The story takes place several years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, Nero having set up his own demon hunting agency based out of a van adorned with a neon "Devil May Cry" sign Dante gave him with support from Kryie and his engineer Nico. But on April 30, Nero encounters a dying demon who rips off his Devil Bringer arm to acquire the Devil Arm Yamato, intent on settling a feud with Dante. A few days later, a man known as "V" comes to the Devil May Cry office to hire Dante, Lady, and Trish to kill a certain demon from their past that is about to return. The group arrive in Red Grave City on May 16, crossing paths with Nero as they are both after the same figure: A demon named Urizen who has planted a demon tree called Qliphoth in the city. They try to attack Urizen together, but he overpowers them all and Dante holds Urizen off so V can get Nero to safety. Dante is ultimately defeated and his Rebellion sword breaks, while Urizen turns Lady and Trish into cores for the demons Artemis and Cavaliere Angelo...
Unfortunately for copyright reasons, we had to mute the music during our playthrough. It's unfortunate, but we've had too many issues with Capcom and copyrighted music before. We completely understand if you prefer not to watch like that, so just wanted to give you guys a heads up!

This is how games should have progressed. DMC has kept itself and did not lose touch of it's audience sacrificing quality for money. I respect everything that went into making this game.

when nero says "Dantes not gonna die here, neither are you" VERGIL GIVES A SMALL NOD. oh god do you think he retains the memories of V? V said he regret separating his humanity and he realises all those things he lost are the important ones and not power. I wonder if Vergil remembers this
LazyBean I believe he does. Which is why him and Dante seem to be in good terms. He prolly miss those happy times him and Dante had when they use to fight but on friendly terms. Vergil prolly missed that bond.
I'm sure Vergil remembers V because he thanks Nero right after they re-combine.
and also his traumatic thoughts and nightmares when he was Nelo Angelo were gone since the manifestation of those thoughts (griffin, shadow, and nightmare) choosed to die for his sake.
He has a hell of a lot of things to atone for, but the fact that he and Dante are now on friendlier terms and having their old sibling banter without a trace of their previous venom means he's got a foot down the right path. Things'll surely be awkward as hell when they get out, because they have Yamato, there is not a chance they won't get out eventually.
Personally, I would like a redeemed Vergil to remain quiet and reserved, but with a surprising capacity for humor - albeit the witting clever deadpan kind. The kind that takes someone a second to realize they'd actually been insulted.
He certainly does. Before he vanishes in the portal, he said "Thank You Nero" sincerely, apparently remembering it was Nero who had helped him (as V) walk up to Urizen. When Nero asked "what happened to V?" Dante said "he returned to *himself*", with no surprise whatsoever.

V is living proof of how soft and sensitive Vergil actually is. Years of trauma hardened the poor bastard.
I'd have to kindly agree. Who else could keep an old poetry book for so well, for some 35-40 years, when he is a homeless man busy fighting every day? I always got tears in eye when I heard he said to his son, "I beg you" and "this is my last request", and when he said "thank you Nero". At that point he obviously knew who Nero was, had sensed his blood in the young boy, and had newfound hope in his heart. The way he looked at Nero when the latter was holding his arm showed he knew it. And he had always failed to hide his depression while Dante could play that well (not that Dante's life is as bad, but it's probably not that much better). In all, Vergil is just a simple and innocent person trapped in a life that is not meant for a tender one. He still remains calm and noble for most of the time, and always fights a fair match, those are also precious qualities absent in most if not all other characters.

I love how they pay homage to all the previous events after all these years. I didn't expect them to reference the little girl from the anime adaptation at 1:15:10 feelsgoodman

I actually like that the characters are all too cool to smoke or drink, though some think it's the opposite.
@@StoneOcean24 the creator of Dante also didn't want Dante to smoke because he thought he would be the same with many other badass characters who got created before him.
that game has so many references to previous dmc games. they went all out on that one.
Kyrie, who don't really appear much in DMC4, got reduced to just a recurring voice lol

Though I would think Dante shelters himself from civilians to protect them from the same fate as his mother. While it might not seem obvious, he actually only hangs out with demons or demon hunters who are strong enough to befriend a demon like he is. He never seems to stay close to a mere mortal, that might be why he doesn't even have a one-time romance like he brother did. The twins might appear dissimilar in nature, but deep down they are fundamentally the same.
Nico must have the strongest, most resilient van in the world.

