    Some owners have changed out the sprocket to give the bike a more relaxed cruising engine speed. Any thoughts from you or other owners you might know? Seems like that and a windshield change seem to make this bike work much better for longer slogs. And, thank you, it's so important to get the overall cost of ownership as a real-world gauge. The GX has much more leg room, which matters if you're older. The GT will be more likely to give your knees fatigue. I also liked better the minimal and slim front fairing and plastics on the GX, compared to the side fairings on the GT that wrap all the way wound the front.

      Roads are often so busy and monitored now it is rare you can ride a bike in the way it could be ridden . I tend to try and enjoy riding smoothly and predictably on the road . Sometimes make “good progress” but always with a bit in hand and mindful of the consequences .

    LIGHTING: See and BE seen... #1 SAFETY- I am extremely concerned that (urban) drivers will not see those teeny/twinkie headlights, (and tail-lights) no matter how bright. I HAVE been hit. #2- ILLUMINATION .. I have seen reports that say this bike does not supply sufficient lighting ahead. Any thoughts? Good report!

    • @michaelmam
      @michaelmam  2 дня назад

      Good question... Personally I have not , yet , had any problems based on not being seen but , riding over 20000 miles a year I tend to assume everyone is going to pull out ..
      In terms of illumination I think the kindest I can be is "ok" . Those that ride regularly in the dark sometimes fit ancillary lights which I think is a good idea . Actually deals with both issues ...

      @@michaelmam Living in a busy American metro area, drivers have become incredibly brazen and careless since COVID. Every time I ride out now, I encounter potentially-deadly situations, was never like this before in my many years of riding. A kid ran into the back of my Suzuki at a stoplight last year while, put me in the hospital, claimed he never saw me.The Mfr's REALLY need to get away from these teeny lighting systems, bring back VISIBILITY. People are getting hurt due to this.

      @michaelmam  День назад

      @ Getting hit up the rear is more likely the Driver on a phone than how big the front lights were , but I know what you mean . I am not a fan of integrated brake /indicator rear lights and went for ancillary front lights on my R1300GS , for the first time ..

      @@michaelmam My FJR has huge twin lights up front, and my Bandit 12 has extra LEDs.. even with THOSE I have to flash drivers who constantly want to (or do) turn in front of me.
