I have an early model just like the one in this video. I was testing it to get it ready to sell and then realized once again how incredible it is! It is staying here! Watching this video certainly cemented my decision.
So funny. I did the same thing. My 1994 had been sitting for a while. So I decided to give her a little tlc. I swapped out the tubes, cleaned the pots and swapped out the Jensen for a Texas heat. I’m never letting her go. No way.
@@mattc.883 they have a special tone, both normal channel and overdrive channel that is rare and although similar to early Marshalls it is in a class of it's own. Did you notice how beefy the nuts on the input jacks are? Very good quality hardware too.

Agree, have a 212 Lionheart that not only sounds gorgeous but looks great. Was looking for a mid-gain amp and it's perfect. Having 2 12"s pushing air fills my room. This Delta Blues has a ton of options. I'm never without a Peavey amp and wish I would have kept all the models I've had over the years. Hughes & Kettner also did a killer job with their amps. Nice to have options.
Twenty years ago I walked into a music store with $600 ready to buy a Fender Blues or Hot Rod series, but played a bunch of amps and walked out with the Peavey DB210. On tone and reliability, never regretted it, all stock parts, and still my main amp. Gives me tonal versatility and a different sound than "everybody else." My only hassle through the years has been explaining it to gear snobs before they hear how it cuts through. Thanks for showing this amp's cred, Johan. 115 or 210, both great.
This is my experience exactly, although I bought the PV Classic 50 410 (pretty sure the Delta Blues didn't exist yet). But also walked in with my mind made up to buy a HR Deville and walked out with a Peavey. I had the amp for about 12 years and only replaced it because I was tired of fixing broken control pots, and also explaining to people why I still used a Peavey. Ironically the same people would also ask me for tone tips because I had a great sound. The Classic 50 remains probably the best amp I've ever owned, despite the fact that I now have a 'boutique' Dr Z. All the Peavey Classics are great.

Finally!! I was going to write to you and tell you to do a video on the delta blues. I have been using this amp (2x10) for ten years. A few years ago I couldnt even sell it for $280. I wouldnt even get rid of it for $600 if someone offered it to me. Its not the most versatile amp in the world but what it does it does the best and Its one of the biggest bangs for the buck for around $350 used. Thanks!

The PVDB is a sensational amp along with the C302x12 and the C20HD! (Which I own! ) It's a seriously GOOD sounding amp! Only thing that lets it down is the emulated outs and the reverb! The woman I sold it to has used it as her #1 for her entire decade+ long career as a local hero singer/songwriter/loud rock rhythm guitar player. Y'all are getting a lot out of it! I used it mostly for clean Strat sounds or dirty sounds with pedals.
Love the tones you and Simon got out of this underrated amp. Great cleans and crunch, with a lot of gain on tap too. I've had a 210 version for years that's a really versatile all-around amp (hope you can demo one someday), but I might have to check out the 115 too based on this video.

The Grant Henry Stemage tone. Metroid Metal :) For those who are interested the Delta Blues has enough gain to yield a very unique sounding high gain metal tone without a the assistance of a Tube Screamer/Overdrive boosting it or even high output pickups.
these are decent amps, I have a mid 90s tweed Classic 30, which is almost the same amp but has a 12" Blue Marvel speaker. My amp sounds good when the mid boost button is off. Can hear that "Cold Gin" tone! The 15" gives it a great sound, I like how the reverb sounds on this one too. Great playing by you and Simon. Always great content! Stay safe, Johan!
I first listen to the studio recording of "cold gin" from the first album and then "Alive" version, where we know Eddie Cramer dubbed the guitars. After listening to Alive" "studio dubbing", I want to compliment you, Johan and Simon too on the tone. I will also make sense that a tweed kind of combo was available to Ace at that time in 1975 at Record Plant. God weekend Johan
If I could get mine to sound that good. Maybe I need to isolate it for a while. I run it along with a Peavey Classic 4x10. My neighbors seem to like it.......

Regardless, this amp has tons to offer and I'm a huge fan of Peavey and have always had at least one in the room. But nothing sounds better than his Laney Supergroup through the Hiwatt, that is now my dream rig. The tone with single coils is so amazing.
Even though I had my marshall at home , when I'd get off the bus in high school , I'd always ended up at the nearby mall (square one in mississauga ontario) and played the classic 30 and this delay blues brother ... always had problem preferring one to the other .... the 15 inch sound is something else

