That’s a beautiful piece, perfect for an older colonial home. Looks really lovely, timeless. Love how you left the interior unpainted, the contrast is striking.
She spoils the antiques; she doesn't restore them. She Is a disaster,: needs to learn to restore amd respect what is beautiful and old. Needs lessons in Europe and an extensive knowledge of History Art. She is abhorrent.
Ok this one killed me. Being an old furniture restorer, I am guessing this piece was solid wood. The style is Queen Ann dating back to the early 1700's. It's a stye that has been replicated over the years. I believe you landed on the real deal. $13!!, I just about fell out of my chair. I wanted to get my hands on this piece for years but they were way too expensive. The handles come off by unscrewing the little knobs by the actual handles. If you had taken the off and used something else I was going to offer to buy them. I have a dresser I restored that was missing 2 of the pull handles. Using Bondo on the top to repair that area was a great idea. It will give it so much durability to the fragile wood. I am so glad you saved it from the landfill!! If it had to be painted you choose the right color. Black is a sophisticated color for a very sophisticated piece.💖💖💖
@@kitfranzman4860 no I don't make videos. I have just been restoring furniture for a long time. I am almost 70 so I only do a few pieces a year. I enjoy watching by the younger restorers. There are so many new products and techniques. There is always something to learn from someone. I tend to just do classic designs on the furniture. Timeless.
I thought for sure you would put wall paper on the interior and inside the drawers. But the old wood has so much character, it speaks for itself. I have a grudge against the batwing hardware, could you have hack sawed off the head of the screw from inside the drawer or I am sure a grinder would have removed the screw head? I could see 2 of those brass or wrought iron pulls with like 2 quarter sized escutcheons and just a simple drop wire pull. To style maybe add at least a few books? Hard to see but, that hutch is pretty antique and unusual. The paint is fantastic. Great work, LL.
I'm ry tryng to trust the process on this one. Would have loved to see the what looked to be burl wood stay on the drawers..happy you saved it. It's beyond gorgeous piece
I bought a credenza that has one open shelf under the top and glass inserts in 2 of 4 doors. I would love to hear your suggestions for colors. I was thinking of doing the top a very light stain, the majority another paint color, then the inside of the open shelf and inside of the cabinet with the glass inserts another contrasting color. What do you think? (Thanks in advance )
Excellent work! It’s a great piece to have transformed. I trust it’ll sell quickly. Has jaw dropping appearance for sure. Loved the distressed accents.
Given that you opted to keep the interior the original finish, I feel not painting the drawers - if you could have avoided it - might have been the better choice. I didn’t see Bondo on them - and really liked the look of the wood grain against the matte black.
What kind of drill do you use? Looks like it isn't heavy and fits a woman's hand better. I have an armoire that is beautiful and comes apart and one of the sides has a long crack like your piece has. I was going to trash it but now think it can be saved. Thank you!
Let me understand. You had a beautiful vintage cabinet which you painted, then you sanded it off to give it character. Now it looks new with fake distress. A coat of wax would have given the piece true aged beauty.
I would’ve left those wooden cross hatch pieces. I forgot what they’re called millions or something. I would’ve left those of the natural wood since the inside of the piece is all natural which looks pretty. I would’ve left all the little dainty pieces of wood natural also. Just saying, but you do great work. I just see this phase of painted furniture eventually wearing out sometime. And then everybody will buy m Those pieces and be stripping them. So what goes around comes around.
This French hutch is never out dated. There is a large want on the East Coast. From former interior designer. The shell is historical in French design.
Strangely just working on a big hutch as you call them myself at the moment! It has been a challenge here as well. I too went dark! More of a charcoal, but like you kept the original wood in places as well. I loved yours.
It’s my understanding that Bondo is no longer available, at least in some areas. There is a perfect “dupe” of Bondo, BUT proceed with caution!!! Bondo and its “dupe” are bitches to sand. I will NEVER use the “dupe” or Bondo again. Even with a power sander, it’s beyond tough to shape it like it needs to be. In the future, I will go with something else.
When the product says it has one and it’s a light use item it doesn’t worry me as much. I used to have the same thought but I’ve had self sealing paint crackle on me when I add an additional sealer.
I’d say this one proved that to be the case - struggling to even get $13 for it in it’s “before” condition to worth hundreds after she worked her magic.❤
I know that was alot of work but the color is terrible. To really bring it out I would have done a navy blue with satin gold hardware. The back I would have done a beautiful navy/ gold wallpaper. Black is ok but it's overdone. It doesn't do that piece justice. Too blah/plain. Good effort tho.😢

