1:30 Siemens lady: "Wouldn't it be cool if would do All The Stations again, with your own train." Geoff: "Don't give me ideas." All The Stations fans: "Doooooo it!"
Geoff maybe the cab is built to be quieter and the ride built to be smoother so that the air pressure of the Moorgate tunnels does not cause a racket in the cab and the suspension is desgined to cope with said air pressure as the tunnels are more enclosed unlike with thameslink where the tunnels are 2 tracks wide
I'm well aware of what the AWS does and sounds like. (I'm a qualified driver) it's just very different to the desiro units i drive, the horn is a very harsh and quite loud electronic beep compared to the gentle tone on this unit.
Please please do 'I don't even know what we're doing at least once a week every week. It is by far the funniest and most entertaining thing you do so please give us more.
I think it has already been said but: let's buy Geoff his own train! I am more than happy to donate a pound. If we (his subscribers) all do the he would have £ 68,314. Surely that will be enough for a 144, with the NRM looking to preserve one maybe he could keep it there.
If you are getting a Diesel to visit All The Stations again, please let it be a Class 37 - must be quite a few coming up around now fresh off active service.
That is actually the standard in all of Japanese one-handle-control stock. After almost a year in Japan seeing anything that has throttle forwards and brake backwards feels weird.
@@erkinalp if that was the case it would probably be done everywhere since everything is very safety focused (there are loads of other deadman systems though). Also pulling everything towards you would be easier when you run from the cab incase of an emergency.
@@jammerlaan of course I can't argue with that logic. Then again a lot may be down to the size of the controller and the number of positions. Amusingly enough even in two-handle systems in Japan where the handle is linear the same brake forwards power backwards applies. However in two-handle systems where the movement is circular (rotating handles) the movement of your arm to do the twist is actually usually brake backwards power forwards.
Basically yes, depends what you're asking but yes they are small wheeled, small height, lower top speed EMU's with electric current supplied by two extra rails. Geared for low speed because faster is not needed and there is a lack of space for suspension.
Hope you noted down the number so you can eventually go "I drove this one!"

i really hope he does it LOL, he probably wont tho
i love how chilled the Siemens staff is XD
Alexandra Palace looks a lot different. Have they remodelled the station?
@Free YT Films hahahahaha
so funny
This is one advanced hornby set Geoff. Awesome video.
Awesome driving! Can't wait for the ATS documentary later today.
Whatwhere
Great conversationalist
That was awesome, very jealous! What a great looking train, and love the commentary and German humour from the PR lady.
Great job there Geoff. The train is really smooth.
"Push up a little bit... can you feel it?... I might overshoot a little" - this is why you need the visuals with the sound to avoid ambiguity.
Did you get to activate the ninja gangway at any point?
Whoohoo 😁 The Queen and Geoff's new video are arriving 👍at the same time 😎
What fun! You lucky devil, that's a great train set.
02:24 - if you miss the AWS you'll be in the office getting your arse spanked by your comp manager ...
Nice job Geoff. This train looks awesome.
I think the tour of the whole network in your own train is a good idea.

Great driving Geoff, you should become a train driver.
Do you reckon it would be more fun than being the RUclips star that he is?
From Clapham Junction No he's better being the best RUclipsr he is.
@@FromClaphamJunction you surely mean RUclips Tube star.
Here here
@@roseharvey2664 Now that's the answer and the best for all
I am so jealous, that is one dream job I would love to do. Well done for smashing it.
When you hire your diesel locomotive which stops at every station, can you pull a few carriages so we can ride the train? :)
This guy is literally the Sam Chui of the UK railway network
Uh, is that a compliment? Not so sure.
@@flippert0 lmao
the AWS is so gentle! most of the time its a horrible horn.
Joe Walker modern units have a ‘Ding’
I think the modern ones have a similar sound. Like an alarm or something.
Horn is caution/reduce speed/danger
Ding is clear
I'm well aware of what the AWS does and sounds like. (I'm a qualified driver) it's just very different to the desiro units i drive, the horn is a very harsh and quite loud electronic beep compared to the gentle tone on this unit.
But Alexandra palace and Welwyn garden city are on the same line and the same service... #LearnYourRailwayGeoff :P
looks like a big boy train set!
Geoff, would you ever think of applying to be a train driver?
Can't wait to watch this!
When I have a bad day then I need to watch your videos, it's the best way to forget bad things and smile just like you ;P
WOW Geoff that's a PARADISE!
Cool video, and great idea .. who is going to set-up the kickstarter for “All The Stations 2 - Geoff goes (on his own) loco!” ?
the "pathways" (you have to pay a fee to be given time on the route) would be phenomenal. it would have to be a HUGE kickstarter. XD
Bloody hell Geoff you are living your best life and it is vicariously excellent to see :D
Can't wait to drive these, shame I weren't 700 trained!