It was an insult to the bad ass rock out session he had in DMC2 with the electric guitar Nevan - Dante is all about rock and metal, reducing him to a 'pop-dancer' just ruined his bad ass reputation. The whole scene made me twitch and wish to gouge my eyes out

He actually includes gameplay and "walk-n-talk" sections that provide story content, most other channels just play the cut-scenes in order which misses out on a lot of the little details.

I’m glad the ended it off like that. After their long fights and Vergil always wanting power. Now Dante and Vergil pretty much is like goku and vegeta, that bitter rivalry has turned into a friendly rival, well it their case it’s a friendly brotherly rivalry. They fight each other while having fun together. And this time they not even tryna kill each other to do it. And I liked how Vergil left his book for Nero. A good fatherly gift. Told Nero he would win next time. Definitely giving Nero a sign that he’ll be back and they’ll fight again. Man who would’ve thought that that crazy evil Vergil from when they first introduced him would actually be a father. And finally him and Dante actually are on good terms now. I thought Vergil and Dante would never be on good terms.
More than that. Vergil actually admitted his defeat. Seems his time split in two wasn't for nothing.

@@DP-qo9kl Vergil's ideology was that humanity (his human side) is what led him to be weak and not be able to save his mother way back when. Dante's (later learned) ideology was that humanity is what gave him and Vergil power. Vergil wanted to discard his humanity in order to surpass the power of Sparda and rule over both the Demons and the Humans so that he may never experience a loss such as he did with his mother again, while Dante mainly wanted to use his Demon powers to protect the humans like Sparda did when he sealed the human and demon worlds apart. This inevitably led to sibling rivalry between the two as Dante wouldn't just let Vergil go about doing what he wanted to do. Vergil was obsessed with Sparda and gaining his power, which is why he went to Fortuna to learn more about him in the first place, eventually knocking up nero's mom.
Dante only really fought him because the dude was doing stupid and heinous shit in the name of power. He never /wanted/ to kill Vergil but he felt like it was necessary because every time he encountered him someone was trying to open a portal to the Demon world. That's why his initial dialogue was "your portal opening days are over."

I think a lot of people missed the fact that Vergil, because he ate that fruit, is now the king of the underworld. That is another big reason why Dante has to watch over him in the underworld, and keep him pre-occupied with revenge.

I remember when I actually thought that the dev's just replaced nero's arm and just went totally off lore. After playing this awesome game, I admitted that I was totally wrong
Sooooo did the ending just gloss over the fact that Vergil was killing hundreds of thousands of people, for their blood, for a solid month? feels like nobody really held him accountable for that.....
That needs to be the plot of the next game, some1 holding Virgil accountable for his actions and maybe his somewhat redemption?
True, but in the game it was made clear that Urizen didn't remember anything about being Vergil like V was shown to. V remembered their old house, but Urizen said he had no recollection of Nero's past when Dante talked about their mother. So really, I don't think it's fair to judge him solely by Urizen and not by V, who did have Vergil's memories as a human and was immediately remorseful of what Urizen was doing. Vergil is V, and V's regrets must also be Vergil's. That's my take
I mean, what would they even do? He's trapped in hell with Dante, not like they can arrest him or anything. Even if they did there's no prison he couldn't escape from and killing him would kind of defeat Nero's whole character arc.

I love nero so much more in this game compared to being a dante clone in dmc4
in 4 he was much different in personality while he feels closer to dante in personality.

I find it funny that Nero's bitch slap caused Dante to spit out that much blood, when no one else I know of has ever punched him hard enough to do the same.
The fact that he was lying there throughout the fight when usually he would limp his ass up, even if just to piss his opponent off is kind of telling. Also he merged with the power contained in the sword of Sparda and the Rebellion, which made him an even greater demon, and well even earlier examples would be disqualified from the running. Literally he is now a Majin demon, which is THE Top Tier Demon...
That his nephew did that to him and then beat Vergil's ass kind of implies just how strong Nero's unlocked power is...