Love the old beautiful pieces -- well worth the love and time
Thank you so much! I agree, they're amazing!
WOW, you really scored on this one! What a find, and what you created with it was just amazing. Great job!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I’m so glad I could save this piece.
Have you made furniture videos? It sounds like you have. I would like to watch your channel.

I love the way you gave this piece new life! I could see it in so many homes designs. Eclectic to traditional, what a great transformation!
Love this
Beautiful. Great Job. Saved a bit of history.
That turned out so chic and elegant!
Gorgeous!!
A great transformation ❤
Beautiful piece, I love the black but not so sure about the sanding back on the drawers.
Looks so good now!
What a beautiful piece. You did such a great job.
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Fabulous as always
Thank you! I'm so glad you like it!
Gorgeous lemons to high end lemonade😊
my parents had something similar,,, looking at the arch,,, 1950's style,,, simply beautiful

Nice work, girl! I love the milk paint choice!
Kara, that looks fantastic. You really did give that piece a shot at a new life. Someone is going to love that piece for years to come. Great job,
I’m so glad you think so! The new owners are in love with it too!
I think that’s a gorgeous piece! I know taller things and armoires have been “out” for awhile, but I think they’ll be back!
I think the arched shape really helps!
I agree. 👍 I'm a collector and this would be amazing for dolls, action figures, Funko pops, stoneware, depression glass, infinite possibilities.
And when they are back, they won't be painted. Never understand why people paint this beautiful furniture only to have it stripped a few years later.
@robertbonfiglio well I do this work myself, and when the wood is immensely damaged painting is the way to save it, as in this video.
Really lovely piece! Well
Done
Thanks! I love how it turned out.
Beautiful piece.
It looks really nice. Could you get the distressed effect with wax instead of sanding it?
I'm ry tryng to trust the process on this one. Would have loved to see the what looked to be burl wood stay on the drawers..happy you saved it. It's beyond gorgeous piece
I would have loved that too! With those large cracks in the side and then the top being a broken mess..restoring was beyond my skill set unfortunately
To remove stickers, use lemon essential oil. A single drop can dissolve the glue in seconds.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that
Absolutely gorgeous ❤
Thank you! I'm so glad you think so!
Beautiful great job but what did you sell it for please?
$900
That was sad. I bet it was stunning in it's day. Great job!
Yes, thanks
i love watching your videos. what is that google app that identifies furniture. amazing and so are you. thankyou

That distressing works so well on there! Love this one Kara 😍
Thank you bestie
Katie, I hope you wonder into one of these pieces one day
What type of finish did u use
Milk paint
Good job!
Thanks for watching!
gorgeous
Excellent work! It’s a great piece to have transformed. I trust it’ll sell quickly. Has jaw dropping appearance for sure. Loved the distressed accents.
Thank you! It was a fun project.sold quickly!
Can I ask, where can I go to buy furniture via auction? For you, is it a local place or online? TY
I search online for estate sales

❤ beautiful
I love it but Why paint over the hardware ? It looks awesome
Gorgeous!! I love that you kept the inside stained.😍
Thanks, I'm happy with how it turned out!
Try Goo Gone on stickers or residue glue.
Let me understand. You had a beautiful vintage cabinet which you painted, then you sanded it off to give it character. Now it looks new with fake distress. A coat of wax would have given the piece true aged beauty.
I’m with you on that. I don’t mind painted furniture. What I absolutely abhor is the distressing part.
My favorite off all time. I want one too. 24:40
Great piece and great work! I love using the wet sandpaper trick.
It's my favorite sanding trick!
So what did it sell for?
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful ❣️ great vision and execution ❣️ enjoyed your choosing a different style of furniture to transform. ❤️- Jill
Jill, I really appreciate your kind words!
Love this, any tips on online auctions?
Just search for local ones online. I book mark a few I like and check them atleast 2xs a week
GREAT JOB, awesome color, lookin' good !
Thanks so much! I love how this one turned out!
Did you bondo the crack inside the cabinet?
I reinforced it with some trim pieces I had laying around, unfortunately I didn’t take that part then I bondo-ed the top.