Can't gig with the Princeton, no head room. The 68 custom deluxe is great but no drive channel. The only pedal I use with the Delta blues is a Fulltone fat boost. They only thing wrong with Peavey is their marketing. Fenders are great but....
@@MrMoneyHelper i paid $400 for my used Delta Blues like 7 or 8 years ago. brand new they are $800. i would call that pretty damn cheap in a world where flagship fenders go for over $1k and flagship marshalls go for over $2k
Like every other amp manufactured in this price zone, The DB has a few faults. If you look for them. The usual “mod” is to change the speaker. A bit of searching on the forum threads will lead you to the strong possibility that the speaker is just a rebranding of a fairly familiar and appropriate Eminence 15”. There is also cap mod that is supposed to smooth out the bright end a bit (I think the website was “Blueshawk”). Mine has worked just fine for the last 10 years and is a 2004 like this one, with the old Peavey badge on the tweed. Driving the clean channel hard and using the guitar volume to ride the amount of drive generated is a good call. I lacquered mine to save the faux tweed covering and have often got compliments form guitar players about how good my “old Fender tweed vintage amp” sounds! Lol. Now you’ve made this video they’ll think i bought it as a hidden gem!
Good amps. Essentially a Classic 30 with the bigger speaker. My Brother owned one for many years. That 15" yanks out some of the middy/compressed nature you get with the 12, and makes it sound a bit more Marshally.
I've one of these things. Made in USA in 1997. JJ tubes. Well, it is a rock machine. These amps deserve more attention. Nevertheless we tend to spend a lot of money for the boutique amp (that is great, sure)...
Good ear on the Cold Gin comparison. I read that on the first Kiss album, Ace used a cranked tweed amp. At the time Plexis and other Marshalls were basically trying to be giant tweed amps, so this was probably a more manageable way to get the sound in the studio.
Thanks, guys. Great little amp with a big tone for months. Wonder how it sounds with the Fullback. Simon really kills it this time, especially in the second half IMO.
All of the guitars sounded really good - each one's unique tone characteristics came out nicely. I wonder how the amp would sound in a band situation. That reminds me - some day you and Simon should do some simultaneous playing - would be great to see you guys each pick out a favorite guitar and amp and jam.
Great review of an underrated amp! Please check out the many videos of Darrel Higham playing his Peavey Delta Blues 1x15". He gets amazing tone while playing rockabilly with big hollow body guitars.
I had one I bought used from Guitar center but had this intense fizz when the volume was up even after changing tubes. It sounded great but I didn’t want to drop the money to fix it as it was probably something wrong on the board. It did sound amazing though and I might get another one day.
I used to have one of these. I tested it out against the classic 30, and bought the delta blues. Very cool sounding amp. Why did I ever get rid of it? I want it back.
I have a Peavey Classic 30. Great amp. Both clean and crunch are excellent. However, I almost never play it because I live in an apartment building. It is a very loud amp even when you just barely turn it up. I would imagine the Delta Blues is twice as loud.
I've swapped out Blue Marvels (for Celestion, Weber, EV, etc.) many times, but end up putting the Blue Marvel back in. I've read that Eminence makes them and they are matched just for the Peavey amp they're used in.
@@songboy765 the Celestion Fullback is the best guitar speaker on the market since the early 70's celestion speakers which could never be replicated because the Celestion factory with the original blueprints burned down. Just ask the legendary Johan Sageborn.
I think I remember reading that this is the same circuit as the Classic 30- just with tremolo, and, of course, it's 1x15 or 2x10 not 1x12. Love the tremolo on this! This amp is definitely one of Peavey's gems. One of the many on the list of amps I'd love to own, lol. Plenty of good sounds in there- and it's loud as hell!
pyroman6000 i used to own a classic 30 combo, now I have the classic 20 mini head that I run through 2x12 cabs....I think the classic series of amps hold their own 👍
I think the Blue Marvel speakers really raised the bar for stock speakers when Peavey started making them and putting them in their amps. Even the little 8 inch one that came in the Rage 158 sounded better than many 10 inch stock speakers. Nowadays most budget amps come with fairly decent speakers,... I remember when that was NOT the case (80s-early 2000s),.. and I think the Blue Marvel had a bit to do with changing that.

