is no way to get newer versions of macOS working on it in a usable way.

I have similar, but mine is macbook 4,1. I dual boot Leopard and Lion. My battery was completely dead, but they still had replacements on amazon.

You should check the leopard reborn, a great high sierra theme for osx leopard, if i'm not mistaken it will work for the intel-leopard too

You could either use an external storage medium with time machine or use disk utility and create an image of the whole harddrive

I got a 2010 plastic macbook but it has no battery in it where should i get a battery for it?
Sadly original batteries are not produced anymore. There are reproductions on eBay, but since the battery is part off the case they look a bit weird.

The macbook a1181 with 3 gb ram and ssd may support win 10 and ubuntu mate 20.04 or zorinos 15.3 and work fine.

It could only runs on 4GB max..2GB on both are quite good for running the ram..

I bought a mini dvi adapter and it's very small.
Maybe you got sent a mini displayport adapter. They are for the newer MacBooks and not conpatible with this one

The maximum ram for these 2007 devices are 4GB instead of 3GB.
As far as I know you can put 4GB into them and they will even show up in the system info but macOS can only use 3GB. At least according to EveryMac.

I think that the macOS steam client would work in a his Mac and that a quarter of your pc steam games would work on this Mac
Steam might install and run but the intel GMA 950 iGPU would be a massive bottleneck

Try to use Hackintosh to run macOS Big Sur or Catalina on this old MacBook.
