I disagree with saying that Lady Gouldians don't dwell too much on the cage floor. I have been placing the food and water on the bottom of the cage for about 2 years now, and they love it, plus they spend minutes several times during the day searching and digging for whatever they can find on the floor, just like regular chickens do in the open, and it's a time when they are very social as a group, they are very curious as to what each other finds or eats, and they explore everything around. I just make sure that there are no perches directly on top of the food and water dishes so nothing can drop on them. And it's comical how they rapidly walk or hop on the floor at times, turning left or right and occasionally stealing food from another bird's bill.