I just ordered one of these, and I'll be experimenting with the Electro Voice SRO 15. Wish me luck!
Any thoughts on the SRO?
Beautiful sounds! Great tone and playing! Nice amp. Cheers!
Oh my god!!! I LOVE THE PEAVEY SOUND!!! I've got a Peavey Classic 20 combo and I love it! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Johan! 👏👏👏👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Peavey! Who knew?! 😉 Great demo and sweet Ace riffs!
Thanks Scott, glad to hear that!
Hi, Johan!
Nice amp - all the effects are great. Very strong sound. The best were LP and Telecaster! C.U.
Z.
Thanks man, see you!
One of the best amps ever made!
Very cool I have a PV classic 4/10 cab that is great
Love me some Peavey Classic series amps! Had the 2x10 model of this amp, loved it!
The Grant Henry Stemage tone. Metroid Metal :) For those who are interested the Delta Blues has enough gain to yield a very unique sounding high gain metal tone without a the assistance of a Tube Screamer/Overdrive boosting it or even high output pickups.
The best combo amp.....Ty Bro
Great amp, had mine for well over 10 years now! I swap between the 15in and a 1950s 12in Jensen.
Also, just wanted to mention Simon's playing again. He absolutely scorched on this demo!
Thanks, he did indeed! Cheers!
DAMN thats an amazing tone. That junior in the background just teasing us D: wish you played it!
Damm Johan what a tone monster I’m glad you have been touched by peavey you should do the JSX head or combo keep the videos coming.
Thanks Ricky, I’m gonna do the JSX first chance I get!
Peavey Bravo's from the early 1990 and peavey valve king 50-100 Watts ( I got both) and those are great freaking amplifiers !
these are decent amps, I have a mid 90s tweed Classic 30, which is almost the same amp but has a 12" Blue Marvel speaker. My amp sounds good when the mid boost button is off. Can hear that "Cold Gin" tone! The 15" gives it a great sound, I like how the reverb sounds on this one too. Great playing by you and Simon. Always great content! Stay safe, Johan!
Thanks Mark! Glad you like it!
Cheers Steffen, Trevlig helg!
If I could get mine to sound that good.
Maybe I need to isolate it for a while. I run it along with a Peavey Classic 4x10. My neighbors seem to like it.......
I have the same amp 2003 US made.. never gonna let it go.
Wait... I just realized that he doesn't have more than 100k subscribers! Been watching this channel for a long time because the variety of amps and killers tones. Just assumed he was was way higher.
That first tone was spot on with Black Sabbath tone.
Thanks, great to hear that!
Now my head is melted. Looking at one of these amps or a blues junior . This looks to be exceptional value and a little more watts
Just ordered one of these. Thanks for the inspiration to spend money. :)
How great my Peavey Delta Blues sounds you asked....well.....it sounds so good that I sold my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe IV and my Blackstar HT Club 50.
Requesting a demo of an Epiphone Blues Custom 30...
This was a wonderful demo of a great modern classic... I believe there was
also a 2x 10" version and some of them go back to being dedicated accordion amps
Cheers mates
Thanks Jonny, we’ll do the Blues Custom first chance we get! Cheers!
@@JohanSegeborn Thanx Johan... I'd could dig your take on it plus I love the treatment you do with amps... It's like you're reading my mind... "What do the tubes look like , Oh what does the back with the speaker showin- oh yeah ...I wonder what the circuit looks li- oh yeah" yeah mang, you're amazing
There's one in the pawn shop down the road here... $200.
Another great video! That can be had from the used market at around $300 bucks ! I think I’ll dig up one for myself now 🤗
Great video as always! I'd love to see what settings you guys use on these amp videos. You have a good ear for dialing these in.
Thanks Joe! Here We mostly used the clean channel dimed with the bass rolled off to about 2-3
I think I will buy one of these in the morning. I’m on the road working and I have a good guitar for my days off. Unfortunately I’m plugging into into a Katanna 50. I mean I think I might hate it. So I have a chance to get one of these for a good price. I think I’ll get it.
had one 20 years ago as a test.. it sounded great.. very loud very very loud
Best amp I've ever had. Been playing for over 30 years, die hard fender guy came across the Delta blues 20 years ago and it's all I gig with. Blues classic rock, etc. I have the Princeton r.i. and the 68 custom deluxe and they're nice amps but the Peavey's got better cleans the either one of them. Can't gig with the Princeton, no head room. The 68 custom deluxe is great but no drive channel. The only pedal I use with the Delta blues is a Fulltone fat boost. They only thing wrong with Peavey is their marketing. Fenders are great but....
1x15 or 2x10?
@@sojerz1044 15" blue marvel.
Hi Johan, you're are right, the Peavey is a modern classic, as much as you and Simon are 😀. And it was cheap until now. See ya tomorrow. Cheers.
Thanks my friend, Cheers!
@@MrMoneyHelper i paid $400 for my used Delta Blues like 7 or 8 years ago. brand new they are $800. i would call that pretty damn cheap in a world where flagship fenders go for over $1k and flagship marshalls go for over $2k
Amazing!!! No pedals used?
If you ever get a chance to do the Classic 30 again but with different cabs that would be cool. Top class stuff as always cheers.
Thanks Peter! We’re actually gonna do a Classic 50 head through a vintage Marshall cab next week. We loved that tone when we tried it. Cheers
Johan Segeborn Sweet. My wife will kill me if I get a 412 cab but maybe the video will help to convince her.
Delta Blues sales are going to see a spike this month! I had a Peavey Classic 30 and loved it.
:-)
Good amps. Essentially a Classic 30 with the bigger speaker. My Brother owned one for many years. That 15" yanks out some of the middy/compressed nature you get with the 12, and makes it sound a bit more Marshally.
Mayb the best channel on Utube
Some decent keef tones in that thing too.
Both 30 watts
Now imagine how good this would sound on the newer Delta blues 1x15 that has the epic Celestion. Got mine. It's a keeper.
Plenty of good sounds in there- and it's loud as hell!
pyroman6000 i used to own a classic 30 combo, now I have the classic 20 mini head that I run through 2x12 cabs....I think the classic series of amps hold their own 👍
Strat sounds awesome through that.
Thanks Thom!
J.C. that’s fantastic tone
Thanks!
Everyone wants one!
Yeah, both Blue Marvel and Sheffield’s are killer speakers