I get where you're coming from! It's fun to see how trends go full circle.
This French hutch is never out dated. There is a large want on the East Coast. From former interior designer. The shell is historical in French design.
I agree!
I know! I was teary-eyed watching them pried off and discarded. It’s hard for me to understand how they would have worked against re-sale.
Strangely just working on a big hutch as you call them myself at the moment! It has been a challenge here as well. I too went dark! More of a charcoal, but like you kept the original wood in places as well. I loved yours.
I’m glad you liked it! I’m so curious to see what you’ve done!!
Where Ever this was, it was in a very dry area. That’s what destroyed it. It at least has some use now, and won’t end up in a landfill.
I agree! I’m so glad I could give this piece a second life.
Wow, spectacular!
Thanks so much!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love it! Very classy look. Great job.
Thank you! I really love how this piece turned out!
Wow I love it. Nice color and detail. Thanks for the video.
Wishing you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks so much! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too!

I'm glad you like it!
😊❤
You definitely gave it a more beautiful life! ❤
Thank you! I’m so glad you think so!
So beautiful!!
Thank you! I'm so glad you think so!
Lots of hard work but a wonderful finish. Great job as usual.
Thank you! I really enjoyed this project!
It looks great!!!
Thank you!!
Beautiful, lot of work!
Thanks, it was a fun project!
🎉🎉🎉 So beautiful!!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you tuning in! Hope to see you next time!
It came out really pretty - definitelly a lot better compared to what you'd started with. Good job! Have you managed to sell it yet?
Sold! Went to its new home Thursday!
It looks sooo good Kara! Lot of work though! 🥰🥰
I don’t understand why you would leave the inside untouched. It was uneven in color and really detracted from what this hutch could’ve been.
Love it ! Black with some stain always looks dramatic !
Thank you!
Beautiful.
Yes take the details off. Too busy.its nice some style and curves in furniture is coming back for 2025. Beautiful
Agreed!
I’m working on nightstands in the GF lamp black:)
I LOVE it!!
4:25 Ewww, dust is not supposed to sound like that
Beautiful job ❤
I love your work..
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoy it!
I love watching your work. Could you tell me where I find auctions? Maybe you could do a video on that subject?
Search online in your area for auctions. They’ll pop up!
Outdated??? It was beautiful in its😢 original state!!! Painting😢 it with paint that will eventually chip away is terrible!!!!
Love when you remove the ugly from furniture!!
Thank you @KathieOwen-m7f! This makes me smile! So happy to hear! Hope to see you next time!
Beautiful! By the way, you have gorgeous hair! I know it’s a sin to be envious, but there it is…
Thank you so much!! I appreciate that!
Looks good, but I would have sprayed the inside also.
Wanted to keep some of the warmth of the wood but it would have been nice too!
I see many of these in large in suite bathrooms.
That would be amazing
I'm soooo sick of grey!
It looks good. The only thing that throws it off is the fact that the shelves don’t align with the horizontal trim of the windows. It’s distracting.
They’re movable so if it bugs the owners they can move them
Where’s your eye protection girly? ❤
Much needed i know! Thanks for watching!
❤
Very nice!
Just video feedback- the extra sound effects distract from the process and isn't necessary
Thanks for the input!
I don't care I am not buying furniture that has no sealer NOPE no thank you
When the product says it has one and it’s a light use item it doesn’t worry me as much. I used to have the same thought but I’ve had self sealing paint crackle on me when I add an additional sealer.
People think painting makes furniture beautiful
The trash certainly doesn’t make it any better:/
It does if it keeps it out of the landfill
I’d say this one proved that to be the case - struggling to even get $13 for it in it’s “before” condition to worth hundreds after she worked her magic.❤
@VintageVerveCo yep I’m happy to have saved it for a little longer. The new owners were thrilled!
You took a breathtakingly beautiful piece of antique mahogany
furniture, and painted it, making it look like a giant gray turd.
💩
Ok I’ll be sure it lands in the trash next time…and it’s black…