You get to do the most awesome stuff. Id love to do that!!!!
Geoff you make a sick train driver
Don't quit your day job. Seriosly, you did well. I enjoyed the clip.
You can be a GTR driver and record yourself driving the 717s, also you can do a drivers eye view.
SHE HAD AN AMAZING IDEA. DO ALL THE STATIONS AGAIN WITH YOUR OWN TRAIN!
This looks so fun! I want to go to the UK now!
You have all the fun Geoff. Good work. BC.
You will be an excellent freight train driver.
Fom all the stations, to where's the station?
nice and amzing train you riding
You drive just like i do. Except i am a train driver in Holland haha. Those trains look like the new Dutch SNG NS trains.
L V just want to say: thanks for your hard work, making the NS work! It’s really appreciated!
There are new trains that are actually related to the SNGs coming to the UK, the Class 195 and 331 for Northern are both made by CAF, like the SNG.
Wish southern rail would get new trains to replace the class 313 and class 455 units, the class 313 was built back in the 70s
maglorian Bedankt man! Ik waardeer het.
Lady: "You can rent it and do "All The Stations" on a train!"
Network Rail: **commits suicide**
Maybe re-do All the Stations with a rented Pacer. I hear there are going to be a lot of them available soon!
He really got to do that lucky they trust him to have a go big up Geoff
That looked like fun! Every little boy's dream day out!
Bit stereotypical and sexist
@@TaylaHolland fair enough
You lucky lucky bastard!
What an accomplishment woohoo 💪❤
Nice train driving Geoff
The electronic interference... I used to get that when phones were still 2G CDMA. Are they still using that antiquated system for something?
Loved the music
i've heard that the first 717 unit should enter service in August this year...
You are so lucky wish I could drive trains in real life
Last time I was there it was a active RAF base.. feeling old now 😔
You certainly thoroughly enjoyed that, Geoff, didn’t you?
Oh it is test track...
I thought u would drive the northern city line
I love how cute the throttle looks lol. Its like plastic toy hahah
Forward for braking and backwards for traction feels weird to me. The rolling stock I drive all has it the other way around. But nice driving!
It is a dead-man measure. Otherwise you would be applying full power when you passed out. This way, you stop if you pass out and get hung on it.

I’ve seen a Great Northern class 717 in Viersen Germany on transport and i filmed it too and it looked great!!
I've been in that train before!
Happy for you
Man... what I would give to be able to do that... I've only driven an 08 which isn't quite the same
The entire network? Some bloody Route Card.
Hello it's Sunday the 23rd of September, were at Hampton Court, and we're going to all the castles. XD new series 😀
You should buy your own train and use it to visit abandoned stations in each county.
OH YES DO THE WHOLE NETWORK IN YOUR OWN TRAIN I WOULD DEFINITELY WATCH THAT!!!!
Good job Geoff
Haha, that looks like fun.
How do you get to drive that. I want to try but I don’t know how
You should have shown how the train looks from outside
I would love to do that!
Was it coz they saw ur videos 🤩?
Have you ever rode the units you've driven once they were delivered?
he should ride them.
Great opportunity
Did you give the horn a go ??
Next for a class 800 test drive
How did you manage this, I wanna do this
what did the new ninja door look like from the inside? i wanted to see that :(
all the stations in ones own train does sound like a fantastic idea!
Did you do a running brake test though?
KasHCubeD don’t think he did
I enjoy your video Geoff I play train simulator on my computer
You should go to America to a little town called Cass located in west Virginia Pocahontas county
Wow so cool
I want a try! were can i try this?
If you want to get a train but don't want to drive it round the country I'll drive, always wanted to go round the network driving a train!
do 717's have the same traction as the other desiro city's
They do
Cool Video! I loved it, quick question: Do the London Underground Trains work like EMU?
Basically yes, depends what you're asking but yes they are small wheeled, small height, lower top speed EMU's with electric current supplied by two extra rails. Geared for low speed because faster is not needed and there is a lack of space for suspension.
Yeah, that's it. Thanks! Like an EMU that when the power is applied all the cars move in the forward direction.
Also electric power is picked up by one coach and can be wired to the motors of other coaches, all driven from one cab
Alright, Cool!
Are you a metro staff? Or how can you drive the test train?
Add the link to the other video
Buy a class 153 and use that to do all the stations again
Coasting not cruising. And was the vigilance system isolated?
u rock...man👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cool, I envy you. Don't forget to update the comment on the other video linking to this
Can't wait

Such a tough job, no wonder they get paid the big bucks. Pushing that lever backwards and forwards would test anyones limits.
